Brad was on with Grant and Mike today. Talked about home prices in Oklahoma and how having a pond increases the property value in Brad's hometown. :D

Brad said they went through a lot of video "and the video doesn't lie" about defensive rotations, Brad needing to set better picks, and better execution offensively when teams start switching up how they play defensively against the Kings.

Grant tried to get Brad to agree that Peja wasn't much help on the floor if his offensive game wasn't working, but Brad didn't bite and said they are all professionals and if the offensive end of your game isn't flowing or injuries are slowing you down you need to find other ways to contribute. He said Peja spreads the floor just by being out there standing in the corner, because teams won't leave him open.

I find it funny how grant says the CWebb trade was good for the team cuz the team wants him to, but why does he try to turn the team against eachother and the city like this? This confuses me.

Not funny at all, actually. Grant will always start bad-mouthing the guys who are on the way out the door. Softening public perception (of course, in this case, most of us had realized many of the things he is now able to talk about awhile ago) What you can assume from that is that Peja is, indeed, being heavily shopped.
He's nothing but a puppet.

I hope.

And THAT is the best illustration of why I have no respect whatsoever for Howdy Doody.

While he's broadcasting the games, he's continually finding ways to build Peja up, to talk about how he's still contributing even if his shots aren't falling, etc.

Then, on his radio show, he does his best Jim Rome impersonation, which I'm sure Jim Rome finds highly offensive as does anyone else with even half a brain.

The way he fawned over Bobby Jackson in Memphis was positively troubling. He acted as though he (Howdy) HADN'T pretty much accused Boby of dogging it when he was having the abdominal problems back in the day and then he acts as though he and Bobby had always been tight? Sorry, but I guess I'm just old-fashioned. I expect a little bit of INTEGRITY from the people I listen to for news of my favorite team. It's a shame that's apparently gone out of vogue.

The charade has gone on long enough. Grant Napear is about as impartial as feet are to toes. I would shout loudly about boycotting his stupid radio show but it's not really that effective when I can't get KHTK in the first place.

So, instead, I'll just push for a move to dump Grant Napear from the broadcast team and replace him with Gary Gerould, arguably the best sportscaster to ever come out of Sacramento.

I second that. Gerould's play by play is the best there is.

But even as some people dont care for Napear, on the radio side of the play-by-play is where he shines. TV doesnt do him justice, IMO. I have always, as a radio guy myself for the last 11 years, respected him for that fact. Although, being born and raised here, have always respected G-Man for his consistency and knowledge as a sportscaster in general, with all sports...as many of us can remember, he's done everything, and still is a correspondant for ABC Indy racing, too. Total class:)

Hey Circa.... Gman did NHRA Drag Racing last year. And will this year too :p

That's why Grant is so popular and will stay on the Radio is because everybody talks about him and listen to him.

That's how you get the ratings.

Again, as I have said before, on his radio show he is primarily an entertainer. If you are not entertained, don't listen. I listen on the drive home from work every day to catch up on the day's sports news. At times I agree and like what he's saying, at times I don't. I do not take it personally, as some here apparently do. It's not like what he says really has any weight to it - just an opinion.

I like his radio/TV work during the games a lot better than Sportsline, though, as most others here have said.

I remember back in about 1987 when that "no-talent" Grant Napier was on i believe the channel 31 "sports team." Is he still on any of the local channels doing sports? I live in Post Falls, ID so fortunately i don't see his mug on tv(other than during the Kings broadcast on Dish Network). It's to bad you couldn't trade broadcasters away!!:)

I'd trade him for a dead Chick Hearns anyday!!! He would have more insightful things to say!!

Kings baby!!! Wooooooooooooo!!!!!!

As I have said before, the main problem is that Grant Napear is also the broadcaster for the Sacramento Kings. So, when he says something, whether it's during a game or on his radio show, people seem to give his comments the same weight. I've heard and read, "Hey, he works for the Maloofs so what he says must be true" more times than I can count.

It's not a matter of taking anything personally. It's a matter of credibility on the part of Grant Napear. And, even more than that, it's a matter of which "truth" he's going to tell. Is he going to be the "cutting edge" sharp-tongued Jim Rome-wannabe OR is he going to be the spokesman for the Sacramento Kings?

The viewer/listener shouldn't have to stop and figure out which face Napear is showing to them. He does player interviews, he talks with authority about things going on with the team, he talks about discussions he's had with players, coaches, etc. That's on TV, so I guess we assume it's the Kings spokesperson face, right? And then, on the radio, he attacks players, he makes snide comments that are patently untrue, and he bites the hand of both the fans and the Kings who have made it possible for him to earn a living.

Sorry, but I'm tired of having to try and remember whether or not I should give any credence to his comments.

And Angelina Jolie can be an actress and a spokesperson for humanitarian groups. Do you get her roles confused when you are in the theater? How about Arnie when he's on TV - is he an actor or the Governor? Is a movie playing or does he represent the State of California?

I don't see why it's so hard to separate the two. Rome does interviews, do you confuse him with a team representative as well? And being an emloyee of the organization does not mean he's a spokesman for it. He's a play-by-play guy, he's not RA or GP or JR. There's a big difference.

I'm not attacking you, it just seems like some of these complaints are so, well, trivial when he's obviously just giving an opinion based on his views and experiences. Yes, he spends a lot of time with the team, but how much weight you give his comments is up to you. If he comes out and says "Today, the Kings did x," I assume he's reading a report or giving official information. Other than that, it's all opinion, as far as I'm concerned.

NOTE: Since this thread has become pretty much parallel to the other Grant Napear thread I'm going to close it in favor of the longer one.
