If Max is for real and we stay in the top 6ish of the draft, this could be a quick rebuild.

Vivek is going to force a quick rebuild either way, but you know, we may actually have a few good young players to go along with whatever washed vets he gets fixated on in the next few seasons.

I don’t l know what to make of Max’s stats but if he starts taking 4 or 5 threes a game and hits them at college percentages he could really be something

Yeah, there's some real work for him to advance as a winning impact player, but I think we can only describe his rookie year as wildly successful. I'll take the rookie capable of dropping 2 30+ point games and 7 other 20+ point games on top of it (2 19 point games as well). Tools are there, the mindset is there.

and i notice that max is often engaged in "bench conversations" with sabonis. when he comes out of the game he often lookls to sit next to domas and pick his brain. i can't tell what they are saying to each other but both are quite animated when discussing the game.

this why i think sabonis is so important to this team - he is the PERFECT "mentor" - a guy who grew up around the game and likes to share his knowledge.

not to mention having some credibility as someone with "foreign" roots learning the intricacies of an american game. the "other" teaching "the other".

i honestly believe the kings should consider some kind of a "lifetime alliance" with sabonis, kind of like caron butler (who we "paid" forEVER) with Miami.

he could be a lot more than a "player", maybe something like buster posey with the giants.

and, of course, he and doug are tight.

What's interesting is he doesn't even really need to get into his offensive bag much. He's not out there putting guys in a blender and getting to the line or making them look bad with post up moves. He just gets himself into the right spot in the paint and then executes with simple flips and hooks.

His entire future is solely going to rely on whether he can get his defense passable or not. If it doesn't improve considerably, he's just going to be an empty stat guy.

I was almost going to say that it's difficult to win with a non defensive center unless you're the Lakers and have a pair of HOFers on the roster but we also have a pair of HOFers as well lol

Barring Max turning into an all nba player paired with whoever we draft being an mvp player this rebuild won’t be quick. We might have the bleakest young talent in the league right now outside of Brooklyn

The amount of empty seats last night was shocking. Happy hour at the Sierra Nevada draught house was pretty live but after that everything else was meh. Left at halftime for some good sushi.
