Cousins Back for Team USA

While i do kind of agree with you, i think we should assume that IF Rudy makes it and Cuz doesn't, they were probably already set on not taking Cousins before the Rudy Gay addition happened. And it should be looked at more as they took Plumlee or Drummond over Cousins than Rudy over Cousins
That may be true but we have to hope Cuz sees it that way.

A great Boogie article.

It's amazing the difference on his shot when he catch and shoots 47% to when he either shoots off the dribble or catch waits then shoots 34%. If he can eliminate that and becomes a 50% shooter on catch and shoot he will be on another level. Bigs would have to close out on him more and we know he can put it on the floor.

Great point his pump fakes from 15+ feet away from the basket really is a bad habit. He should look to pop that shot or put the ball on the floor immediately like you said. That's something Webber learned to do and it made him much more of a threat on the high post.

There's some deceptiveness to that observation however.

If you look at the shot charts Boogie is already one of the best centers in the league with the facing jumper from up around the circle. its a knockdown shot for him, and yes, its precisely his catch and shoot area.

But a lot of the shots off the dribble, and especially wait and shoot shots are from a different spot on the floor, and are a product of his post game. Basically when you see his shooting numbers from the wings and baseline, its much lower. And the reason I think is when he's taking a jumper down there its not planned. He takes those only after being stymied on his post moves. So its a settling shot, or a shotclock beating shot. And hence much lower percentage. But if you have a postup guy there are going to be a certain number of those shots when things break down. Best counter for it is to surround him with shooters so he can find somebody to kick it to in that situation rather than have to force up a tough shot.

Didn't want to start another thread on this one but Shaq comes to Boogie's defense over his excessive techs saying it's about his "passion" - which as a former dominant NBA big man he applauds him for.

Interesting article:) Author Kurt Helin quotes another article. Dime magazine interviewed Shaq and this is where Kurt gets his Shaq info.

I think Kurt skews the article into a biased piece when he wrote:

"Last season all that earned him a league-leading 16 technicals, a suspension for having more than 15, and $70,000 in fines."

What Kurt fails to mention is that two of the NBA's golden haired poster boys also had 16 technicals. None other than Kevin Durant!!! Who was the other you ask? None other than Blake Griffin.

ESPN has a nice listing of NBA player foul statistics in the link below:

http://espn.go.com/nba/statistics/player/_/stat/fouls/sort/technicalFouls

Another interesting list I found is a listing of technical fouls per team. Highest is on the bottom in the link below. OKC and the Clips lead the list:

http://www.teamrankings.com/nba/stat/technical-fouls-per-game

The moral of the story is the Kings need to win more games and DMC needs to shed his reputation while still bringing the passion.

He's just got ice on it apparently so... not medical but... I assume thats not too serious?

Fingers crossed. Because otherwise, might have a look at the 2015 mock drafts.

Just saw on the ESPN ticker that Cousins won't play in the exhibition game against Brazil on Saturday.

I'm sure you can read this a whole lot of ways.

1.) It's a bit more serious and they don't think he'll be physically capable of playing.
2.) He isn't going to make the team, so they don't want him aggrevating the injury.
3.) He is going to make the team, as long as the injury is minor, and they don't want him aggrevating it.

I guess we'll see...

As crappy as this seems, I still prefer for DMC to play for Team USA if he's not injured instead of pulling out (if that was ever even an option for him). I personally think he'll develop more playing against those guys than he would just playing in the regular season.

What a nightmare off-season for USA basketball. No one is going to let there guys go back.

Hope Boogie is alright and this is the last time we have to talk about the "injury"

yeesh. Look, this is that thing about all the kind of wishful, "nobody ever gets hurt in these things" excusemaking we are doing to justify this risk. Yes they do. And yes it would be totally devastating to us if he did. Let's just assume its nothing this time, but the sooner this thing is over and he's back focused on the upcoming season the better.

*sigh*. hopefully this won't hurt his chances of playing for the team, going forward. I know he really really wants this

Okay that does it bring him home and play the d leaguers or college kids in the Olympics.
DeMarcus Cousins

@boogiecousins

Thanks for all the concern, I'm fine

EDIT: CUZ says via Twitter he's fine. Cue George Lopez "I have a pain in my chest and I can't breathe"

Stupid dive by Davis. The play was basically over and the ball was gone when he pretends to hustle.

Good thing Boogie is so agile. Hopefully it's just some soreness with nothing overnight. If Davis messed up our franchise center's knee for good, then he will hear it from us.

you saw a video?

Basically Cousins stole the ball from Davis. In the process of Cousins securing it and passing it off to Faried, there is a slight tangle where Cousins drop to the floor and Davis decides to dive on Boogie's knee to make it look like he hustled to get the ball back in order to save face.

like i said in another post.. don't make a difference to me if he makes the team or not. risk of getting injured in these meaningless scrimmage games is too much for our franchise.

I disagree personally. I think the aspects of Cousins' game can really be helped this summer being on the team. He's not the number one. Far from it. So he has to focus on other things. Defense, scrapping for rebounds, and getting in good position for follow-ups. These are all things Boogie can improve on. It's also good because he's learning to keep his emotions under control, something Coach K has been adamant about. He could get injured training at home with his trainer. I'm glad he's there and hope he performs well.

A bone bruise is a good thing right? Can that lead to any long term problems? I was really worried and still am lol. I'd be so pissed
