All-Star
with your Sacramento Kings... Yes/No
excellent move, shores up the point and allows for a young talent to grow even more before our very eyes. If nothing else, he's a tradable asset near the deadline.
I attend 3-4 Kings games every year (ironically, I went to easily twice or even three times as many in those lost years 1985-97 - when about only good thing to say was seat, parking, concessions, was a helluva lot cheaper). I would hate to go into this upcoming season with a mediocre at best PG-by-committee or some scrub FA in place of SOLID Beno Udrih (I didn't say instant All-Star GREAT). I pay my now around $90 a ticket expecting only a couple things - all out Kings effort plus best possible talent assembled by management and our coach to hopefully produce a bunch of wins on that THUNDEROUS (goose pimple special nights!) Arco Arena home court. If we were stumbling into next season with our PG slot as pathetic as it was for awhile last year, this might have been first time I ever just sat at home and just watched mostly disinterested on TV for a whole season - never venturing near Arco. Let the good time ROLL in 2008-09 with Beno and everyone striving to work together to get better and better. A bit of homer time... GO KINGS!!
And that was one of my concerns about the PG position - if you put in a cheap scrub who can't run the team effectively, you run the risk of looking even cheaper than some have accused you of being and turning away even more fans at the gate.
question: how would fans of the team take it if management came straight out and basically said "look, we would like to look into our team's success a little more in the long term. so to that end, we are going to aggressively manage our cap space and not do moves that may be ok in the short term, but will hurt our cap space in the long term. our intent is to be significantly under the cap for 20xx, where we can have an impact on the free agent market."
do you think fans will turn away in the short term if management were to say something like that?![]()

Where's the box for "neutral"?
Best option we probably had available... all other "young stud" PG's are already locked down...
Beno is cheap... and if need be will be easy to move/trade... great signing!
