Sacramento has pledged to veteran Caron Butler that it will trade him to a team where he can have a larger role. As a Wisconsin native, the Bucks have emerged as the leader. … http://es.pn/1RpBGDT -via ESPN http://es.pn/app

I hope the Kings basically have a deal done, otherwise why do you announce this first? Although I guess it is not like he is worth a ton of value at this point, but still...

Butler for Antetokounmpo works, salary-wise :)
Seriously though, what would the Bucks give up that we want? Second round pick, maybe O'Bryant with Moreland out?

Caron's not worth a player from anybody. I'd take one of course, because now we are going to be a bit shorthanded in case of injury and having to play Anderson "up". Hope that isn't what the Dukan callup was about.

I don't think they'd send O'Bryant with Monroe hurting. But since they have 15 roster slots taken up, they have to send somebody. Hello, Damien Inglis!

If its a player swap with the Bucks the likely guys are Plumlee, Copeland or Ingles. I would put my money on Copeland since Vlade was in the market for a stretch 4.
Copeland is an interesting dude, back when he was in New York he was even capable of putting up a 30+pt night when he heated up, but he's so wildly undisciplined and soft I do wonder if he has it in him to be serious about a playoff run. Still, if our team culture has firmed up enough here that we can get by without the extra veteran voice Caron provides, I don't think Copeland would be a bad swap at all. Would join our big SF crew, can really shoot, and he's not a kid. He bounced all over the world before making it to the NBA and with Caron gone, Copeland might actually be our oldest player.

The Bucks cut him last season, didn't they? Why the hell would they trade actual assets for him after cutting him?

EDIT: I guess they cut him when he played for them in 13-14

uhh... why?

Dude's like Butler are exactly what we need at the end of our bench. I guess if he's pissed he's not playing, then that isn't helpful to the locker room. But did/does he really think he'll have a 10-15 min role somewhere? Seems fairly obvious on a team with Rudy and Casspi that there wasn't a lot of room for him.

Didn't see this coming. I thought he came here to be a mentor type of guy. Not sure where he thinks he can go to get rotation minutes.

He has a nice story, so wish him well, but hope he wasn't being a locker room problem here.

MWP/Clarkson/Huertas for Butler/Curry

Kobe would retire together with Caron in LA uniform (nothings special there). Lakers gives Curry lots of minutes at backup PG to keep their fan base' sanity.
We get a mentor in World Peace (seriously!), a white chocolate with wrinkles (Huertas), and the a damn good player in Clarkson.

Lakers are a mess and in an emotional stress would probably eventually trade us Clarkson for no sane reason. LOL

I think Copeland is a bit redundant with Casspi and we could use a player with some upside. If the Bucks are really interested in Butler I would try to trade for Inglis. 6'8 with a 7'3 wingspan and was labeled as a player able to guard 3 positions. With the NBA moving more into the "switch everything" and play a lot of versatile, quick players direction a prospect like this doesn't look too shabby.

Really? Caron Butler has been a class act his entire time here. I see absolutely NO reason to wish him anything but the best. It's not always necessary to take a shot at a player.

Get off your high horse for a second. That was not a insult to Caron, you misinterpreted my comment and spinned it in your own way, which is what you like to do anyway. Tell me what team wants a 35 year old Caron Butler who has nothing left in the tank...ohh so a team wants a voice in the locker room? so they will trade for him. I got cha now. o_O

Seems like this announcement is to notify all teams that Caron is available for a limited time and if no one else is interested, the Bucks get him for basically nothing. Maybe the Kings can get a conditional first rounder or a second rounder for him. Wish him all the best, though... seems like this year, our third string guys are having trouble finding the floor; not really a good place for a veteran.

Butler + McLemore = Kevin Martin?
it occurred to me too, although a) I'm not sure you want to break up the core after the core has just started coming together, and b) you'd need to add in Dukan as well to make salaries work.

You'd also need to sign in another body from somewhere as a backup SF type.

you realize this is George Karl we are talking about. Kevin Martin would be a SF under Karl. then he could push his starting 2 pg's with Rondo and Collison

For real, exactly what I was thinking. You weren't putting him down, it was a legit question.

If Moreland hadn't have gotten hurt, I'd could have seen a Butler/Moreland for Plumlee deal but Plumlee is now playing because of injuries and Moreland is hurt. I know nothing of Ingles other than what was posted here on him. If he's a defensive type wing, really that's probably the return your gonna get or a 2nd round pick. Maybe a 3 team deal involving Milwaukee and someone else.

I think Karl is really liking the Casspi/Gay/Cousins starting frontline.....would be nice to have another full sized SF type as a backup.
