B-Jax likely to Hornets...

As do I, but not at the prices they are doing it for. they are forking over buckets of cash on good, but not great, players.
Other than SAR, tell me a last big name FA that hasn't been overpaid?

Fact is that EVERY FA is overpaid. 98% of the NBA players ARE overpaid.

Have the Spurs overpaid for many free agents? What about all the FAs the Heat picked up this year. The Pistons may let Wallace walk if the price goes up too high but are hoping to steal Bonzi at the MLE.

Notice a trend?

Was Rasho overpaid by the Spurs???? How about Walker with the Heat????

What you are talking about is players like Finley and Payton and Zo who practically took less than what they are worth so they have a chance of getting the ring.

Spurs have always kept their good players and traded or picked up good solid role players to complement their core.

Notice the trend?

The Hornets are building a very good regular season team, but I wonder about them come playoff time.

-Bjax has been injury prone.

-Peja has a reputation for disappearing in the playoffs, though he should be the second or third option.

-If they get him, Chandler disappeared for the Bulls during last seasons playoffs. On the otherhand, he previously had been a beast, so which Chandler will N.O. get?

Yeah, you just contradicted yourself :p

But yes, that is precisely what I was talking about in reference to your first quote. There are plenty of examples of players that take less than market value to play with the top teams. The Spurs, Heat and Pistons have overpaid for a few players but they've balanced that by smart signings as well. And it appears that when they realize a player isn't worth it they move on as may happen with Wallace and the Spurs moving Rasho. Walker is 1 for 1 with the Heat, I don't think highly of him but there were a few stretches early in their run that he was a key contributor.

I think that Hornets would be very happy to just get into PO - thus they might not be too concerned about what happenes when they get there

Actually Chandler played pretty well in the playoffs, he just didn't put up good stats. So people think he had a bad and disappointing series. He played good defense, brought energy and intangibles through out the whole series. Most of that doesn't show up on the stat sheet.

Getting Chandler for the Hornets, would be nice for them, but I don't think it'd be great like most think.

Hornets will be fun to watch ut I am not sure that Pedja and Bobby willget this team over the hump espcially if either or both are injusred as they both seem to a little prone.

I am glad we didn't spend half of our MLE on him to be honest. I think he is a good player, but I don't know if the time would have been there for him. I think he can play the SG a little in NO, here I think we need to give all the minutes to Martin/Cisco and hopefully Bonzi.

Hornets are making some good moves. They'll be a tough group to beat, but are miles away from being a contender, as are the Kings.

The Hornets are way overpaying players but I guess they have to in order to get guys to come play for them. 3 years and 17 million for B-Jax

If NO gets Chandler they will be in desparate need of a big who has a low post game and can command a double team in order to free up Peja. Chandler at times doesn't even warrant a "single team" his offense is so abysmal.

I havn't heard any numners yet, are those correct? Anyways I'm glad Bobby is getting his money somewhere. He deserved a nice contract from the Kings after how he played for us in Sacramento, unfourtunitly the NBA is a business and the Kings have more pressing needs. Good for Bobby, hopes he plays well, and its going to be awesome when the Hornets come to ARCO.

Exactly. That's what I've been saying along with other things since this rumor was brought up as going to happen... it hasn't yet, but I suspect it will.

This is from an Arizona paper so take it for what it's worth:

BIG JACK FOR BOBBY
Sources say the Hornets paid $17 million for three years for the artist formerly known as Bobby Jackson — which hurts the Suns in a couple of areas.

The market for Speedy Claxton, Lindsey Hunter, Jannero Pargo and even Eddie House just shot upward. And if Jackson is worth $5.7 million a year to back up Chris Paul until he gets hurt, what will Leandro Barbosa’s camp ask for this summer?

They are signing some horrid horrid deals man. I originally heard 2-3 million a year but that is quite more than that!

In my book Bobby Jackson has earned every single penny of this contract. Just consider what we are paying Bibby and Miller.

Well thats the odd thing about pro sports salleries. Guys are not paid for what they DO, but rather for what they DID, and even then time and palce are everthing. If you are looking for parity don't look for it in the pay checks of athleets.
