Why is Keegan Murray playing in this tournament? ....- I see playing as little more than an injury risk. Other players, sure......see what's what. Anyway....

As previously stated (or should have been) I'm not a professional.

But my amateur eye test says that Keegan has really improved his core stability to be able to hit a shot like that. Watch how stable his upper body remains throughout rise, release, contact, and landing (off balance).

Feels like we some have secret weapons on the coaching and training staff.

I'm surprised at how comfortable Colby Jones looks with the basketball. If he can get to the point where he can guard 1-3, and play the wing while adding additional ball handling... that's a valuable player and absolutely fills multiple gaps.

He initiated the offense for Xavier a lot this season. He is used to running an offense, just needs to up his ball handling from college level to NBA level.

Wanted to post on Charlotte. Seems like all of their draft picks just suck.
Bouknight can’t play. He’s not good.
Kai Jones just isn’t very good, got completely dominated by Barlow
Smith Jr……I bet he follows Bouknight in not working out

Miller, like others, he was sure looking poor out there. Then he knocked down the long jumpers towards the end of the game. I think he’s going to be ok….maybe better than ok. Charlotte had no PG to set him up and they just looked like they got together yesterday and put something together. With Ball running the team, I can see Miller having a Keegan-esque type year just knocking down the 3 and playing D and rebounding. Asking him to do more than that will ne a problem.
Didn't they also end up with James Nnaji this year after all those Boston trades? MJ leaving might be the best thing for them -- his draft record has been really poor. He did draft Malik Monk in 2017 though -- they just never committed to giving him playing time and he struggled with his shot in limited minutes. Their loss!

good info in this one but if you are short on time start listening at 12 minutes. A veery interesting take on Keegan from one of the kings scouts

It'll be nice to silence the doubters (on this board) sooner rather than later... the ones who called Monte and Vivek all sorts of really mean names for not signing that "third star" when we clearly have one on the roster.

These comments by Coach Loucks match the few highlights I saw from the gym today. Was a man among boys.

The nicest thing is the growth of Keegan. At no point would anyone, Kings fans or not, be mistaken that Keegan isn't the best out there in this game. The sky is the limit for this kid and I'm so excited to see what he got moving forward.

I'll have to go back and find where I read it, but I believe Mike Brown asked him to play - at least in a couple games.

In part he wants to use it as a chance to help instill the new culture with the young guys from day 1.

Murray is clearly using it as a chance to expand his game a bit, but I believe that was the main reason - his coach asked him to.

I reckon that Miller guy will be really good he had a bad game but the size/super quick handle/ release is going to be very good, first time watching him but the skills are there.

Barlow from the Spurs was probably the best player of day 1 (I think someone on this forum mentioned trying to get him?) never seen him before but flat out dominated both ends. Heat fans now apparently making JJ and Jovic untouchable after 1 summer league game is hilarious.

Is there a single French player who has not played for the Spurs? (Batum/Pietrus?) Parker/Diaw/Sidy/Wemby/Lauvergne/Nando De Colo have all played for them

Yeah, I guess there are reasons why a team stays bad as we all are familiar with….missing on picks or not developing them. Ball is working out and so did Bridges until his problems.
Bouknight body language was not great either

Yeah that was some surprising lift. It’s going to be fun to see him grow athletically over the next few years under a NBA regimen.
I mean it's G-League defenders, but I think the best thing I saw from Keegan was he wasn't as stiff as he was in his rookie year. Showed a lot more fluidity and wiggle with the ball rather than being very "robotic" and just simply running the offense. Actually took his opportunities for some self-creation.

Agree. Crafty was the word that came to mind when watching him which is exactly what we want to see.

Give this guy another 2-3 years, and he may have a lot of this NBA game figured out.

Keegan being good, Jones being good and this summer being a missed opportunity are not mutually exclusive. Been a huge Keegan fan and think he will be great but that doesn’t mean he fills the hole at 3 and D defensive stopper.

I think one of the more encouraging aspects was the play of Neemi after a poor 1st quarter. He particularly got better with the timing on his screens and dribble hand offs. A rim protector back up center is an area of need.

Good to see Keegan working on his driving game...but I also would like him to work on his defense and rebound too because those are actually Kings glaring weakness. 1 rebound for the entire game?

Keegan breaking out and becoming our third star precisely means that he fills the hole at 3. This means going out and signing a star SF would have be shooting (forward) yourself in the foot and hamstringing your roster building capacity going (shooting) forward.

Wing defense is being addressed by Edwards and through the draft... and anyways signing a backup defensive SF should not have been the reason to not sign HB or Lyles.

We agree interior defense remains an issue to be addressed. We have Len for now. It's about priorities.
