"In a way I wish this [coming 2008-09 season] would have been [Reggie Theus'] first year, and [Rick Adelman] would have left this summer because it could have showed how much [of] a winner I am. Guys like Adelman and Rick Carlisle [brought] that out of me. Isiah [Thomas] was going to bring that out of me if he didn't get fired [by the Knicks]. A coach like Phil Jackson can bring that out me."

*YAWN* typical Artest rant... anyone got a link? Also, I hope we get more than Shelden Williams and some expiring contracts for Artest...

Wow, now that's very disrespectful. How does he expect to get anything from Reggie after saying stuff like that? I guess he really wants to be traded now. I hope the Kings get something good in return for him though. A Lamar Odom wouldn't be so bad, then we can get rid of KT, SAR, and Mikki, and focus on developing Hawes and Thompson along side Miller and Odom.

now that Bill have this statement - Ron is probably going to say something totally different

This was the paragraph that followed that one.

Reggie more than qualifies," Artest continued. "[But] as much as I have to prove I can win like a Rasheed [Wallace] or [Kevin] Garnett in the first year [with their] respective [new] teams, I can make an argument [that] firing Rick Adelman was not the best thing to do. It put me in a position where I had to start over. The good thing is, I should be in my prime at 32 years old, so I have time and, with faith in God, I can move ahead with progress to reach success."

It would appear, he questions the Maloff's decision to fire Adelman.
I'm sure they loved that.

The original poster took Artest's comments completely out of context. He DID NOT slam Reggie Theus, and in fact these are the same comments he made yesterday. I'm no Artest apologist. I never wanted him here in the first place and I've wanted him gone ever since, but that's no reason to get the story wrong.

Thread closed for a couple of reasons:

1. The article in question is already being discussed in detail.

2. As pointed out above, the partial quote was taken out of context.

I don't think we need to start a new thread for every Artest comment. He's really not THAT interesting.
