Artest trade stuff HERE!! (merged)

Add to that the number of years he played on the national team and you have a player with a lot of miles, bumps, bruises, etc. on him.

I don't always remember that. He's played this game a long, long time. He honestly could be starting to run out of steam...
Actually, you opened my eyes to it last week when you made a comment that his nicks are becoming more frequent and absences are longer. He hasn't had a big injury since 2002, but he has missed a lot of time with small injuries.

Then in Houston game Drexler made a comment about Pedja slowing down due tho his advancing age and Drexler remembering how he himself "lost it" with age. I laughed, thinking to myself that Drexler has confused Pejda with Vlade or something, then I realised that no matter what his age, he looks creaky out there.

If anybody wahts to know what we're talking about just pop in a tape of Kings games 2,3 or 4 years ago. Different guy altogether.

If the Pacers are trying to go young they are certainly doing a crap job of it:

Tinsley -- 27
Jackson -- 27
O'Neal -- 27
Foster -- 28

Peja is actually still 28 himself. (born June 1977). Would seem to fit exactly in.
Well we weren't trying to go young at the start of the season! We kinda had different hopes plans and asipirations than we do now...... :(

Well crap, it sounds like there may be some teeth to this Ron Peja thing.

I'll trust Bird and Walsh here, because it sounds like yet again this deal is in the hands of the Kings. I don't see what is so great about Peja that our FO is so anxious to acquire him, but hopefully I get my eyes opened..... if this happens, that is.

ARTEST-FOR-PEJA GETTIN' CLOSE

January 24, 2006 -- I have it on excellent authority the Pacers and Kings are exceedingly close to swapping Ron Artest (three more years after this on his contract with a right to opt out after two) for Peja Stojakovic, who has the freedom to opt out after this season or play out the next.
Then again, let me put it another way: The two teams are as close as my Paper Clips were to acquiring Artest for Corey Maggette before an Indiana doctor decided the swingman's left ankle was too great a risk.
According to three sources, it's strictly Sacramento's call; the Pacers are agreeable and ready to deal, and are waiting for the Kings to make up their mind.

Would have thought Pacers fans of all people would "get" Peja -- his game has the most Reggie in it of any guy in the NBA today. Just Reggie without the clutch of course (and IMHO Reggie really was not that special without the clutch, but that's another issue).

personally im believing/hoping this is walshs way of getting the other teams to step up and make their best offer...most know walsh and vescey have a pipeline from time to time....

i just cant believe the pacers would trade ron for peja....especially straight up....

i think its manipulation thru the media...

Well, maybe, although everything that we loved in Reggie is lacking in Peja. Mental toughness, clutch ability, the uncanny ability to bring your team to overachieve.

But anyhow, I finally finished all my crap, and I'm going to hit the hay. Hopefully this thing gets resolved. I don't like Peja, but if it means ending this things, I will gladly take him.

this trade make sense for both teams.....from indy's perspective peja is the best they can get for artest at this moment...who else?....personally I don't like this deal and artest but things would change for me on this forum...no more peja, no more peja homers/bashers.....I'll be in opposition and take any chance to jump on artest fan club that is in rapid expansion on this forum....of course no bashing only "constructive criticizing"

For once, perhaps another teams injury will be our gain. If it wasn't for Maggette's foot, we would probably not still be discussing this.
