I'm thinking same. I trust Dave. Dude knew about virtually everything arena/team stay/new ownership related before almost any other media person.
I think we've got Karl, and it's only a matter of time before we all know.
As a bonus I'm hoping we get a new GM as well.
I was on board with Karl only because I thought he was best available. I am not willing to bring in Karl for the sake of Karl. He is only a means to an end. And that end is finding a coach that can maximize winning. How much any coach can win in Sacramento will partially be determined upon getting the most out of DMC. If there is another available coach who can get the most out of DMC, then we should get that coach instead of Karl.
It is foolish to force a style of play on DMC that doesn't play to his strengths. No sane person would have put Duncan or Shaq or Olajuwon or, etc. on a run and gun team.
Vivek has the most incredible opportunity here. After the massive pace-up that is the Malone firing, he can still ride a float into Sleep Train - to rowdy applause - by hiring Karl. His STH will all renew (I will do it as soon as I see Karl on the sideline). The new arena is a guaranteed sell-out.
Even if he always had his heart set on Gentry or somebody else... it doesn't matter. He must strike while the iron is hot. I don't see how he lets this slip through his fingers.
What a lucky pace Vivek is, that he has the chance to wipe the slate clean with one contract!
Can somebody explain why my post got deleted?
Forgive me in advance, but your conspiracy narrative is baseless and sort of paranoid/schizophrenic. Let me clear where Vivek/FO stands on this one base on credible articles out there already.Well-
this dog and pony show certainly fits my conspiracy narrative wherein Vivek doesn't want Cousins on the team, and manages to get Demarcus blamed for not getting Karl as coach.
According to carmichaeldave, its GentryI don't disagree with that. I do disagree that George Karl is the only hope Obi Wan Kenobi. Or at least I want to hear who their proposed alternative is.
That I believe is management's alternative. Same guy they tried to backstab Malone with, that Malone thought he had fought off with Corbin hire.According to carmichaeldave, its Gentry

And gee just typing that, I wonder why we can't win on the court, when all our energy is spent playing office politics behind the scenes.
WOJ is reporting it. Anything WOJ reports isn't a rumor.... best NBA inside in the league, and he has great sources. He's hardly ever, if ever reported anything false or untrue.

This again?Forgive me in advance, but your conspiracy narrative is baseless and sort of paranoid/schizophrenic. Let me clear where Vivek/FO stands on this one base on credible articles out there already.
Vivek/FO were actually very high on Cousins even at the very start that they went ahead into signing him for extension, despite the reported reluctance of Malone on giving Cousins his contract extension. Unlike Malone, they are smart enough at the very start and already figured this franchise cannot go anywhere without Cousins's enormous talent. They did not have second thoughts - unlike Malone. The issue was actually mentioned as one of the number of cumulative reasons why Malone was fired. It does not make sense to think Vivek/FO does not want Cousins on the team, when all along Vivek defended the decision publicly to sign Cousins for contract extension.
Vivek Ranadivé speaks out on Malone firing
http://www.sactownroyalty.com/2014/12/17/7409997/vivek-ranadive-michael-malone-firing
"I've been beaten before," he said. "They said that Seattle had won, and we would never be able to keep this team. People said that Cousins was toxic, and he was a cancer and we should get rid of him. They said that Rudy [Gay] was terrible, and even if he came, he would never stay. They said if Isaiah [Thomas] left, the team would fall apart. So look, I'm surrounded by really smart people, and they give me great advice. They call the shots, and I support them."
Michael Malone opposed extensions for DeMarcus Cousins, Rudy Gay

Sam Amick is delivering the other side of the story, emphasis mine.
From Malone's reluctance to endorse the offering of contract extensions for DeMarcus Cousins and Rudy Gayto his preference that departed point guard Isaiah Thomas was re-signed in free agency to the pursuit of a new lead assistant coach during the summer, there were disagreements about personnel and style of play at every turn that brought them all to this tipping point.
And BTW, the hiring of Karl seems to be complicated "financially" and "timing-wise" according to my source. Cousins is willing to play for any coach I was told.
Time to accept the fact that minus that nice run when Petrie captured lightening in a bottle..this is a loser franchise and always will be. Change in ownership and the same dysfunction and poor play still exists. Makes not getting a ring in 2002 that much more painful.

The politics is killing this franchise. I wish we could just hit a restart button and start again from 18 months ago. This is amateurs hour at its worst.
The light is actually a BRAND SHINY NEW Sports and Entertainment Center currently being built at this very second! It opens in 2031 or something, I haven't checked the date recently, but do know that nothing matters until then.
One thing you could do to pass the time while your waiting for the BRAND NEW Downtown Sports and Entertainment Center to be finished is to sign up for Season Tickets. They guarantee that you yourself can watch exciting Kings basketball (3.0) from the comfort of your very own NEW seat at the BRAND NEW Downtown Sports and Entertainment Center.
You thought Kings basketball was 3.0? Just wait until you see Arena 3.0!
Who could these influential minority owners be? Does anyone know what percentage Mark Mastrov and Jacobs Family own? Are they not two largest minority share holder behind Vivek Ranadive's around 60% majority? Surely this list (link) of minority owners mostly local Sac area, adding maybe add Shaq couple others are not the "resistance" partners. Somehow it has smokescreen feel - like problem lies elsewhere - but where?

I don't think I've seen an NBA team run this poorly (save perhaps Sterling... but that was actually on purpose)... really ever.
Here's what is happening in my view.
Vivek broke his toy. He ****ing broke it. And now he has to ask nicely to play with it again.
If Vivek had his way, Mullin would have been coach already. Then the next guy was Mark Jackson, now it's Karl. Seems whoever he talks to last is the guy.
And now the rest of the owners, Boogie's agents, etc, they don't trust him to make decisions. He rushed into both hiring and firing Malone and it's been a disaster.
They're right not to trust him, and there should be pushback. When the owner allows devastating decisions to be made with no plan whatsoever, he stops getting to make those decisions without being questioned at every turn.
And right now it's very public. No more 'behind the scenes' in sac. All the junior high drama is playing out on Twitter for all to see. And it's ugly.
