G-League
From his twitter feed (subject to change)

Lebron and joe johnson to chicago
Wade and bosh to miami
Stoudemire and gay to new jersey
Boozer to new york
Lee to utah
Dirk to dallas

You're reaching that conclusion because Chad Ford predicts where some of the big name free agents are going to land? Seems a bit premature to conclude that the Kings are just going to sit on their hands and do diddly. I mean, at least wait until that's actually what happens.

I think at the least we could sign a Raja Bell or Anthony Morrow...and who would we be saving $$$ for next year anyway, Carmelo?!? Ummm...no thanks!

I was expecting this and mentioned it a while ago. The Kings are not in a position to spend. There's no point. The Kings have a solid team that, depending on how good Cousins is out of the gate, might be a .500 team. Or, they might be a 30 win team. Whatever the case, they cannot afford to spend a max deal on a non-max player like Joe Johnson or Rudy Gay. They don't need to overspend to get a player that isn't going to elevate this team, because they aren't a 50 win playoff team with or without them. Now, a sign and trade package would be the only realistic way of getting one of the better free agent players.

kyle korver is a nice player to target. decent size, defensive ability, great shooter. will stretch out the floor for tyreke & big cuz

Who in there right mind would want to come here when they can join a contender and still get max money. We are still rebuilding and no star will come here until we prove otherwise, anyways with a new CBA comming out I wouldn't want to sign a max contract with anyone.

Petrie said we would not be making a 'splash' in free agency according to jason jones of the bee.

so make of that what you will.

I don't think will make any huge splashes in free agency for the next few years. I believe they will let this team grow together and save the money to resign them when the time comes. Reke is going to be the go to guy and have a very strong supporting cast behind him as soon as the guys all develop.

With that being said I'm sure we will pick up pieces as needed to fill certian positions. I can't see the Kings forking out big cash this offseason excpecially since the new CBA heavily favors owners (so I've heard).

Next season we will probably look to resign Landry. I have a bad feeling we will over spend for a tweener PF. I wouldn't want to dish out more than the MLE for 3 years due to having JT, DMC, Whiteside and Brockman. However next season is not a strong FA class. Melo, Yao, Butler, Duncan are some of the big names but most of those guys are restricted or have options. or old. I really feel the Kings will move Dalembert by the deadline seeings how they don't want to loose out on getting some thing for his $12 mill. contract.

I just wonder if the Maloofs are going to spend significantly until this economy turns around. I doubt it.

My prediction: Petrie signs someone for the MLE and gets one or two at the LLE or vet minimum. Around a .500 season, too.

First off, when your under the cap there is no MLE or LLE. Now if your just referring to that amount of money, then I would agree with you. I think the Kings are in a wait and see position. They've basicly changed the face of the team, and I doubt they know for sure what they have. That being the case it would be stupid to add anyone for big money until you know for sure what your long term needs are.

They will add a couple of players though. Ideally someone that could play both SG and PG would be perfect. But if not, then they have to address both positions indivually. Someone like Steve Blake springs to mind.

Ahhh...totally brain farted about the 'under the cap no MLE/LLE' thing, thanks. Also, I agree...and thought about Steve Blake myself, and Raja Bell. The idea of bringing back Jason Williams to backup at PG wasn't bad either, IMO. Anthony Morrow is another guy I hope we might give a call too. The biggest name I could see us bringing in would be Mike Miller, but that would add to a logjam of swing players already. I'd say no to the Hedo thing too.

I think we should just bring Udoka back and see where we stand with all the new additions before we committ any real money to anyone. Then maybe we can be players in deadline deals if we are in the hunt.

Say no to Ime! :D
I only say that because he was already here and we'd get him cheap. If there is another 2 guard that can just step in for spot minutes that will come cheap then I'd give him a go too. But I don't want to spend more than say twice the minimum contract and I'd prefer it be a 1 year deal, maybe 2 with a team option.

Maybe Steve Blake and/or Anthony Morrow. Blake would be a good adult/veteran presence. That's about all I think we need at this point until we see how all the new additions shake out. Perhaps another defensive specialist guard. That would be about it.

There was a bit of sarcasm in my saying that...hence the use of the word 'diddly'. :D

Jason Jones posted up on Twitter yesterday that he had just spoke to Geoff Petrie and from what Geoff told him he expects the Kings to make little to no spalsh in free agency. They will probably fill the rest of their roster with undrafted/Summer League invites.

We'll see if that is a Petrie Jedi mind trick, or not.
