American Idol 2009! Rank your favorites!

Im throwing my phone if it isn't Danny.

That would be 100% ridiculous if Tatiana goes over him...

I'm really concerned, partially because of what Paula had to say. If Tatiana goes through, then the Vote For the Worst folks have done it again - and the REAL fans of American Idol are the losers.

Whew!
I thought Paula's quote sealed it!

I'm so glad I don't have to hear Tatiana anymore. I really wished Anoop would have been in the top 3 instead of Michael. I thought he was terrible. But at least America got 2 out of 3 correct.

We still have the rebound round.

I assume we'll see Anoop and Tatiana at least one more time.

She made a comment about how sometimes the show has surprises because people don't vote for their favorites...

The voting results will be revealed tonight. He was entertaining and actually showed some more of his voice - which isn't at all bad. I suspect, however, that he will not get past tonight...

I voted for the first time ever last night, but only because I'm a subversive jerk.

Last night was a Clint Eastwood night. “The Good, the Bad and the Ugly” For the most part the talent was OK to not bad. I will say that group One was much better than group Two.

THE UGLY
Jenine Vailes – She looked good, no doubt with the “short” shorts on, but she was far less than what I expected.

THE BAD
Jasmine Murray – Very disappointing. For some reason, my “R and B” expectations were very high, and all I got was a bunch of Hannah Montana.

Megan Joy Corkery – She had a little of the neo-Soul Adele type voice, but the look was hideous, with the stringy blonde hair, and the tattoo on the arm. And the quirk, gyrations and movement did not help her stage presence

THE GOOD
Nick Mitchell – I don’t care what anybody says, this guy has stolen the show for AI 2009. I think the judges have a lot of nerve criticizing him, BECAUSE THEY PUT HIM UP THERE!!! They knew what they were getting into with “Norman Gentle”. Before he got up there, I was ready to change the station, but he was entertaining as hell, and I hope somehow, he goes through.

Allison Iraheta – She is the best female in the competition so far. She is 16 with a voice of a grown woman. She was very good, and should sail through this round and possibly through to the end, if she remains consistent.

Adam Lambert - OUTSTANDING!!! The best performance to date. If he learns how to harness his over the top, theatre skills, this guy will win American Idol 2009. He has one of the best voice range in the history of this show, with the likes of Fantasia, Jennifer Hudson, Clay Aiken.

TONIGHT'S PREDICTION - Adam Lambert, Allison Iraheta, Mishovanna Henson or Nick Mitchell

How funny, I thought Megan was the 2nd or 3rd best lady, though that isn't saying much. And the ladies this week were far better than last, but as a whole pretty much everyone they've shown so far doesn't hold a candle to top 12 talent in other seasons. Haley Scarnato could win this whole contest.

I do agree with your top 3 though, again with the caveat that this is the worst talent pool ever.

I haven't watched all of last night's episode yet, but I do know that what's plaguing these contestants is not their voices. It's the fact that they are picking the absolute worst songs they could possibly pick. And after seeing really good contestants get downed last week by poor song choices, what do this week's contestants do? Pick worse songs! Unbelievable.

I could make the top 12 with the right song choice this year.

I despise Adam Lambert.
I think he is so over the top, and I really don't like the high pitched voice.

Norman Gentle is fantastic, and I want him to keep going for pure entertainment sake!

Pretty much agree. Bad song choices.

I actually think Alexis and Danny from last week are very good. I would expect Allison and Adam to win tonight. They are both very, very talented, IMHO. I was just so disappointed about everyone else last night. I expected more from some. Maybe third will be Megan or Mishavonna?

I think Nickl/Norman is a riot. He's actually a decent singer, but when they said this might not be the stage for him, I think they were right. What he is, is an entertainer. There have been other entertainers to combine music and comedy (Borge comes to mind).

Considering the production value and editing they are putting into his performances vs. everyone save Danny I think its pretty safe to say you're going to be seeing a LOT more of him. Someone on another board said they are setting up the ultimate God vs. Gay showdown, after seeing these screen caps its hard to disagree.

Seriously though, for those who think this show isn't manipulated to the nth degree, do you recall any other contestants getting such fancy effects during their performances? Most of them have generic screensaver type backdrops, or maybe a jumbotron style view of the performance. It goes on with the vocal mixing and background singers too, and it greatly influences people's perception of the actual singing.

You're just a cynic, pdx...

:p

I was glad to see the results and agreed with them again. Allison, Kris and Adam are all Top 12 worthy IMHO...

And I strongly suspect we haven't seen the last of Norman/Nick, since there are still wild card spots to be given out. Anyone who doesn't see a Nick/Tatiana singoff down the road just hasn't been paying attention.

:0

I am glad I'm not the only one that doesn't care for him.

Awesome!
Glad someone finally agrees with me!

And
Its even worse after the Weds. night...
I really do NOT see how the judges didn't eat him alive after his garbage...

I mean....
How do you take a classic Stones song, then twist it into an awful shrieky techno-remix and go forward?

I think he is awful...But I know we are going to see him for a good long time.
Which sucks...

I really think this guy is terrible.
:/

So which is which?
I thought the pictures were worth a thousand words. Danny is the church music director who the judges have referred to as "the redeemer" on several occasions. Adam is out although it isn't discussed on the show. I railed on the show last year for playing to the worst American stereotypes with one of the contestants last year, I do think they are to be commended for not going there with Adam who they are obviously treating as a serious threat to win. Sadly, I think they cast Nathaniel just for laughs.

I don't really see how Adam's act will translate to the kind of albums 19E produces, but he's actually quite good doing what he does kind of Freddy Mercury meets David Bowie at a glass shattering octave. Here he is in something called The Zodiac Show which makes it clear he's dialed it down a few notches on AI (RockStar fans may want to poke around the Zodiac Show's site as it also features Ty Taylor).

Unless a contestant emerges that I really want to see win, I'm fine with this ultimate showdown playing itself out. Of everyone through already I liked Allison's performance the best, but I imagine that like most younger contestants she's really good at doing one thing and will be exposed when having to perform music she doesn't already like.

My mandatory cynical observation for the night: Almost every female profiled this season has been 16 or a single mom, can we finally expect a 16 year old single mom next season?

I'll do you one better...Can Octomom sing?

I do too. He has a great voice, but he's so over the top that he comes off fake. He's needs to tone it down. I agree with Randy though, he would be great in a band like the White Stripes, but not solo.

I enjoyed last night's performances wheter it is weird or sensational. My theme this season has been that if the judges are going to take credit for the good acts, they need to take responsibility for the bad ones, and they have not done that. I am a firm believer that Simon, Randy, Kara and Paula are responsible for the demise of AI; some of these people in the Top 36 have no business being on that stage. My three to move forward:

LIL ROUNDS - THE STAR OF THE NIGHT. The girl with the funny name, but the huge talent. It is about darn time that there is somebody on the big stage to represent authentic, urban R and B. She's got "IT". Charisma, beauty, story, song selection, stage presence, and most importantly talent. There has not been a contestant like her since "Princess P" Paris Bennett. Whether she can win or not, depends on if she can be versatle enough to appeal to the masses. That remains to be seen.

JORGE NUNEZ - He has a little bit of Marc Anthony going on. Jorge is probably the first authentic Latin singer on the show, and he sings very, very well. Same as Lil Rounds, he will do well if he can diversify himself and appeal to the mainstream audience. I hope they will stop commenting on his accent, because he can not do anything about that. That is him, and to me it makes him different.

SCOTT MACINTYRE - Same as the first two. Talent and charisma, but has to get beyond being "The Blind Dude". When you look at Stevie Wonder, you don't think about him being blind. Scott has talent, and I think his story alone will carry him into the Top 12. But I hope he has more than what he showed last night because the potential is there straight up.

I was kidding. I knew who you were referring to. Altho I was partly implying that you can't know that Danny is not gay, even though he was married. That's sterotyping. ;)
You could've thrown me a smiley, I suspected you were playing with me :)

I will refrain commenting on last night's show except to say I hated it.
