This looks like a huge leap in Ben's career. I have no clue why so many people were quick to give up on him after 2 games. He's been amazing on both ends o the floor.

I have to admit that I was losing hope that Ben would get it together this year. Summer League was not super positive as was the preseason.
But...
Wow Ben's defense has improved by leaps and bounds... he has found a way to be worthy of being on the floor even when his shot is off... AND his defense could still continue to improve over the next few years.
ON OFFENSE.... he's really been coming around. That Dallas game was his coming out party (i hope). A serious problem with our offense was that it seemed that the other players didn't trust to pass to him. Almost like that would be a wasted possession. But when his shot was falling our offense was the most balanced and unstoppable its been almost all year... and it would have probably stayed that way if not for Cousins being in foul trouble and coming out. Ben was also moving well off the ball and with his teammates TRUST they were finding him for slashing layups.
IM ACTULLY SO IMPRESSED IM GONNA GO OUT ON A LIMB HERE AND SAY THAT IN 2-3 YEARS BEN COULD BE THREATENING TO BE OUR 3RD ALL-STAR. 2-3 YEARS. If Peja could make the all-star team by just draining catch and shoot 3's as well as layups off slashing .... a Ben Mc with more all around skills.... if he puts it together would be far superior (including defense).

Yes I realize that Ben is sooooo far from being an all-star currently LOL! BUT .... he was picked by all the top basketball analysts to be the "most likely to be an all-star in the future" when he was drafted. So I'm not totally crazy alone on this. Like Wiggins he has a personality thats not MJ or killer instinct like. But everyday he spends in the league it looks like he buys in more and more that he belongs and that confidence keeps growing. If Ben's defense keeps improving like it did from last year to this, and that shot keeps falling at even an avg %. He will be an absolute nightmare for teams looking to double Boogie or Gay.

I'm watching the career trajectory for Jimmy Butler. Butler is a good defender and he's gone from scoring 3ppg to 6 to 13 to this year. Bulls are showing patience with his offense and took advantage of what he did bring. Same with Ariza and Afflalo. The scoring stats for these players are no better than Ben's for the first few years of their career.
I'm watching Ben and seeing the same potential and growth as the other players that our fan base has been screaming for. As long as Ben keeps working like he's doing, we're going to be very happy with him. I don't know if he'll be an all-star, but the tools are there. A lot will depend on his ball handling and how much control he can get on that. With his speed and athleticism, the threat of him driving and scoring will keep him open for jump shots continously and put pressure on the D. But his teammates also have to put the ball in his hands to let the opposing team know we're not afraid to use him.
Hopefully by the end of the year, Ben has grown enough to be our 3rd offensive threat and Collison is willing to give up that role. I'm fairly confident that Ben can average 14 a game with his current skill level should we ask him to.
On KF, we are finally coming around to seeing that maybe the kid does belong. He's still going to have up and down stretches, but it's part of the growth process.

I see the same things with Ben. And DC will gladly take a backseat if/when it all clicks for Ben. That's why DC is such a good fit.

You can see he has the insane athleticism and flashes of defensive brilliance, we have already seen him take strides in defensive positioning and awareness this season, both team and individual. His shooting is pure and finishing ability is improving. I expect him to finish the season averaging around 13 to 15 points a game, he needs to found in transition more.
