If you can make it somehow where we can get kurt thomas and magloire i would be 100% in...dont know if salaries match though. Getting rid of KT is delicious...get er done petrie
So you'd rather have Magloire than Marion? That's weird.
I know its just for fun, but that doesn't help Phoenix's defense or rebounding. They trade away the two best defenders and the best rebounder.
It is too early to be drinking.Couldn't Bonzi sign with another team and be traded to the Kings in a sign and trade?
Sorry... just an early morning daze...It is too early to be drinking.
The Bucks and the Rockets are the only teams that might be interested in both of these players. Wait, scratch that. The Wizards would be too, and the Knicks would be, but then again, when are they not interested in a player? I really could see a deal with the Rockets, but they don't have anybody I want.
We will do a sign and trade with Bonzi only if
a) we are getting back in return something that is just too good to refuse (highly unlikely to happen)
b) we are getting a draft pick and a large trade exception for Bonzi (unlikely yo happen)
c) We get back salaries but it also allows us to dump some of our bad contracts in the process and still remain under the luxury tax (also unlikely)
Denver could be interested in Bonzi but they would be looking to dump Martin's contract somewhere so there is still an extremely slight chance that we could do a sign and trade for Bonzi.
Wouldn't the simplest way out of the situation be to sign Bonzi to a one year contract in the neighborhood of $7-8 million, the same as last year? We then have until Jan to trade him...keep him all year... or S&T next year when a whole new situation evolves for the entire league. He's merely postponing his FA and last contract one year (which will actually make it easier for him to get a 4 year deal than 5) and we have his services/tradeability for one more year.
We trade away Bonzi and KT for a first round pick? No thanks. I want KT gone, but him and Bonzi for a lousy 1 round pick is not what i had in mind. Charlotte somehow gets Carter with just a first round pick--I don't think so.
if we dont keep bonzi, i want to see a s&t Bonzi+KT for Grant Hill OR Jalen Rose. We get back a huge expiring contract and along with our current expiring contracts, we would free up alot cap space
Hill~17mil
Williamson~6.5mil
Potapenko~3.7mil
Hart~1.7mil
this would give us ~29mil in cap room
dsafOkay here's a little tweak to my aforementioned deal...maybe it's better, maybe it's worse. It's a three-way between Bos/Phx/Sac:
Phoenix trades:
Kurt Thomas
Phoenix receives:
Brian Scalabrine(you know he'll pull a diaw with Nash!) - maybe that's a stretch lol
Brian Grant(Boston still pays salary - expiring)
Tony Allen
Vitaly Potapanko(expiring)
Why for Phoenix...they get some salary cap relief in the 5 million dollars of expiring between Grant and Potapenko(to go with some rental size) and get a nice young prospect in Tony Allen. This effectively is a cheap way to fill out their roster with better talent than what would be found in summer leagues. Scalabrine would seem to be a nice fit in Phoenix. Mostly though it evens out there roster.
Boston trades:
Delonte West
Tony Allen
Brian Scalabrine
Dwayne Jones
Brian Grant
Boston receives:
Bonzi Wells via sign and trade (5 years 40 million dollars)
Jason Hart
Why for Boston, they only really give up West. The rest is just a bunch of marginal talent(along with moving Scalabrine's deal)and in return for that they get a legitimate starter who can compete with Pierce NOW who brings toughness and tenacity and hustle to the team along with the ability to rebound and score in bunches. Hart adds veteran PG depth who excelled on the east coast with Charlotte two seasons ago and has an expiring deal.
Sacramento trades:
Bonzi Wells (sign and trade - 5 years 40 million dollars)
Vitaly Potapenko
Jason Hart(expiring)
Sacramento Receives:
Kurt Thomas
Delonte West
Dwayne Jones
Why for Sacramento:
get a young back-up PG in west and a defensive post presence in Kurt Thomas.
Boston Roster after trade:
C: Kendrick Perkins, Theo Ratliff
PF: Al Jefferson, Ryan Gomes, Leon Powe
SF: Bonzi Wells, Wally Szczerbiak
SG: Paul Pierce, Gerald Green, Allan Ray
PG: Sebastian Telfair, Rajon Rondo, Jason Hart
Phoenix Roster after trade:
C: Amare Stoudemire, Vitaly Potapenko, Pat Burke
PF:Shawn Marion, Brian Scalabrine, Brian Grant
SF: Boris Diaw, James Jones, Eric Piatkowski
SG: Raja Bell, Leo Barbosa, Tony Allen
PG: Steve Nash, Marcus Banks
Sacramento Roster after trade:
C: Brad Miller, Kurt Thomas, Dwayne Jones
PF: Kenny Thomas, Shareef Abdur-Rahim, Louis Amundson
SF: Ron Artest, Francisco Garcia, Corliss Williamson
SG: Kevin Martin, Quincy Douby
PG: Mike Bibby, Delonte West, Ronnie Price

If Vince is going to opt out next year, I don't think the Nets give him a max contract, so it's an idea:
NETS:
Outgoing
Vince Carter
Incoming
Bonzi Wells (S&T 8 mill/year)
Kenny Thomas
BOBCATS:
Outgoing:
2007 1st round pick
Incoming:
Vince Carter
KINGS:
Outgoing:
Bonzi Wells
Kenny Thomas
Incoming
2007 1st round from CHA
You apparently have a rather inflated opinion of Lamar -- a player I generally like BTW (and thought several years ago might have made a decent Webb replacement as the high post PF).
Remember the Bonzi 40 min splits from yesterday? 16.8pts 9.7rebs 3.5ast 2.3stl etc.?
Lamar Odom last year:
40.3min 14.8pts (.481 .372 .690) 9.2rebs 5.5ast 0.9stl 0.8blk
And that's before we even get to which of those players is the type of competitor that you want on your side when the going gets tough in the playoffs.
Lamar's a good player, but he's right there in that same class of guys that we always have -- the Bibbys, Millers, Pejas, Reefs, Bonzis. Guys who might sneak into an All-Star game at some point, but otherwise are just talented major minute players.
So if a player sees garbage time and scores a bucket in the only minute he was in the game. Is he a 96 ppg scorer?
Because quite obviously comparing two 30+min starters by normalizing their minutes to get a truer picture necessarily inspires idiotic questions right?
