Chris Webber...all that AND a bag of chips!

Chris Webbers game at phoenix

Amare's athleticism makes him a tough match-up for anyone. However, in the one game we played against the Suns so far, Webb and Amare had pretty similiar stat lines

29-9-0-0-3 with 3 turnovers

28-10-3-1-1 with 2 turnovers

Care to guess which one was the beast and which the ineffective player?
The Beast was the Only one of them that had a double double... Here's a hint he's also the only one who's had a triple double this year. Heres another hint .. His name starts with a C....

Kobe had 2 triple doubles and Larry Hughes had one.

what kind of chips ?
Cool Ranch Doritos, so it was a pretty tempting offer.

Seeing as this thread has somehow veered off into basketball talk, had to get it back on the topic at hand: Chips.

Sloter, how do you both root for the Kings and against Webber? I would love to be there when you watch a Kings game...it would be hilarious!

There's a guy who 'roots' like that who sits in front of me sometimes at games. It's not nearly as amusing as you would think.

You know what it's like ?
It's cheering for Kings like normal fans and then praying to God and holding my breath when Webber dominates the ball. I guess that is pretty funny...
As for Amare vs. the guy whose name starts with C, let me remind you that the Suns coach made a critical mistake of matching up Marion (not Stoudamire!) against Webber for the good part of that game.

In that case, shouldn't you be spending all this time fretting about Brad Miller's game then.

Ah, so you saw that one huh? Any chance you noticed what types of shots Webb was taking that game? ;)

I wouldn't recommend holding your breath for long peroids of time. Oxygen deprivation does bad things to your brain. I am aware D'Antoni put Marion on Webb quite a bit (maybe they should fire him;) ) but you said Webb would be as ineffective as Vlade against the Dallas Mavs, which OBVIOUSLY wasn't the case. Did you know Stoudemire averages less than 10 boards a game? Surprising for a guy with his athletic abilities.

Way back when, Chris Webber made some comments. He said, among other things, that he wanted to play with guys who wanted to win as badly as he did. He also mentioned that he wanted to round out his game - to do everything he could to help his team win. He said other stuff, too...
I'm glad Webb stepped up and said what he said, but HOW he said it stunk, and I hope he NEVER does that again. Attacking your teammates through the media is a sucky tactic and usually just gets people pissed off at you. These types of things should be handled face-to-face with your teammates, your family, your brothers.

The Kings are a REALLY close group, they're like family. How would you feel if a family member of yours instead of telling you directly that they had a problem with you, went around and announced it on a public radio station?

That said, I've loved what Webber has done this season. I personally see no difference from previous years though. This is the same CWebb I've seen since he's been here in Sacramento. An incredibly good and gifted player, and I'm very happy we have him.

---Can It be summed up any better?? Chris is just emotional and maybe said to much... but It was a big press conference right after a dissapointing loss, obviously he worked it out with the guys(Peja) in person this season.

Catalyst - I've said many times that I wish Webber would NOT speak to the media, period. Every word of his is analyzed, dissected, re-analyzed, etc. to the point it's ridiculous. He spoke from the heart, and it got him in trouble with some.

Bottom line, however, is that it seems to have worked. Maybe, like ADelman finally getting mad, those things had to be said IN PUBLIC for the players involved to get the message.

Who knows? At this point, I like what I'm seeing from these guys!

:D

Really hate to beat a dead horse, and I too said I didn't like what he said and how he went around doing it, but what has been analyzed to death since the end of last season weren't even the worst things Webb has said. That supposed attack on his teammates? I've heard other things that are more direct. The type of players he wants to play with? He said the same thing the summer he was a FA.

Anyhow, all is virtually forgotten since he has been playing well.

he definitely has a million dollar smile :) that's why i changed my avatar ;)

hmm eversince i changed my avatar from bibby to webber (3 games ago) webb has been playing really well and bibby hasn't.. hmmm what should i do? should i change it back or not?! well, since those games resulted in wins, why change it..

hmm.. maybe you need an avatar with the whole team -- then they'd all play well?? :)

Oh, fries...That reminds me.

When Kingsgurl and I attended the Rockets game right before Thanksgiving, we tried the Arco garlic fries! I may have mentioned it before - in conjunction with my relief about not being attacked by vampires or werewolves after the game - but I think it bears repeating:

Arco garlic fries rock!!!
they are pretty expensive if you ask me, but worth it anyhow;)

VF21, Reina: Didn't mean to imply that either one of you were justifying his comments or anything. I was just stating my point of view on him. Sorry if I came off wrong.

Catalyst - If any player in the history of the Sacramento Kings can elicit mixed feelings, it's Chris Webber.

As long as we can talk about it without resorting to name-calling, insults, etc. I think it's all good... :D

Well, that was a long one. I have some weird habit of having to read every post before I can reply to anything.

Since we're on Chris Webber, he is playing his butt off. He is playing smart within himself and for the most part within the game. I don't think anyone can ask much more of him up to this point in the season. He has answered all the questions thus far about his knee. He can still obviously play at a high level, not necessarily altletically, but he makes up for that with heady play. I don't (at this point in the season) anyone expected much more from him.

I'm kinda with VF21 on this that I don't think he should say anything. He's not the greatest communicator in the world so he's bound to say something thats going to get him in trouble. He's a heck of basketball player, and this year he is playing as smart as I've ever seen him. IMO, he should stick to those old cliches and say as little as possible. He should take a page out of Tiger Wood's book and say the same thing after every game or whatever, but just say it in different words. Personally, I trust the players we have now to all be professionals and do thier jobs the best they can do and I think they all want to win.

The only two Kings I've ever criticized are Chris and Pedja... I guess because I expect so much of them. That said, Chris is playing at an incredible level. He's playing savvy, smart, and with heart. I thought I was dreaming when I watched the game against Indiana...
