Amundson And Williams Stats

Amundson didn't do as well, he ended up on the same team (Colorado 14ers) as Pooh Jeter, but Pooh at least matched him tonight (21 pts, 4 assists and a steal in 30 minutes). Louis got 8 points, 11 rebounds, an assist, a steal and 2 blocks in 35 minutes.

Justin got 15 rebounds (8 o, 7 d), 12 points and a block in 30 minutes.

Justin's team is affiliated with the Wizards and the Bulls.

Just what teams like Chicago need -- young, athletic guys. I'm sure glad that we don't need anything like that.

I wanted to keep Justin Williams instead of 'giving' a roster spot to Mo Taylor who probably wont mean anything to us at all this season.

Cant the Kings still sign Williams even though his d-league team is affiliated with the Wizards and Bulls?

Not that Petrie would EVER do such a thing...Unless Justin mysteriously developes a shooting touch and mid range game.

ang gets a bit shorter

Right, in theory we could get Justin back. All it would require is:

1) Muss eating crow, before another team makes a move.
2) Petrie also eating crow before it's too late.
3) Justin having no hard feelings about having been cut.

When all three of these happen, don't wake me up, I'll want to enjoy it right until the alarm goes off.

Tonight Williams had 17 rebs, 3 blocks, and 15 pts on 6/9 shooting.

Thanks for passing this up Petrie.

Dude, Petrie got us Mo Taylor as a backup C.

I'd rather have a project with potential on this team then a 4th string foward that got waived by the Knicks and would be playing out of position if it wasnt for the fact that he never plays.

Ah well... Justin wouldnt be getting any time either. But look at the Lakers: they take on projects (Kwame, Bynum)...And they actually have a decent frontcourt. Probably a really good front court in a couple seasons when Bynum develops more.

Kwame was a former #1 pick, and Bynum was a #10 pick -- that's a little different than an undrafted free agent. I agree that it's nice to have some young prospects, but Williams belongs in the D-League. Maybe next year he'll have another opportunity to prove himself for another team, but he wasn't going to get time for the Kings this year. Hopefully the Kings can get a good big man prospect in the next draft.

Kwame was a bust #1 pick. And if I remember correctly the Bynum pick was heavily criticised.

Yeah, a big man prospect would be nice....But with Petrie you never know. I bet if we got the #1 pick he'd pass over Oden to get his hands on the next great swingman!

Yeah. Drafting swingmen has turned out really, really badly for the Kings.

these guys are lottery picks, not guys that dont even get drafted

Williams tonight: 18 pts on 6/8 shooting and 6/8 free throws, 15 rebounds, 5 blocks.

He's #1 in the D-league for double doubles, and rebounds (13.8 a game, 6.8 offensive), and 4th in blocks (tied with Amundson).

So what if its XYZ league....This kid could have contributed a hell of a lot more then Mo Taylor at a fraction of the price.

And dont forget...Ben Wallace was once one of these undrafted guys too.

Unless under contract those players are not property of any team.

Exactly. And Muss or Petrie did say they'll keep both in mind for the future after letting them go.

Honestly, I wouldn't be that disappointed if a team in the east gets Williams. It's if possibly a good or better western conference team snatches him up, and he possibly develops into a solid defensive big man in 2-3 years. With the potential being obvious in 2006-2007.

I don't know why we didn't keep either of them - especially Williams. We still had and do have a roster spot open.

While Williams wouldn't of played much with us this season, at least he would be with us to develop in the D-League, get some NBA-time, and have him for the long-term.
