Congrats to Jimmer!

CONGRATS JIMMER!

Lets be real, RACE has a lot to do with this.

Isn't the winner voted for by the fans? It's all about popularity. You'll have a hard time backing up your assertion.

Congrats Jimmer. Hopefully the first of many awards you recieve during your career as a King!

Yes and being white helps his popularity. Think of it as reverse affirmative action.

I would actually go as far to argue that African Americans have a far larger fan base in a sport like basketball. It just so happens that Jimmer is Jimmer, and he has an extremely large fan base. You don't see Brian Cardinal, or any other Caucasian for that matter, getting voted into the All-Star game to start.

You want to know what racism is? Take a look in the mirror. You, and everyone else that thinks the way you do, makes me sick to my stomach. As long as people keep finding racism in everything they see, it will continue to exist.

FTW!!

...and Congrats Jimmer!!! That's great!

Really? Race?

Saying that his religion had a lot to do it would be more credible than pulling the race card.
And that wouldn't be true either. Altho the LDS church has grown a lot, it's not big enough to swing a vote like this. (I'm a former Mormon)

Although I will say that Mormons are fanatical about basketball. Almost all churches have basketball courts. :)

I'm watching one of Jimmer's games against SDSU. There's this guy on SDSU who's kinda fat and is wearing full sleeves on both arms. He's always posting up, always boxing out and always flashing, always has his hands up, always has great low post position, always does his best to run up the floor BUT SDSU NEVER PASSES HIM THE BALL. I'm trying to watch Jimmer but I'm having trouble watching this injustice.

Also of note is that SDSU is constantly double teaming Jimmer with Kawhi Leonard and Billy White, another athletic/long forward.

This is something you will notice if you watch any of BYU's games. Jimmer is ALWAYS double or triple teammed, and still managed to create his own shot while shooting a high percentage. At the next level, he won't see many double-teams so it should be interesting to see what he can do.

neither will dmc because if you double dmc then whos going to guard jimmer tyreke or thornton?
pick your poisoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooon

I would be surprised if Cousins isn't doubled most of the time (in the post) next season. If I have to choose to double a big man in the post OR a player on the perimeter, I would double the big man the majority of the time. He can create more problems for the defense IMO.

cousins passing is off the charts! no way they double him. if you do tyreke will be open one on one or jimmer for the 3
oh i cant wait
LORD HAVE MERCY ON MY SOUL!

Jimmer also put up at least nine assists in that game vs. SDSU, not without a small flurry of turnovers tho, but nine assists is nine assists and the vision is there.

There's no doubt that if Fredette had been surounded with more talent, his assist totals would have gone up. As I've said before, there were many games where Fredette spent most of the first half of a game trying to get his teammates involved, and where most of his scoring came in the second half of the game. By no means am I saying that Fredette is the next Magic Johnson, but he does have very good passing ability and good court vision. It will be interesting to see how he adapts to having good players around him. Something he never had in his four years at BYU
