Michael Schulman, Ducks CEO and chairman of Anaheim Arena Management, said Sunday that Samueli remains interested in bringing an NBA franchise to Honda Center.

"We have always wanted, and continue to work on getting an NBA basketball team at the arena," said Schulman, who reports directly to Samueli on all business matters. "And we will continue to work at that. If the Kings end up deciding to leave Sacramento, we would welcome them to Anaheim. Or any other team."

Isn't there a big territorial rights issue here? I'm under the vague impression that both the Clippers and the Lakers would have veto power or near-veto power over a franchise moving to Anaheim.

Edit: Yeah Captain, read the article. Expected rights territorial rights fees of $30-50M to both the Clippers and the Lakers, plus a majority vote of the owners - if a majority of owners would got for three teams in the same market.

Yeah I'm sure there is a long list of cities willing to take the Kings. And the way the city of Sacramento is going, they seem to be willing to give them up.

I'd hardly say that Anaheim being willing to take the Kings if they move is the same as being Anaheim bound. There's plenty of cities that would take The Kings if they can get them. This isn't news.

Yup. If there were to be moves of these teams, it would make more sense for the Clippers to go to Anaheim and the Kings to San Diego (or Clips back to SD and Kings to Anaheim).

*ugh* that makes me gag to think not only of the Kings leaving NorCal but of being turned into the Clippers 2.0- a sideshow to the main-event Lakers in LA. Talk about pouring salt in the hypothetical wound.

Even though it'd be awfully easy for me to go to the games in Anaheim, if the Kings leave Sacramento I'm fairly certain I won't watch NBA basketball ever again.
