Potential Free Agent/Trade/Sign Tracker, '25-'26 Season

But again, that’s not what the rumors are. The rumored deal is Saric + Carter. The math works out to Kuminga’s deal being a max of $83.81 mil if that’s the case.

What Kuminga wants is only a part of this. What he’s being offered is just as important. Sure it was rumored he turned down a 5 for 150 deal. If that’s is actually true, he gambled on himself and made a poor choice in the end (similar to Schroder turning down the Lakers big offer).

And I’m not convinced the Warriors are jumping at the chance to sign Kuminga to an $83 mil contract. They made him that rumored offer before they had Butler. They now have a lot of money tied up in their key guys. The calculus has changed. They live in a different world than they did when the originally made that offer to Kuminga.

Maybe that says something about the rumor as is then? We've also heard rumors of Monk being involved somehow. The one consistent rumor is that Kuminga is seeking a deal in the 30 million range.

Unless he budges then that literally takes precedence over all of this process. He would simply in a worst case take the QO (which I think the Warriors want him to do) and then opt for unrestricted FA next offseason. If Kuminga was willing to take 18 million in his first season then I can't see how a team like the Kings with the MLE available wouldn't be able to put pressure on the Warriors with that. If the Warriors "didn't really want him"? They wouldn't match. Simple as that.

I just wouldn't underestimate the size of the A-holes the Warriors can be when it comes to business. Remember how soiled the Moody situation got but the Warriors ended up getting their way after treating him like trash too. I don't think an organization like the Warriors thinks they can't convince someone they were just trying to help them the entire time with a little "tough love". haha. The Warriors have set their cap up pretty specifically to the point that after the '27 season they're pretty free and clear and Draymond probably opts out after this season anyway. Are they afraid of paying the tax or being over the apron for 1-2 seasons? I guess we'll see.

At least it will show all. If the Kings are in 10th-12th again and they don't see that as a sign of stagnation then there's no fixing it. If they are in that range then I fully expect a rebuild if there is any truth to Perry running the show. If he is and his choice is to run the same path to nowhere then it's a matter of time. This is also on Doug and the young guys. If a Kuminga deal is DOA and Carter is on the summer league team, he better be playing to turn this franchises opinion of him sideways and right straight up there ***. Then we know who he is.

Ya with this draft finishing 10-12 is disastrous a lot of guys coming out that look like number one scorers and would fit our young core. We shouldn’t need another mediocre year to know Sabonis/DDR/Lavine will lead you now where but play-in

The question is whether Kuminga wants to play for the Kings and how much he wants.

What he wants money wise is a question but as far as who Kuminga wants to play for it doesn’t really matter in this moment,

Only one team has the money to even negotiate with Kuminga without going through the Warriors unless Kuminga is ready to settle for just the MLE. That’s Brooklyn and they reportedly aren’t interested.

Which is why despite being a free agent you haven’t heard of Kuminga meeting with any teams or any rumblings about his destination preferences in regards to the teams pursuing him. He’s probably the most restricted restricted free agent in recent memory.

I don’t see him getting above Monk’s salary if a sign and trade in reached. If it drags out too long then he might have a choice between a few teams in signing an MLE. Kings might not be his choice then, but maybe so.
