Mister Slim Says: Kings have the opportunity to get their first regular season series sweep of 2024-25, and secure a fifth-straight win by defeating the Miami Heat at the Eagle. The Kings' net rating has improved to +2.1 (9th in the league), which suggests that their win/loss record should be closer to 20-16. Under Interim Head Coach Doug Christie, the Kings appear to finally be playing close to that level, but they need to close out Miami to remain confident heading into a tough road trip. The absence of Jimmy Butler doesn't figure to mean much for this game, since the Heat pride themselves on being the roughest, toughest, coarsest something or other, so they're going to play hard with or without their mercurial leader. I think that a reinvigorated fan base will be enough to push a focused Kings team to a win.

I'm interested in seeing how well we play without Fox again! We looked dominant yesterday but a one game sample size isn't worth crap (no matter how entertaining!).

For the record I'm not one of those "We're better without him" guys either, when he's engaged he's a premier talent. I'm one of those "Klutch is in his ear and he was already pulling diva ****, so let's ship him out while his value is high, and Monk has way better chemistry with Domas anyways" guys!

Go Kings!

This is a another good test for the Monk/Domas combo. The Warriors did change up their pick and roll coverage in the 2nd half last night, they started to blitz Monk to get the ball out of his hands and for the most part it worked. The problem for them was the defense started to lock it down on the other end. If the Kings can consistently force teams to take shots late in the clock like that, then this teams offense won't always have to carry the load.

When did people start referring to G1C as “the eagle”? Assume it has something to do with golden eagles or…?

More reps without Fox is a good test for the team. We’re loaded with talent and good teams can win without their best players. Also means lots of burn for Carter. Plus with where the Heat are at we should absolutely torch them, so his absence is at least a nice excuse if we lay an egg

For my personal edification, if you'd be so kind... what are we classifying as "diva ****"?
All the Klutchian media drops pre Brown firing strongly hinting that he's looking for greener pastures, his annual months long sullen-fests where his play and attitude tank sans explanation.

Not something I personally want to see a Super-Mega-Ultra-Historic Max attached to.

He's also consistently improved year over year, took Keegan under his wing, gave his kid a Kings themed name, and hates the Lakers... So I guess he's more enigma than diva. I just really hate the Klutchfoolery.

I'm pretty sure I'm the only one who does that. And no, it has nothing to do with the golden eagles, whoever they are.
Aside from certainly being a college mascot somewhere, golden eagles are one of the two common types of eagles found in the U.S. I figured that was what you were going for as well, as eagles don't seem to have anything to do with "1" or "Center".

Will you explain why you refer to G1C as "the Eagle" or prefer to remain Slim-cryptic?

Looking at Saturday night's boxscore, the Heat did not have a single player score 20 or more. They did have six bench players score, but it was a blowout--the Jazz outscored Miami 40-19 in the second quarter--so more guys made it on the court than usual. They do have the ever-dangerous Tyler Herro and Duncan Robinson, though, so beware.

Cool anecdote from Mark about being neighbors with Doug when he was on the Knicks early in his career. Looked it up and Doug had zero starts there, had to just keep working to make it

Also looking at BBR I didn’t remember Doug was top 5 in DPOY voting twice in Sac. Keon’s still got a way to go before he proves he can do it better lol
