Bowen plays dirty , Gets Carter ejected...

There is a saying in my language:

"You can teach as much as receiver learns"

My intention is not calling you names or to insult you striker, but there is "challenging" and there is being "biased", or "having problem to understand". I think you are in the second category. You don't seem logical to me, thus there is no point to discuss this w/ you anymore.

Again, I don't want you to get offended since this is not what I am trying to do.

"I think Bruce crosses the line if he's playing against me," Karl said. "If he plays for me he doesn't cross the line."
So basically, Karl thinks Bowen is dirty (crosses the line). But if Karl coaches him, Bowen's not.

I heard that he will replace Chris Tucker in the next Rush Hour movie. Him and Jackie Chen can take over Hollywood!!!

Sorry Gargamel. Have to go with a guy who's actually played and coached pro ball and doesn't have an agenda (unless the Nugget's are playing the Spurs which he's honest enough to admit).

My Don Nelson trumps your George Karl.

Spurs forward fires back at Nellie, Finley

Bruce Bowen has had a belly-full of it.

Bowen Mavericks coach Don Nelson's outbursts -- first in post-game interviews Friday, then in Sunday's Dallas Morning News -- accused the San Antonio Spurs forward of dirty play. It's the third time this season an opponent has made such remarks.

"It's really motivated me to the point where (if) you thought I was tenacious before, it's going to a whole new level. Because that's the only way I can get my piece out," Bowen said in a telephone interview Monday night.

Nelson told the Morning News he was disappointed Bowen wasn't suspended for what the coach believes was a dirty play.

"You can put me down now as one of the many who have called him dirty," Nelson told the newspaper. "I've never cast an aspersion toward Bruce Bowen -- but he's a dirty player. And I'll remember it. I'm shocked he wasn't suspended."

Both Bowen and Michael Finley were called for fouls after exchanging elbows in the Spurs' 113-100 win over Dallas. Finley and Nelson were ejected for arguing the call.

Earlier this season, Vince Carter and Ray Allen each said that Bowen was deliberately playing outside the rules.

Monday, Bowen fired back. He said that Finley initiated the contact that led to his forearm jab into Finley's chest.

"I got it on tape," Bowen said. "Everyone thinks I hauled off and hit him. But I wouldn't say that to you if I didn't have it on tape. ... In hindsight, was it right for me to retaliate? No. But when you throw the first punch, I'm gonna hit you back. It's just making me go to a whole different level."

Bowen said that he is concerned officials will assume the worst about him after the public criticism.

"It makes me want to say to the officials, 'If you heard what's going on, that's not the case and that's not what's happening,' " he said. "After Vince said what he did, I decided I'm just gonna keep doing what I do. Now I'm going to take it to another level of intensity, moving my feet, showing my hands, so the officials can see what (the offensive players) are doing to draw a foul. Just like I'm back in high school ... show your hands."

Finley told the News on Monday that Bowen was fined an unspecified amount by the league, and the fine represented a modicum of justice.

"Obviously, the league saw what happened before my retaliation," Finley told the paper. "I'll turn the other cheek, for now."

I also got a Tim Duncan up my sleeve.

Notebook: Allen says he'll protect self against Spurs' Bowen today
By Percy Allen
Seattle Times staff reporter

DALLAS — Ray Allen's congenial nature dissipates whenever anyone around him mentions San Antonio guard Bruce Bowen.

The two have had contentious encounters twice this season, and their last meeting left the Sonics' guard seething over Bowen's rough defensive tactics.

"I was at a point where I wanted to fight him," Allen said after Seattle's 96-90 defeat at KeyArena last month. "I wasn't thinking about playing basketball. I wanted to fight him."

Weeks after the game, Allen reiterated his displeasure to Bowen's teammate, Tim Duncan, at the All-Star Game. The Spurs' center asked if Bowen was a dirty player, and Allen replied: "Hell, yeah, he's dirty."

The two meet again tonight at SBC Center, and Allen doesn't believe in letting bygones be bygones.

"Yeah, it's all in the past, but if the same stuff starts happening, then now it's in the present," he said. "I know I'll try and protect myself."

Allen doesn't intend to back away from Bowen, especially knowing that Duncan won't be available because of a leg injury.

"It's tough when you have Tim sitting inside and Bruce is playing you aggressively," Allen said. "If you beat him, you got Tim there, so his defense is looking pretty good. Without Tim there, it changes. Everything changes."

Okay VF21 bash away unchallenged if that's your thing.

Oh wow, you just crossed the line there buddy. There's no reason to insult another member of the board, especially one who's been here for so long and is so well respected here.

I'm with 6th on this one.

Im with striker.

who is he anyway?

Sriker's video is irrefutable. Carter does stick his leg out. BUT THEN Bowen decides to shove his hips into Carter as he's coming down. It's not even momentum.

Dirty play, but nothing I haven't done on the soccer field. If I was Carter I would want one of my teammates to retaliate likewise later in the game.

Nice find on the Don Nelson and Ray Allen takes. But, of course, you know they're just haters, right???

I can't answer your question. All of a sudden, striker and Grego stopped responding to this thread after I posted those articles.
