Can I see a pic of your betta? Its not the same fish you showed off earlier was it?

You've seen mine (it's in the art studio family pic thread), its fins have finally grown back after its bad case of fin rot (5 months, a big chunk out of his life) that almost got to his body. It lives in a 3 gallon bio wheel (amonia removing tank) tank with a female sunset wag platy (who he chases around every now and then). He eats up all the food so I have to sneak food into the tank just to feed the platy. I'm going to add a yellow male mickey mouse platy soon (so the platys can have babies, they give live birth to about 5 at a time).

I also have a female betta in a seperate jar (because bettas will kill each other no matter how big of a tank) and she ate her roomate again (a ghost shrimp).

My girlfriend has like 4 bettas each in their own jar. She was the one who got me into them.

Goldfish are hard to take care of, more difficult than people think.

Poor little thing!!! I think I'm going to cry =(

We had a big ole tank with 20 goldfish when I was a kid (my brother and I). Then one freezing winter night we, being irresponsible kids, put it underneath an open window because we were too lazy to clean it out and it was dirty and we didn't want it stinking up the room. Well, not surprisingly the next morning there the little buggers were frozen almost solid. They actually swam around for a bit after we thawed them out, but then it was belly up time. :)

Also owned a pair of hermit crabs once. Until one of them dismembered the other one -- then I only owned one.

Oh, and don't forget about the Sea Monkeys. :)

Yep same old lovable fishie. I love the colors on a Betta fish... they're so colorful...!

80 gallon reef tank for 7 years, till I got married and moved. However, my 180 gallon tank is now being built as I type, and I'm way back into it. I'll shoot ya a PM.

My red betta.. i just call him ''Fishie.'' The female with teal fins is also mine. The third is my girlfriend's favorite betta out of her 4. It's a butterfly style betta but its not the real thing (a full breed) since those cost like $40. These are all just regular mutts you can get a Petsmart or Petco for $3. I'll put a pic of my mini tank sometime later.

The first betta my girlfriend bought for me ended up dying pretty quick (2 weeks) because she bought a sick one. The second one I bought jump out of his bowl (lived only about a month) and it was too late before anyone noticed :(. The third one (the one above) i spent dozens of hours studying fish so now (I'll put it in BLNinja talk) I kNO mY sKit!! :)

Hmm...I thought the guys were the one with long fins. I'll go check my book.
They are all veil tail pet store culls (muts/mixed breed).

Where did you get your betta, Freak?

My platy just gave birth to 7 fish, one was eaten. I returned the 'dad' a few weeks ago because I thought he wasn't getting the job done (plus he terrorized my other fish and he would've just eaten the babies) but I was wrong. Now I can sleep.

Never had a salt tank, but have had two fresh tanks when I was a teen. I worked at an aquarium store so that helped.

I had a 55 gall and a 10 gall. I've dabbled with all kinds of critters. My faves were angelfish (preferred larger solid silver and black ones over the zebras) and gouramis of various types. Also liked having a few apple snails and/or fiddler crabs in the tank to rummage around on the bottom.

In the 10 gallon tank, I had a batch of black sailfin mollies. Extremely hearty fish, much moreso than goldfish. The tank was all purple and black. Looked like a lava lamp in the dark.

Here's some of the fish I would replace in my 55 after they died:

Dwarf gourami:

Opaline gourami:

Red-tail Sharks:

When a case of ich killed off all of my smaller fish, I got an oscar with a nice mainly-orange pattern. That thing was a monster. I had to redesign the tank because it would rip up all the decor. Stopped with the tank when I went to college in 1994, gave the oscar to the pet store which I used to work for.

What the hell kind of Laker fan hangs out on a Kings board and has a black and purple fish tank??

Gargamel!

I had the black and purple tank while the Kings were still red and blue. That absolves me.

Psst. G3? Over here...

We all let Gargamel pretend he's still a Laker fan.

It somehow just seems kinder than forcing him to admit the truth, but don't tell him I told you, okay?

4 left 2 eaten by other fish, rescued the other and put them in their own tank. 2 were missing and I found them in the filter still alive, luckily.

Mollies easy to take care of Garg? I heard they were like Platies except they get sick easier, but the person who told me that raised Platies.

Lol. Trust me, my aversion to Bibby runs as strong as your aversion to Bean.

Maybe I've just had good experiences with mollies (I cleaned that tank a lot, that may have helped). They just wouldn't die. They couldn't be bargained with...they couldn't be reasoned with...they didn't feel pity or remorse...

Gargamel -

Hey, you weren't supposed to read that. It was addressed to G3, and it was clearly in on-the-board whisper mode.

Shame on you!

Lucky for you, Smurfette still finds you irresistible!

The whisper function is enabled in my preferences.

Unfortunately my job is turning Smurfs into lumps of gold. I hope Smurfette can get over that. I can use her to draw all the others into my lair. I'm on strong tooth pain medication right now, so you have to believe me that I really am seeing and hearing Smurfs. ;)
