Cousins should be considered for the back up center on the ALL-STAR team

Case should be made for Demarcus Cousins as back up C on the ALLSTAR team 15.5/11.6/1.4 blks in 29 min what other C does that? Don't say Mark Gasol because Cuz has better averages. No center is the answer, Cuz is balling!! Cousins should be back up to Bynum.

Too little too late, imo. Yes we can make a case for that, but his awful start, our futile play for a stretch and his reputation of getting Westy fired all point to no at this time. He's playing at an All Star level now, but two weeks doesn't make a season.

Now, one scenario that could get him in as a backup since I don't see anyway he's voted in by thursday is if Bynum picks up his annual injury. If Bynum goes down before the All Star game, or whoever the coaches pick as a backup goes down, he has a shot at being a replacement. Figure Bynum/M Gasol at center, along with Duncan. Griffin/Dirk/Pau/Aldridge/Love at pf makes Duncan at center even more likely. But it's an outside shot. I personally don't see the league picking Cousins as a replacement given his reputation surrounding Westy. The dark horse is his stats though. Keep getting 20/20 or near it and we play at a .500 clip, he could force his way in if there is an injury and we go to replacements.

Not sure when the decision is made, but I don't see it happening unless we have basically caught up to Memphis's record by then. And even if we do, the early season ugliness will likely keep him out this year. Gasol has hype and national games and last year's playoff run. Meanwhile coaches select the reserves, and Cousins had a hand in getting one of their own fired.

Wouldn't worry too much about the future though. DeMarcus is already putting up numbers as good as anybody but Dwight, and if he keeps on progressing at this rate he could emerge as the #2 center as early as the end of this year. If we start to win at all, he'll be an All Star sooner rather than later.

Gasol has played consistently well and he's been a lot more efficient than Cousins. He should get it this year, Cousins will get on next year.
