VJ, can you offer a non biased power ranking please. I want to compute it at the end of the week. Thanks.
That was unbiased... I swear :)

1. Chris - He is the most popular even though not my top choice but he has ITl to win it all
2. Katharine - best female
3. Taylor - my favorite, but to be realistic he can't win it all (which doesn't mean he is not the best, the most entertaining)
4. Paris - annoys me but she is good for her age
5. Elliott - He's ok too, but not too pleasant to look at
6. Pickler - I hat how's she's playing the dumb card, but if she wears that outfit she woreTuesday more often , she can stay around
7. Bucky - he is out there just to have fun and I think he even realizes he should have been gone by now
8. Ace - get your thumbs out of your belt loopholes you Constantine wannabe

Here are the songs for tonight:

Ace Young, We Will Rock You
Bucky Covington, Fat Bottomed Girls
Chris Daughtry, Innuendo
Elliott Yamin, Somebody to Love
Katharine McPhee, Who Wants to Live Forever
Kellie Pickler, Bohemian Rhapsody - Countried verison
Paris Bennett, The Show Must Go On
Taylor Hicks, Crazy Little Thing Called Love

So is Kellie going to change "Mama, just killed a man" to "My daddy, just killed a man"

Sorry I couldn't resist. SHe's getting on my nervers with overplaying "my daddy is in jail I am so dumb card".

Hrmpf.

The idea of Ace doing "We Will Rock You" gives me stomach pains. Bucky just might save himself if he pulls off "Fat Bottomed Girls." Kellie and "Bohemian Rhapsody" COUNTRIFIED? Holy crap.

Taylor doing "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" is just too safe and predictable.

I'm almost glad I'm going to be doing the PBP. Some of those renditions might be very, very painful.

Actually, the word is that both Elliott and Taylor wanted to do "Somebody to love", but Taylor thought that the song would compliment Elliott and his voice better so he back down.

I like Taylor (duh :) ), but I really don't think it even matters if what he does is safe or predictable. IMO he already proved as much as he wanted and he could be voted off next week and still come out a winner.

I really didn't think Taylor did all that great. I think the only one that did good was Chris. Kellie and Katharine did ok. I think Ace will be the next to go.

What a disaster .....

My bottom 3 are:

Bucky - it's just time to go
Ace - next after Bucky
Chris - I am bored with this guy

My top 3 are:

Katharine - Liked it
Kellie - surprised, it was good - I liked it
Paris - liked it

Will survive:

Taylor - okay
Elliott - didn't particularly like the song - but, he'll move on

That was funny!!!!:D

My view about last night is I would give every performer a pass and start all over next week. I did not know what to make of the music. For the most part it all sounded the same regardless if it was fast or slow. Each performer had a good moment and some bad moments. This is not a knock on Queen, the music is what it is for them and their fans. But for these Idol performers, it was not for them.

At the same time, I thought Cowell was extremely harsh last night. I did not think that they were as bad as he made them out to be. I don't think he like any of them.

Taylor - Performance of the night. Very entertaining, vocals were good. Energy is back!! Crazy Little Thing Called Love fit him to a tee.

Ace - I thought he was OK. Better than in past weeks. Better than Simon gave him credit. Did enough to hang around at least another week.

Pickler - She was OK. I give her credit for stretching out. She did a credible job. For the first time I did not see her as Ellie Mae Clampett(until she opened her mouth :D ). She looked the part.

Paris - There is no question that Paris Bennett can sing. She proved that last night. Her vocals were not flawless but she pulled it off. Is by far the best under 18 performer this competition has ever had. But she did not fit into the Queen genre and at times the performance seemed awkward. I believe Simon called it weird.

Kathrine - I thought she was some what dry. And I have liked her from the start. But America loves her for whatever reason.

Elliott - Decent. Not spetacular. He picked the right song.

Chris - Did anyone notice that he was wearing eye liner, mascara and had his eye brows plucked!!! What in the world was that. He wanted to reincarnate the spirit of Freddie Mercury. As far as his performance, typical Chris the Rocker. I too am getting very bored.

Bucky - OK, but not good enough.

Bottom Three - Ace, Bucky, Elliott

Elimination Prediction - Tough Call but I believe that........uhhhhhh, it willllll beeeee ACE!!! It should be Bucky, but I think Ace will pay for Simon's tongue lashing.

Wow looks like we all differ a lot on this one. I am not a queen fan as stated above so I will just go on my impressions. The show was better then I thought but I am not sure what to think.

1. Katharine
2. Kellie
3/4 Chris tie with Taylor
5. Paris
6. Bucky
7. Elliot
8. Ace

Any of the bottom 3 can go.

My take on this-and maybe I'm wrong, but does anyone else think that it is very unfair to assign young contestants to sing artists whom they're most likely not familar with?? Most of these contestants are way too young to even know how Queen is! They did not grow up hearing them. Isn't that kind of setting them up for failure?

First let me say that Freddie Mercury ought to be rolling over in his grace over some of these performances, but on to last nights rankings:

1&2: Elliot and Katherine-however you want it,
3. Kellie-Call me crazy, but I thought she did well.
4. Taylor--I don't know why I liked it, but I did.
5. Chris--Dude needs to brach out, he's starting to become repettive.
6. Paris--No, just no.
7. Ace. ::sigh::...but he's so dreamy! ;)
8. Bucky--I couldn't understand a word.

I haven't gone through the entire thread, but has anyone else checked this out?

I ended up not hating the Queen covers as much as I was expecting to. Only one contestant totally and completely missed the mark and butchered a good song. Elliot ended up singing the song I REALLY wanted to hear him sing. I actually thought last night was pretty pretty decent.

Taylor – Perfect song choice. I wanted to like him, and I guess I sorta did. But NOOOOOOO on the mic kicking? What the heck was that about (even if he didn’t swing and miss BADLY the first go round)? Just dance around the stage and do your thing, no forced theatrics.

Ace – His performance was the first one (and probably the only one to be truthful) who I thought completely butchered his song. I also thought it wasn’t a good choice for him, he had no where to go with that song in the short period of time he had to perform it. He’s somebody who should have felt a nagging urge to change songs like other folks did. I thought it was straight-up karaoke because he added nothing to it. I agreed wholeheartedly with the criticisms Randy and Simon had of his performance. And dude, if Queen members tell you they aren’t going to screw up their song for you, that should be a clue of some sort.

Pickler – I agree that she was ok. I thought the get-up and look was forced but it sorta worked. I also gave her a free pass to survive the week simply because she stretched, which is more than I could say for Ace. I am soooooooooooooooooooooooooooo done with her simple girl act. Somehow, I see her, the chorus of “Stupid Girls” starts rolling in my head.

Paris – I would have liked her more if she did not come out on stage looking like she had to wait for Kellie Pickler to peel out of the leather jumpsuit and stiletto boots. I know kids these days are dressing like that on stage, but I wasn’t fond of that for her, and I equally wasn’t fond of seeing the same/similar look I saw earlier in the show. Good thing Katherine with with a slower song or else I’m pretty sure someone would have dressed her up like that too, since hey that’s what “rocker chicks” look like.

Kathrine - I thought her performance was pretty weak. I definitely thought more often than not (and its bad because she only had a short time to perform) the song was too big for her voice. Celine Dion? Barbara Steisand? After that performance last night??? That’s a bit of a stretch, but I agree when Katharine is on her game she’s got a big voice that can fill a room, but that song last night didn’t do it well.

Elliott – Definitely agree he picked the right song. I’m very partial to him AND that song so I’m glad my wish was granted. I would have loved to have seen him sing the fuller song because there is such beautiful complexity to it. I thought he nailed it, and did the most justice to Mercury in doing so.

Chris – I don’t think I noticed the exact nature of what was causing the new look, but it was a weird look for me. He definitely nailed it and probably was the first time he’s done a cover and actually covered it instead the other stuff he does. I liked the performance and again was brought back to the feelings I had earlier in the competition about the power of his voice.

Bucky – I actually think Bucky did a pretty good job and did enough to stay another week. Definitely had me thinking southern rock vibe and I think he pulled it off and managed to actually enunciate better.

Bottom Three - Ace, Bucky, Eliott? That seems pretty fair I couldn’t understand why Elliott was in the bottom 3 last week, so its not inconceivable that he ends up there again this week. I think Paris might wind up in the bottom 3 simply because she had the dubious distinction of following Pickler wearing the same exact look and I think Pickler did a better job at pulling her look off.

Elimination Prediction – I thought Ace was gone last week and somehow he skated through. But forgetting one’s lyrics (especially when they are repeated) seems to be the kiss of death. The fact that he did nothing with the song he had, he must go.

I don't see a problem. It's not like they couldn't find some Queen selections to listen to... I'm pretty sure it wouldn't be the first time they sang a song originally recorded by an artist no longer around.

Oh good lord. I so do not want to see them butcher Rod Stewart...but I'm thinking they might actually get Rod to show up.

:D

Seems ironic that Bucky finally puts up what I thought was a decent performance and he's gone...

Here are my power ratings for the remaining hopefuls:

1. Chris
2. Taylor
3. Katherine
4. Kellie
5. Paris
6. Elliott
7. Ace
