Celtics vs. 76ers

Huge game for both teams. Boston wins, they get a 3 game lead for the third spot and are closer to clinching the Atlantic Divison, if not, clinching it. If 76ers win, they're within 1 game of the third spot.

Right now, the Celtics are leading by a point with 1:35 left in the 4th quarter.

yep, that was a huge game. Bummer for the 76ers. Even bigger bummer for Webb who had a very subpar game his first night back from his injury. 2-10 shooting, and missed 3 crucial free throws in the 4th. Looked like his shoulder was bugging him. Too bad, I was happy to finally watch Webb cause I don't get to see many 76er games, and I was hoping he'd have a good game.

^ lol yeah me too. i was so happy to see barnes, even if he wasn't playing :(

tough game for webb. i felt so bad. i watched parts of the game. i was switching channels cause i was watching 3 shows at the same time. well, i don't think i saw him smile, once. :( that sucks. hope he's really happy there.

Philly fans are brutal!

They were booing Webb after he missed some free throws and then you could see him look at the crowd after he made a shot.

I'm sure he misses Sac!

From 76ers post game report:

76ers Head Coach Jim O'Brien

On Chris possibly being less than 100 percent
“You would have to ask Chris. I know that we need Chris down the stretch so we need to get him as many minutes on the basketball court as we possibly can because he is going to be crucial for us. I appreciated that Chris and [Allen] both played gutsy basketball games.”

Sixers Guard Allen Iverson

On tonight’s crowd
“I love my fans in Philadelphia, and that had a lot to do with me signing here. But I don’t know how good you can play when you hear your own home crowd booing you. That’s something you mentally prepare yourself for when you go on the road. That’s something you know you have to deal with on the road. When you’re at home, you never expect that. Regardless of how bad you play, you never expect that. If you’re playing bad as a team, then yeah, I can see people booing. If you’re booing us as a team, then rightfully so. But singling one guy out? It was just tough for me to deal with, because I was thinking, as much as I love these fans and the relationship I have with these fans in nine years, I wouldn’t know how to react if they did that to me.”

Sixers Forward Chris Webber
On whether he came back too soon
“I wanted to come back and be here for a big game like that. Something’s got to change. Hopefully, it will get better soon.”

On whether his return threw off the chemistry
“I’m sure that me being back maybe threw some chemistry off since the guys have been playing so well. This is a real tough one to swallow.”

On why Boston got to the line more often
“It has to do with a little bit of both. It depends on what the situation is. We are frustrated that we didn’t get some calls, but I’m sure they were too. It seems like they got to the line a bunch, but that is just the way games like this go. Hopefully, so good comes out of this. We get closer every day. Guys resolve and still stick together and guys still want to win bad as ever. To me, that’s great in the locker room. You want that win - that is more important - but [to have that feeling in the locker room] is great.”

On whether his shoulder is affecting his shot
“Truthfully, if it is, I shouldn’t be playing. So maybe that’s my fault.”

On whether there is a big adjustment when he and Allen return to the lineup
“The adjustment is more when I come back, because Allen has been here for so long. Guys like Marc and Sam are having great games, and to have me come back, I’m sure that throws them off a little bit. We are going to get it together. I feel like I have to do something and make this move. We’ll see what that is.”

No doubt about it, Webb is down. I feel so bad for him. I can't believe how badly he is struggling, and to come back for such a huge game for Philly & then to have a bad game... I keep waiting for things to really click for him, and I hope it does soon... some Philly fans on the boards already want him gone....

I know, it's horrible to come back & then not be wanted & not be able to play well. I watched the game, and it just made me so sad. It's weird to me that he isn't playing better yet. It seems like he really hasn't gotten his shot back for extended periods since the trade. Yeah, Philly's offense is hard to work in, but that doesn't make you miss open shots. I honestly think it's mental. I think between being upset about the trade (especially in the beginning) and then feeling the pressure from the Philly fans, its' just in his head right now. Come on Webb, get it together! We KNOW you're better than this!

Some of Webb's shots is bad shot selections. That's another reason why he misses them so badly. Very low percent shots of making it. Sometimes I don't know why he does that (take those low % shots). But I'm not surprise to see him do that..

O'brien's offense values perimeter shooting, remember when he coached the Boston Celtics? They attempted more 3's then the Mavs.

Anyways, If you have Marc Jackson taking the last 3/4 shots of the game you are screwed.

Yeah, shot selection is a huge problem for him right now. And part of it may be that he is forcing himself to take any shots he can get instead of waiting for a better shot. He feels the pressure to perform and he's not getting half the touches he got here, so he seems to feel the need to shoot whenever he can. Unfortunately the whole situation is just a problem. It killed me when he missed all those free throws at the end, you know it's just in his head right now.

Chris Webber the only super star who can come bakc from an injury to be blamed for his teams loss rather than have his recnet injury used as an explanation for poor play... {Celt shakes his head}

From all of this, its obvious that Webber needs to get his act together and more importantly fast. I don't know how the shoulder, but generally those kind of injures take some time to heal completely.
The only good thing is that Webber is accepting that his performance is hampering the team and he is trying to work towards it. But I am sure that he will be back.

seriously. especially funny considering that the 76ers were +13 with Webb on the floor, and like -13 when he wasn't playing. Obviously having him in there helped open up the other shooters, even though he wasn't shooting well.

But, I do think he has struggled offensively since the trade, and there are issues that need to be worked out for him to be successful on the 76ers even once he's healthy again.
