Can you outsmart your foot?

I guess there are some things that the brain cannot handle. This will boggle your mind and you will keep you trying over and over again to see if you can outsmart your foot, but you can't. It's pre-programmed in your brain!

1. Without anyone watching you (they will think you are GOOFY!!) and while sitting at your desk in front of your computer, lift your right foot off the floor and make clockwise circles with it...

2. Now, while doing this, draw the number '6' in the air with your right hand. Your foot will change direction. I told you so!!! And there's nothing you can do about it!

You and I both know how stupid it is, but before the day is done you are going to try it again, if you've not already done so.

Send it to your friends to frustrate them too.

Bwahahahaha! Okay, I'm an idiot. I had to try. I tried so hard concentrating on keeping my foot moving in a clockwise direction that I could not draw the 6.

It's like not being able to sneeze without your eyes closing. I guess there are exceptions that prove the rule. Either that or you, pdxKingsFan, are from Alpha Centauri. :p

I must be doing something wrong... I did it without a problem?
Yes, and you should see a neurologist immediately. ;)

When I saw the title of the thread, before I even opened it, I was thinking, "First thing on Monday morning? Of course my foot, nose, elbow or any other part could outsmart me." :p

And, of course, I could not do it.

Shoould be noetd that this only works if you draw your sixes counterclockwise, starting from the tip of the arm, rather than clockwise starting from the circular ball at the bottom (like I do). But it does work.

I draw mine from the tip, still can repeat. Still pretty sure I was born on Earth too.

Lefthanded?
Nope right handed (can switch hit and shoot hockey left handed though). I'm goofy footed, but I tried with my left foot and had no problem either.

Maybe I just play too many video games, getting my feet going took some serious brain effort (watch me try to work a bass drum pedal for a real hoot!), the 6 was entirely brainless.

This irritated me to no end. I'm too competitive. And I couldn't even beat my foot! :p

So, I seriously kept trying until I did. (kinda sad I know) lol. ;)

I can do it easily, too. I can also rub my belly and pat my head with no problems.

I am a bit of a freak, though. I write with my left hand, shoot with my right, and I'm right footed (football). Also do my 6's from the top.

Another one to try, is to put your two index fingers in front of you horizontally, the ends touching eachother. Now, make circular motions with each of your fingers, but going in the opposite direction. Your fingers should stay horizontal and flat, going outwards at first, then down, then inwards, then up (and repeat), but do it the opposite direction with each finger/hand (for example, when you start off, one finger should move outwards, then down etc. as described above, while your other finger starts off by coming inwards, then down etc.). I hope I explained that OK. Most people can't do it. I can!

I don't believe you. I'll need to see video. Seriously.

Haha, it's true! I couldn't at first, but you can get it with some practice. Here's a tip: When you bring both fingers down (I assume you can do this much), bring the two fingers together so they meet again, then go opposite direction upwards. Keep repeating. You'll get it after some time.

I really couldn't do that one for a while. It drove me crazy. I eventually got it, and it seems easy now.

Finger trick was pretty easy, got them both going one way and then switched on the left hand. I'm sure this one is a completely video game related skill.

Can you prove it? I asked KG4 when she was about 8 to prove to me she wasn't an alien. It was a great way to get her to start thinking outside the box.

Proof: I'm not an alien because I'm your daughter.
Reply: How do you know I'M not an alien? They could look and act just like us.

Proof: I have a birth certificate.
Reply: Of course you do. I printed it myself.

Proof: Grandma says I'm human.
Reply: She's the queen of the aliens. She lies.

Proof: If I was from another planet I could fly. Superman can fly.
Reply: You're not from Krypton.

etc...

We had some great discussions over a period of a couple of years because of this. And she still remembers...and she doesn't automatically accept very many things at face value.

And she still doesn't know what planet we're really from. :p

I can't prove it. I was adopted, which is why I said I'm only pretty sure I was born on this planet :)

That was easy. Don't know how pretty a circle the left finger was drawing, but I did it.
