Casspi while the Eurobasket Qualifation

Yeah, he came over here to try his luck in summer league this year after tearing up the greek leagues for a few years, and didn't look very good. Too short/heavy to have any explosiveness and couldn't bully guys even in summer league, so thought he'd be headed back to Europe somewhere.

He did a great job against Lebron James, Dwight Howard, Chris Bosh, Carmelo Anthony and friends when Greece eliminated the US in the world championship...i'm not looking to open a front here, but please don't underestimate a player or a league(not leagues, he played in only one greek league obviously..) you don't really know in such way, and you don't know, since he almost haven't played in the last couple of years more than 10-15 minutes/game and definitely wasn't tearing any league.

Pro career
Won the Italian SuperCup: (2003)
4x Greek All Star Game: (2005, 2006, 2007, 2010)
2x Greek All Star Game MVP: (2006, 2010)
Won the Greek Cup: (2010)

Call it what you like. I have no interest in the greek league, but Baby Shaq has clearly been one of its most decorated big men for years. It was obvious this summer that it was not going to translate though.

Anything with the word "cup" in it in Europe basically means it's a consolation prize for those who couldn't win championships. It's a one-game elimination system, and often very weak teams win these "cups".

Regardless, as SPMP stated, "baby-shaq" has averaged about 15 MPG in recent years. He has been far from dominant in the greek league or the Euroleague. He has the size and talent, but he is grossly overweight and out of shape, and if Maccabi managed to sign him for about $600,000, which is very low even in european standards, that means there weren't many teams waiting in line to sign him, not only in the NBA, but in Europe as well.

As i said, I'm not looking to argue with you, it's just that you were a little too arrogant in your post and it was based on a very false "knowledge".
As for your examples, Like Asaf said, A Cup system is not the championship, it's an elimination type of tournament that was created to give the smaller teams a chance of winning a title, in Greece by the way, it takes place even before the regular season is started, so winning it says nothing about his performance especially when he can win it while sitting on the bench every game...And all-star, come on..

The last couple of seasons his averages is something like 7-8 points and 3-4 rebounds per game in 10-15 minutes, he had big problems during the last years keeping his weight down and he already reached almost 400 pounds, this is why he haven't teared anyone or hardly played, last year and today he's in a better shape and starting to become a more effective player, don't be too sure you won't see him in an NBA team in 2 years from now.

Those three morons made a honest man out of Bavetta

Piksi has just resolved my metaphysical dilemma.

No mere mortals could make Bavetta an honest man.
Three moron refs made Bavetta an honest man.
Therefore:
The gods must be moronic basketball referees.

Hey, it makes a certain degree of sense.

Forgot to write it over here and no one wrote it so -
Israel in amazing away win on Latvia - 92-56 , Casspi wirht 12 Points,
If israel gonna win the 2 next matches against Finalnd (Home) and Montenegro (Away) their gonna be the first place and qualifie automaticlly for the Eurobasket Lithunia 2011 next summer.
if israel gonna win only Finalnd, their gonna be 2nd but most likely Qualifie either since they got the best record from all the 2nd places right now.
