Cisco as starting PG

If we are not able to keep Beno bombs around what would you think about just having cisco run the starting PG duties?

He can defend anyone in the league and would create match up problems at both ends of the floor. It would also be cause to get it out of his hands quicker to start the offense.

I dont really know at this point but why not.

He can defend anyone in the league?

But more importantly -- Cisco bringing the ball up vs. Chris Paul = all time steals record. You can spot him there, but he in no way shape or form could bring the ball up every play and quarterback the team game in and game out. That's before we even get to the decisionmaking.

Because it's not his natural position and never will be or should be. He can handle it in a pinch as a superb versatile player, but Cisco's WAY more effective as 2 or 3 in certain situations at 6'7." Also, Cisco is more a spot up shooter instead of creating for himself or others. Again, not that he can't slash, penetrate some, dish to find open players - but Beno or a real PG is sooo much better at that stuff. Don't, get me wrong I have no problem overall with Cisco and love havoc he often creates on the defensive end.

i think here comes into fruition all those "versatile" men that petrie has been drafting

if Cisco starts he can certainly cause match up problems on the guard position the problem is... is he fast enough to be able to guard the points... i would take douby starting over him... but if cisco manages to stay with his man he can block most of their shots certainly :D

if we stick to the every one can pass the ball strategy then there will be no need for a TRUE point guard then

Did you see the first four to five game of the last season? During that span, we didn't have Bibby, and Udrih neither.

So during that span, Garcia WAS our first PG. I love him and still evaulate him so high. But as a starting PG? The experiment was totally failed. He's good ball handler and passer as a swingman, but it's not enough for the PG.

We've tried that and failed. Period.
