Cavs @ Kings Game Thread

This was a fun game to watch. I didn't like the no-call on Martin's attempt, but I loved the hustle.

Keep in mind the Kings just lost to a team that made the NBA Finals last season and the Kings were missing Bibby and Artest.

Good games for:

Martin - 32 points and 6 rebounds, ESPN referred to him and LeBron as " two stars." Played 46 minutes, which is a bit too much.

Garcia - 18 points on 7-14 shooting and six rebounds (held onto the ball too much instead of setting up Martin and other teammates)

Douby - 10 points and six rebounds off the bench

It would have been nice to see Hawes make his debut.

The future is looking bright but changes must still be made (Thomas, SAR, Moore).

I hope everybody realizes that Kevin effectively took 26 shots tonight (17 + 18FTs/2). There are only so many any one player can get.

It's more of finding Kevin in his comfort zone. He's still not too great off the dribble, and our lame excuses for point guards are getting him the ball in difficult situations.

It's great how he still manages to get to the free throw line. But Lebron said it best in that little interview after the game, that when they took away his pump fake, they took away whatever advantage he had in the situation. Like that last play with 2 seconds left, I wish he had attacked the second he got the ball when he had a step on Lebron and faded for that little patented hangtime shot he's got instead of pump faking and letting Lebron catch up to him.

I think that's him falling too much in love with drawing the foul. The refs are going to error on the side of letting guys play at the end rather than deciding it with a whistle. Was my biggest concern as the play was set up (that Kevin would look to draw the foul rather than make the shot), and sure enough. Can't put it on the refs to win you the game (or tie it) in that situation. Have to go take care of it yourself.

How many rebounds did Mikki have? I know Douby had more with 6 >.>

But Miller had his second straight game with 10 plus rebounds and also had 3 blocks which was nice, just didn't score much.

Moore grabbed 4, KT got 7. Where we got killed was offensive boards, 18 to 7 (Ilgauskas alone got more than our franchise).

Yeah. I hope the coaching staff points that out, because it's seriously a concern lingering from last year.

Nah, I'd rather have 5 wins and the 1st overall pick than
35 wins, just miss the playoffs and 10th overall pick.

Ah, but you're replying to someone from Burnaby, which is just east of Vancouver. And if anyone knows that something worse can happen to your franchise, it's someone from there.

Yeah, Kevin's got to develop some move that gets him a clear look in a short time. I trust that he'll do this (I mean, just the fact that he's averaging 27 ppg is incredible so far), but if he's going to take the last shot he's going to need to get a clear look, foul or no foul. But let's not overlook the fact that Kevin is very nearly singlehandedly keeping the Kings in these games. He looks like he's taken another leap forward this season -- just imagine if he were getting good passes and/or playing with a real point guard. It's seriously encouraging.

And I'm hoping that Kevin will learn that and do exactly that.

I do agree with you here Brick, and hopefully that's a lesson Kevin will learn. Remember, this is the first season he's our #1 option at the end of games. I personally love the fact he's able to draw fouls as well as he does, but do agree that at the ends of games, he'll have to make the plays to win the games.

just got back--

what an exciting game. its so refreshing seeing this team go out and fight every night!

Kevin Martin is the TRUTH!

Mikki Moore andKenny THomas are TERRIBLE

You've got them backwards.

A lin is a loss that is really a win in terms of draft sequence. A woss is a win that is actually a loss as far as the draft goes.

loss to win = lin. win to loss = woss.

Whatchu talkin' bout, Willis?

I just got home from the game and the refs screwed us. Martin got fouled on that second to last play and no call. If that is LeBron that call is made. Also those fouls called for LeBron towards the last 2 mins when he scored what 7 points in a row were some B.S. touch fouls. Other than that though it was great effort and they contained LeBron til the end. We played great defense tonight holding the Cavs to 38 percent shooting. I like Garcia running the point over Salmons because he is much better at seeing the floor.
