i was just kidding about TD chips with manu dipsVF21 said:Evenstar -
I started a thread to say how well I think Webber is doing and how glad I am he's recovered...
Now it's all about trading him for some "tim duncan chips and manu dip"?????
Maybe I'm just a fuddy-duddy, but I think Webber has done a fantastic job so far, especially in terms of following up on his words with actions.
I'm just sorry the thread couldn't have stayed the way I started it, but such is life on a message board.

Easey There Webber homer i think he did nothing he said he will do i might agree with you when the play offs are over.VF21 said:I've refrained from making this post, because I was concerned people would take it the wrong way. I've decided, however, that I don't care if people take it the wrong way.
Way back when, Chris Webber made some comments. He said, among other things, that he wanted to play with guys who wanted to win as badly as he did. He also mentioned that he wanted to round out his game - to do everything he could to help his team win. He said other stuff, too...
Some people used those comments to make it sound as though Chris was putting himself above the team, as though he was trying to make himself look good at the expense of the rest of the guys.
Some people said all along that Webber was simply speaking the truth. That he was saying he was going to give his all, and he was challenging the rest of the team to be a part of it...
I think Webber has done exactly what he has said he would do AND I think the team is meeting his challenge. I, for one, am awfully glad #4 is still a Sacramento King.
Webber made a comment once that he hoped he had earned the right to retire as a King. Well, in my book, he has definitely earned that right!
Awesome comeback from what could have been a career-ending injury.
Thank you, Chris Webber!!!!!
Anybody who frequents kingsfans knows that VF21 is Kings Homer not a player homer. She would post exactly the same post when Peja starts liting the place on fire.gixxerR6 said:Easey There Webber homer i think he did nothing he said he will do i might agree with you when the play offs are over.

you know this time you should take off your Webber blinders. so obviously in the beginning, peja did seem very uncomfortable playing. and was there any other reason to frustrate and distract peja beside those public comments?VF21 said:We lost the games in the beginning because of Webber?
Yeah, okay...fine.
hmm it's quite embarrashing to be banned and then to be back. but anyways, i never said Webber made those public comments "simply to 'frustrate and distract' Pedja". i mean, come on, he would never do that. nobody would try to frustrate and distract his/her team mates. what's there to gain? i just think it would be wiser for Webber to motivate Peja in private instead. that's all i meant.VF21 said:I banned you, but I've lifted the ban...on the off-chance you AREN'T a troll and are just misinformed.
1. I am a Kings fan and have been since 1985.
2. I support the entire team, including Pedja.
3. If Pedja seemed uncomfortable at the beginning of the year, it was because he was still having trouble finding his shot.
4. If you think Webber made his comments simply to "frustrate and distract" Pedja, then you need to explain why he would do that... Webber wants a championship more than anything else. He knows that a good way to the championship is with one of the premiere shooters in the league on his team to be doing his best. Have you even read Webber's comments or are you simply judging by what you've heard or read in certain columns?
This website is dedicated to the Sacramento Kings, ALL of them. I support every single one of them, as do most of the people here. In this case, you're simply pretty far off with your assessment of the situation.

Interesting comment. Do you have any idea of what Chris says to Peja in private? What's so wrong with motivating peja in private?
I agree. Webb has played within himself. I have said that his athleticism is not what it used to be but you would never know it after watching him perform against the Pacers the other night. What I see is that he is getting better each game. His confidence in his body (knee and ankle) is getting stronger each game. With that confidence comes a higher level of play.VF21 said:Maybe I'm just a fuddy-duddy, but I think Webber has done a fantastic job so far, especially in terms of following up on his words with actions.
no all im saying is he can be the best so far but in play offs everything goes down the drian either, he gets injuredorhe plays poor orteam chimestry dies so im not ready to belive him yet.VF21 said:He did nothing he said he will do?
Apparently you must have been living in a cave or missed the whole season thus far.
Webber has LED the team. He has led by example, giving it all out there on the court - even with a couple of nights where his shot wasn't falling he was contributing. He AND Pedja AND Miller AND Doug AND Mike and the rest of the team are having a great time; they're getting their game together and we have every reason to rejoice.
If you can't see that, you might want to take off your Pedja blinders.
Old myth about Webb in the playoffs -- its been years since his performance fell off in the playoffs. He once had a somewhat deserved reputation as a playoff choker, but that's been long gone.gixxerR6 said:no all im saying is he can be the best so far but in play offs everything goes down the drian either, he gets injuredorhe plays poor orteam chimestry dies so im not ready to belive him yet.

And he's only proof that you shouldn't give up on guys if they don't seem to produce year after year...after year...after yearBricklayer said:Old myth about Webb in the playoffs -- its been years since his performance fell off in the playoffs. Webb's not the guy I am worried about this postseason.
I am. He is a poor free throw shooter and in the playoffs he tends to turn into a turnover machine. Also, other top teams in the West except for Seattle all have better power forwards (Duncan, Garnett, Nowitzki, Stoudamire). We get dominated on the boards anyway, and I know that Pedja is horrible at rebounding but it is not the other team's small forwards that snatch all the boards.Bricklayer said:Webb's not the guy I am worried about this postseason.

Had we not played against Dallas so many times (see no interior defense in the past) his playoff numbers would a lot worse.
Nah, then you would have an invasion of Peja-homers proclaiming his greatness, his new found leadership of the team yadda yadda yaddaKingKong said:Webb for MVP.... Pedja for Finals MVP. Haters, doubters, crtitics would not only be silenced but would dissppear for atleast a decade. Wouldn't that be something. Ok I'll wake up now.
