As I Ponder the Kings...

Bench
ive really kind of developed the following unbiased assessments....

they have a pg thats really a shooting guard...

they have a sg thats really a pf, but 6 inches too short...

they have a sf thats really a shooting guard...

they have a pf that has finesse and no power and thus is the ultimate tweener...

they have a center that is a point guard...

they have a coach that is wondering how did it all come to this; and when will someone put him out of his misery...

and a renowned gm that has some how put together this disarray of talent...one wonders how much responsibility the maloofs have in this...

and the fans...my heart goes out to some of the best fans in basketball...kings fans and pacer fans have alot in common....and neither really deserve what the kings fans are being subjected to...

hang in there...

Please, I can hear you snickering through the wires. Stop rubbing it in. :)

lol...trust me im not snickering...

we too have a gm that is widely respected as one of the best in the league...

not unlike webber last year, we have a maligned star player that is likely to be traded....

we both are small market teams, who have had a great deal of success in recent memory...

both teams have some of the best fans in basketball....

im just really hoping next year for us isnt like this year for the kings....

i read all the posts on here and just feel and understand the pain...

i truly feel for you guys, and at the same time hope i dont have to go thru the same any time in the future....i was a pacers fan in the 80's, so i know what its like...

we know

This has always been the case. For all intents and purposes, Doug Christie was effectively our point guard alongside Bibby.

they have a sg thats really a pf, but 6 inches too short...

This, too, could be argued the same in the case of Bobby Jackson.

they have a sf thats really a shooting guard...

Nothing new here either, although it'd be nice if he could rebound a little more.

they have a pf that has finesse and no power and thus is the ultimate tweener...

This is bigger than most think, although SAR has been productive and shows well in terms of +/- statistics. It wouldn't be that big of a deal, except for...

they have a center that is a point guard...

Nothing new here either, considering Vlade was the center of our offense for so long. But somehow Miller can't even manage to defend half as well as Vlade did. If we had Ben Wallace or Tyson Chandler at PF, we'd be fine. But we dont. So we aren't.

they have a coach that is wondering how did it all come to this; and when will someone put him out of his misery...

You may be right. If he isn't fired, I think he's as good as gone this summer. Which is too bad really, most of this isn't his fault. Unless he was behind the Webber trade (doubtful, more likely the Maloofs or just Petrie's biggest error yet).

and a renowned gm that has some how put together this disarray of talent...one wonders how much responsibility the maloofs have in this...

Me too. I wish I could have been fly on the wall in their offices late Feburary, especially a fly that could whisper in their ears and tell them "DON'T DO IT!."

All in all, good post. It's always nice to get an outside analysis from time to time. I'm pulling for the Pacers too ;)

A nice sentiment. Kings and Pacers definitely have a lot of similarilities and similar problems, and I've thought RA in Indy and Carlisle in Sac could really help out those respective teams. Maybe we could just merge and solve all our problems- Ind/Sac a la NO/OKC

u know....i think carlisle is a fantastic coach....and i dont think u will ever see a better coaching job than u did last season...

that being said...i tend to agree that if carlisle started the season with the kings and ra with the pacers, they both might actually be a lot better off right now...
