Cole Aldrich

By the time Scott Pollard was 24 he was a key backup on a playoff team. So rotation player is unlikely. Maybe with some seasoning he can become a playoff cailber 3rd center, since every team needs a stiff who can clog the middle.

He's the type of player that needs to find the right fit. I actually like him alongside Cousins, but doubtful Smart would play them together. I think Aldrich will be on the Heat next season, and do well there for obvious reasons - all he has to do is play defense, block shots, and rebound - which are all strengths of his.

I thought he'd be better than what he's shown so far, but the Pollard comparison might be a good one.

I think he will be resigned but will not see much PT this year to avoid the risk of raising his stock. I also sincerely hope Dally is signed.

Cuz/Aldrich will be a defensive mess against 90% of the NBA, and Aldrich doesn't have the offense to take advantage of smaller players.
There's no one like him on the roster, so I like him as a 12th man with a little upside, but not a player that should be considered a part of any plan.

He's a monster, no seriously though, he seems like a nice guy, at the very least it's always good to have good characters in the LR.

The thing with Aldrich is that he's not a stiff. He's quite mobile for a big guy. Strictly a system player and his absolute best case a spot starter but more likely a career backup. I'd like to see how he pairs with Cousins if only because the combined girth of both these guys would pretty much clog the lane by default.

Your right, he's far from being a stiff. He's actually a pretty good athlete that runs the floor well, and he can jump higher than Cuz. His defensive weakness is in man defense in the post. He has trouble with the stronger centers in the league. Actually, I also would like to see how he operates next to Cuz at times. He was a good weakside shotblocker in college, and could be the same in the pro's. The comparison to Pollard is a poor one. Scott was much stronger, but less athletic. No one ever accused Scott of being a shotblocker.

I don't really see him being much more than a 12th man/5th big type player. They are certainly useful to have, but he's not going to be good for much more than keeping a few fouls off starters.
