2013 unrestricted freeagents:

we need a shot blocker to partner with Cousins

Robin Lopez, Okafor, Sammy and I would prefer Lopez as he is young and not on the decline like the others.

Though Pekovic isn't a shot blocker, I would LOVE to have him next to Cousins. Beefiest front court EVAAH

I wouldn't mind Robin Lopez. Maybe as one of those guys that starts but only plays about 20mins a game at most. A player out there with the starting unit to set a defensive tone, and then go to the bench after.

How perfect would Noah had been with Cousins? They would either be the best big tandem or they would kill each other.

They would fit together like Peanut Butter and Jelly! Noah is a hustling, defensive big who is a little bit of an idiot off the court but has excellent BBall IQ and plays passionately, while Couisins is the Back-to-the-Basket, post up center who means well and is actually really smart but has serious attitude problemos. It'd almost be sitcom-worthy, how well those two'd get along.

Noah is just anout the prototype of a player you would want next to Cousins.

I agree that there are a lot of ways you can approach fixing whats broke. One way is to bring in an experienced and proven PG to provide leadership on the floor. Calderon is someone that can do that. I also agree that moving Tyreke back to PG, and drafting McLemore, a very talented player that can kill the other team offensively, but can also be a dominating defensive player is another approach. I can see the benefits of both ways, but honestly can't tell you which way is the best way. I suspect that short term, the Calderon approach is the best, but long term the McLemore, or plug in Oladipo, approach might be the best.

But, if you leave Tyreke at SG, then defensively having IT as the starting PG makes you very vunerable. Not for lack of effort on his part, but because a smart team with a Derron Williams or any smart 6'2" or over PG is going to post him up and break down the defense when the help comes. And I'm talking about the playoffs now. Run and gun never works in the playoffs when teams become serious about winning.

That didn't happen with Nate Robinson. Deron Williams walked off the court as the loser.

That's where you're wrong actually. If you watched the games you will see that this very matchup led to a lot of problems for the Bulls, and a lot of the time they had Jimmy Butler guarding Williams instead. The thing is that the Nets didn't have good outside shooters (Johnson was hurt and Wallace is ... Wallace) and couldn't capitalize on having wide open 3 pointers when the Bulls were forced to rotate. The other thing is that the Bulls as a whole play very good team defense. But if you had actually watched the games you'll see that on the whole Deron Williams torched Nate Robinson whenever he was being guarded by him.

Btw how are the Bulls doing against the Heat at the moment? You like to speak as if Nate Robinson is the only reason for their success, when truth be told there's so much else going on that leads to the outcome of the game. That isn't to take anyway from Robinson's performance - it's just that you have consistently made it sound as if having small quick guy = win championship.

Splitter is hardly a playoff veteran. And I'm pretty sure he'll opt to stay with the Spurs. I also think that he will not be as valuable without Tim Duncan on the floor. Simply put, Splitter has shown that he excels in the Spurs system. You take him out of it and you don't have a good idea of what kind of player you're getting.

Bull-hockey. Splitter is a talented player on both ends and is the kind of player who would excell in any system. I'll be happy to post metrics of him, but it would just be ignored . You WANT guys who've been under great coaching so they rub off on our guys who've been coached by Freshman high-school level coaching. Just look at the difference Patterson, Douglas, and Aldrich made on our team. in such a limited time. None are considered well-known names or high-class defenders, but all 3 guys brought a nice level of defensive IQ and intensity that we really haven't seen since the glory days.

Oh don't get me wrong, I don't think Splitter is a scrub or anything. He is a good talented player, but I'm not sure that with JT/Cuz/Ppat our top priority should be signing Tiago Splitter.

Just continue to rationalize. But, but, but, but....Who gives a **** if Williams torched Robinson when he happened to be in his area. He didn't torch him enough to make a difference, did he? Did you see Robinson torch Williams, or did you take a bathroom break during those particular episodes?

The Heat double team Robinson and you think it's a knock on Robinson? Give me a freaking break. I suppose they double team guys who are not effective. Why don't you talk to the Miami coaching staff and tell them how stupid they are to double-team such an ineffective player as Robinson.

Oddly, a member of the proposed ownership group trying to keep the Kings in Sacramento has done some background checking on Ellis as a possibility for the Kings if the team decides to part ways with restricted free agent Tyreke Evans this summer, a league source involved in the discussions said. Ellis is weighing his options and hasn't decided yet whether he will opt out of his $11 million deal.

Oh god no!

gross. i'm glad there's a qualifier in there, though: "Sacramento has done some background checking on Ellis as a possibility for the Kings if the team decides to part ways with restricted free agent Tyreke Evans this summer." all the more reason to hope tyreke re-signs this offseason...

also, i'm hoping this is just a sign of the prospective ownership group being a thorough bunch, exhausting every possibility prior to taking control of the team so they can hit the ground running once all the papers are signed. but, given vivek ranadive's connection to the golden state warriors, i'm wondering if he's the one who prompted this "background checking"...

that *has* to be a smokescreen, *has* to. Vivek was part of the ownership group that deemed Ellis expendable, wants a more analytics based approach to team building (where Ellis fails rather spectacularly), and everybody and their mother knows that Ellis would be insanely duplicative of half the Kings roster. if this were to happen, there'd be riots in the streets (well, mine at least, and with me as the only participant, as onlookers wonder what the hell I'm yelling about).

I've made a full list of players we would benefit by going after:

Beno Udrih
Jarret Jack
Jose Calderon
Eric Maynor
Mario Chalmers
Chauncey Billiups
Andre Iguodala
Leandro Barbosa
Matt Barnes
Corey Brewer
Elton Brand
Carl Landry
Paul Millsap
Chris Andersen
Earl Clark
Samuel Dalembert
Tiago Splitter
Emeka Okafor
Trevor Ariza
Al-Farouq Aminu
Tony Allen

I want Sammy back. I want to see more Sammy-Cuz twin tower domination. I also want Beno! :D Then we have to address SF as usual. I say just go for a shooter (Kyle Korvers, Dunleavys).

.

Both have an incredible passion for the game. Utilized correctly, they would dominate the league.

This. It's simple due diligence to examine every possible player. You don't assess when you're brainstorming. You gather all the data and then start eliminating those players who do not fit your needs.

I like Dunleavy more than Korver. He strikes me as the more complete player.

Dunleavy career stats: 28 MPG, 12 PPG, 4.5 RPG, 2.4 APG, .445/.372/.800

Korver career stats: 24 MPG, 9 PPG, 2 RPG, 1.6 APG, .432/.419/.875

Except of course that the franchise center would choke him to death the first day of camp. :p

Here an article about the Dunleavy-Cousins incident. http://www.cowbellkingdom.com/2013/...ejection-confrontation-with-mike-dunleavy-jr/

Honestly this is one of the reasons I would like Dunleavy. He said the following to Cousins:

<Cousins> Was that on purpose? (asking about the box out)
<Dunleavy> What if it was? What you gon’ do about it?

Then the ESPN game recap says Dunleavy dropped 14 pts on the Kings after Cousins was ejected.

Then in the playoffs Dunleavy shot 57% against the Heat.

He seems like a guy who isn't a weenie.

Tough is one thing, but stupid enough to mess with DMC is another. Deal void due to Stupidity.

Greg Oden could be a nice addition to the team and potentially even at a decent price the rei could be off the charts.

Just read where he has been working out hard and is in great shape, it's a risk but as the old time Kings fans know the only way we can get a top talent is with some risk. If they guy is hungry for redemption, checks out OK, and can be had cheap; he may well be worth a roll of the dice. Not the guy you hang your future on but could give us a huge shot in the arm.

I'd go after Bynum. Yes he had problems, but he also has talent. Talent that we wouldn't get otherwise.

We have a couple decent assets to trade.. Like Evans and MT. With a couple free agent signings we could definitely get right back into the thick of things.

Lopez could play next to Cousins, or we could look into a trade that would bring over Nene? It wouldn't give us the shot blocking but Nene's D has been impressive next to Okafor. I just doubt they would trade him to us.

PGs... Is Teague a URFA? What about Collison?
