BEE:Carlesimo not in Kings' plans

The Kings have officially crossed P.J. Carlesimo off their list of coaching candidates to replace Rick Adelman. According to a source close to the San Antonio assistant, Carlesimo will not be interviewed. A source within the Spurs organization confirmed that the Kings have not requested permission to speak with Carlesimo. Both sources asked not to be named for fear of reprisal.
Kings co-owner Joe Maloof told ESPN last week that the Kings would likely talk to Carlesimo, who succeeded Adelman as head coach at Portland and Golden State earlier in his career. But the resolution of Carlesimo's status may bring the Kings one step closer to officially hiring frontrunner John Whisenant, the Monarchs general manager and coach.

Whisenant - who interviewed for the position with the Maloofs and Kings president of basketball operations Geoff Petrie in Las Vegas on Sunday - declined to comment on any Kings related matters at Monarchs practice on Tuesday. Memphis assistant Eric Musselman and Golden State assistant Mario Elie have also been interviewed.

I've closed this because it's pretty much a non-item. And we have so many threads going about the coaching stuff already.

Carlesimo wasn't interviewed; Spurs weren't contacted about the Kings speaking to him...

Sure looks like nothing more than filler to me.

NOTE: Thanks for posting, curitibagarrett. In the future, however, please make sure you include a link back to the site of origin; in this case, that would be the Sacramento Bee.

Thanks...
