Acy/Outlaw traded to Knicks

Ellington will also be waived, from what i'm reading. We can pay him his salary over 3 years, provided he's waived before August 31.

So neither player will be playing a minute for us, ever.
Whew... That gives me some hope where we can keep Ben and Nik together for 2+ years to let them work it out with minutes and shots. But if PDA makes a big blockbuster I'm hoping we can be happy with the outcome.

What makes you so sure? Unless you know PDA, you are going off the same info we are. Speculation from a few reporters and now it is gospel we are waiving him? Until PDA says he is waiving Ellington, none of us know his plan.

Once again, I'll just remind everyone that computation of the luxury tax charged for going over the salary cap is done at the end of the season.

So true , but without some slack under the limit, It could be an issue with a proposed trade , lets say at the feb deadline when there is no chance for additional salary relief after a Feb trade

We lose one of our best team guys and downgrade our back up SF and add another SG which we don't need since we are developing two already....another great move by PDA right up there with his Landry signing.

There are tons of variables that could drastically affect our salary situation. I am firmly convinced PDA knows exactly what he's doing in this regard.

Seriously? You were that enamored of Outlaw and Acy? With the signing of Eric Moreland, just how much court time do you think Quincy was going to see? You seem to be able to find the dark lining to any cloud, silver or otherwise.

We should be trying to move other pieces not Outlaw and Acy, End of the day it might be good for me both ways since I reckon Acy can get some nice burn just by energy alone with that garbage Knicks frontcourt. More games to watch on NBA LP I guess.

Really? I can understand not caring much about it since we traded guys we probably wouldn't be playing for guys we probably won't be playing. But that reaction?

I really liked Acy a lot, and am sorry to lose one of the Beard Brothers. Oh well, I'll pick different issues to go mental over, but this one doesn't make me warm and fuzzy inside. Hope Acy has a great career.

I never said I was sure, I said that's what i'm reading. It's a plan that makes sense. There's nothing in that trade that we'd really want anyway, save the 2nd round pick .

Yikes.. Not even close to Landry..

The deal is for players that wouldn't play on either team. No big deal. Definitely not the big deal you're making out of it.

I think we are. These are interim moves.

Theoretically Acy's contract is still unguaranteed right?
I read somewhere that part of the deal was the Knicks guaranteed Acy's contract. Cannot for the life of me remember where, however.

EDIT: Found it.

As part of the deal, I'm told, the Knicks have told Quincy Acy they will guarantee his deal for next season ($915k) - http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nba/2014/08/06/knicks-kings-trade-quincy-acy-wayne-ellington/13675973/…

I like Acy. But we still got his daddy in town, that's Mr. Reggie Evans. ;););)

For the ever pessimistic crew, take a look at the bright side, our GM has clearly cleaned-up the Maloof army in just over a year in his tenure.
I bet PDA could even make a trade for the Kings' legend also known as Kenny Thomas if he get on early. :p:p:p

On a serious note, Ellington is a shooter but undersized SG.
We need shooters around DMC. But part of is thinking that the FO will pit him against TWill and take the victor into the roster.

Tyler is like the Kandi Man except that he was not a number 1 pick.
He was a big man stand out in high school, oozing with potential. But I kept wondering why teams keep shipping him around.
If we can somehow ship JT pretty soon, I think FO could give him a chance to try out as backup C. Moreland is more of a PF body right now.

Don't Cousins and Tyler hate each other? Was it not Cousins doing the choke sign to him when they played against GSW and last year before Cousins left the game with injury Tyler was getting awfully physical and both were talking at each other.

Tyler as a back up C is not bad tbh he's pretty massive/mobile, Ellington can shoot but jesus he is as soft as they come, the guy would literally die breaking a nail.

Wow really.

Fair enough. Bit of a wash move in some ways but if you keep WE you get a knockdown shooter for some spot minutes or more if Ben or nik struggle.

I like Acy too but I think his actual on court impact was overrated. Infectious personality though.

Outlaw. Meh. Good guy but an absolute chucker when he's not on he can shoot you out of a game very quickly.

A bit of a meh trade!

At least it balances out the roster a little bit for us. Get rid off the glut at PF by trading Acy and Outlaw who spent a bit of time there but is more of a SF and bring in a deep bencher SG who is a good 3PT shooter.

Tyler is just a knucklehead that will get waived anyway! Not the sharpest tool in the shed!

To me, one thing is certain. The Maloof's ineptness shouldn't be an excuse going forward. All of the players with the exception of Thompson were retained (Cousin's new contract) or acquired under the new ownership. One heck of a turnover.

Yes and no. While all the players are gone the contract situation still lingers in other contracts. It's not like a complete fresh start.

And at what point do you take ownership? All of the players other than Thompson they signed to their current contracts or traded for.

When it was said they were going to clean house, they did. It's not a bad thing.

Absolutely nuts. What's even more crazy? The FO has only committed long-term money to 3 guys+rookies. Turning over the whole roster without ruining our original flexibility of having space Year 3 when they signed on is pretty nifty.
If turning over the roster is the goal, they are succeeding wildly. If winning games is the goal, we'll have to wait and see on that one.

So we a get an insurance policy at the 2-guard, but who is the backup 3? D-Will? Heaven forbid. Stauskas? Don't want to go there. Hmmm.
