Odd, I would have thought that the only reason for them to take our Bibby offer is if they WERE looking for a star player. Unless they are just going to use him as an ender if he opts out? Or unless they are actually after one of our kids or picks?

Beyond nostalgic feelings...i'm glad they're in too deep to back out at this point. Bibby is at the point of no return. Offended beyond repair (sorta like Adelman with Phil Jacks). Mike's disdain would show on the court instead of on the sideline so he's gone. He is our only near-star (IMO) attractive piece beyond ron-ron (tick-tick). Anything is better than the listless set of hopes we are left with currently.
They were closing to getting unwatchable, and there will at least be reason to tune in and check Brick's grades for awhile. AI and Ron would be at the very least compelling, but I'm glad something is in the works.
Can't wait.

Am I reading this right? You don't think 24-25 shots a game (which is what Iverson is averaging and is about a third of his team's total shots) is a lot?

Then, when running our Bibby/Iverson two-headed point guard to start, we may actually get to see Team Dime storm the floor and take the ball away from Allen so that Mike can shoot a couple of times. Given the inexplicable popularity of professional wrestling, this should help put butts in seats.

Bucher really sounded like Iverson will be traded to the Kings, he said that a deal may go down either wed or thur.

Shame on you Brick, you know there's no way the Sixers would do that deal without getting back a young stalwart like Kenny Thomas. Clearly we would need to include him and get back some extra salary, like Iggy to make this deal more practical.

We have to trade Bibby at this point. Whether that is for AI or not, it has to be done. Secondly, I would take Iggy over Martin in the AI deal for all the reasons explained so far. I like Martin, but when I think of how hot he was and how his production has dipped as of late, I keep thinking of Flip Murray a few years back in Seattle. Martin is clearly in another class than Flip, but everyone was on his jock at the start of the season because everything he threw up went in the net. If Mike were to go to Philly and be with Webb again I'm not so sure that the Sixers would be better than they are now, although they can't get much worse. Mike and Webb WERE a great 2 man team when Webb was healthy and when you had the likes of Peja, Vlade and Doug doing all of the other stuff. Also, the Sixers defense was bad to begin with when AI was at the point...how bad will it be with Mike there?

Certainly the Kings seem to be one of the teams serious in trying to get an AI deal done, and is considered the frontrunner by some. That said, in my opinion, what some people don't seem to take seriously here though is that there are other teams out there that are also seriously trying to get AI, and their fans also seem to have this unrealistic expectation that they are going to be the team that ends up trading for AI. It's really the Garnett effect at work here--every team's fans think they are going to get KG, except it's not as unreasonable because chances are very very good right now that some team others than the Sixers will actually get AI, so more people buy into it. Would I be surprised if a deal gets made? Of course not, not with all this speculation. But as far as we know (unless someone has an inside source and refuses to tell us :-0), it's far, far away from a done deal right now. Not temporally far, bur probabilistically far from certainty.

However, I also do not think that that's necessarily being fair to those who say that Martin "doesn't take many shots", because the implication that people are usually trying to make when they say something to that effect is that Martin "doesn't take many bad shots". One way to look at it is that when people complain that "so-and-so is taking way too many shots", they are implying that "so-and-so is taking too many bad shots." So given this more sympathetic, and I think more fair, reading of what people are actually trying to say, then I think it still makes general sense to say he doesn't take many shots. After all, for someone like Kevin Martin, when he gets to the line, he's taking a very, very good shot.

I don't think that would be a leading offer. Everything I've heard indicates Philly wants to rebuild, not try to make it work with different players. So in that aspect, given that Bibby has said he'll opt out, they're going for cap relief.
It really seems like the Kings have the best offer.

Garcia - yes. He's our third small forward at this point. He may turn into a very good player, but there's not a whole lot of hope of him supplanting Salmons ahead of him in the roster. Might as well trade him so he can get the time he needs.
Martin - no. I still think he'd be an ideal sidekick for Iverson, and it doesn't seem like the Kings need to give him up. It compounds the risk of the deal. Throw Martin in you're seriously risking the future. Without Martin it's a two year experiment.

that would be logical from the Sixers, and logical from us.
Sixers have been talking Livingston, Ellis, Gordon, Felton, Foye...so Kevin fits right in as a young guard with significant upside. Probably first team to blink on that demand gets A.I. I just don't think we can do that unless the deal gets bigger and we get some other pieces back.

I agree. Replace Kenny with Dalembert in the starting lineup and you have a guy who's just as good a rebounder, 10 times the shotblocker and would not be expected to put up a single shot.
