Didn't know they predated live fish. I've seen them chewing on dead ones though, but mostly they ate algae off the glass. Tetras didn't last very long in my tank even though I never skipped feedings. I suspected the tin foil barb (which are pretty big) was eating the smaller fish because I mainly fed them bloodworms & live brine and they started to prefer live prey over flakes. But maybe it was the damn plecy all along!

my son has a white molly, all the other mollies we got died. i know next to little or nothing about taking care of fish, I had CATS. any suggestions on how to get new ones to last?

-cleaning the water weekly? about 20% changes
-add new dechlorinized water (use water conditioner that gets rid of chlorine, amonia, copper, other metals, etc)
-do not over feed, feed only a few pelets or flakes twice a day (like once in the morning and once in the evening)
-make sure the water temp is around 75 degrees (80 with a heater is pretty good, but I keep mine in room temperature about 72+ and they do fine since they are tough fish)
-Try not to overcrowd 1fish:1gallon
-float new fishes in their bags for 10 minutes, then in 2, 5 minute intervals marinate them by adding a little of the aquarium water to the bag.
-white little dots on the fish are from ick, buy some ick medication (don't add if you have shrimp in the tank, buy the 1 drop per gallon stuff since it works pretty well, and you should add some in while you float their bag to quarantine them)

All it takes is a fish to go asleep near the bottom and then bam that big platy will get em. They are evil Im telling you

does anyone here have salt water tanks?

We have lots of plants and creatures, along with an assortment of fish.

Some interesting tidbits might be: There is a pair of mated clown fish in their anenome, which took them several months to "find".
We had another anenome split into two in one night. Our banner fish likes to be cleaned at the local shrimp cleaning station.

Today we just got a holloween eurchant, with the guy at the store getting stung by it and needing 6 bags to hold it in (because it poked through the first one).
Does anyone have experience with these? I'd like to hear it.

We had an accident last week where we now have a one eyed puffer fish.

The previous aquisition was a fish that looks like a little eel. To me, it looks like a green dragon or serpant.

Feeding time is fun.
