Well at least when played on North American soil it is. I won't be surprised if neither of us medal in Sochi.

Barely sqeaking out a win in your sport on your home turf is not ownage by any means.

Oh come on, Canada deserves their moment in the sun here. And though the US cleaned up in overall medals, Canada set a new record for Golds. They hosted an awesome Olympics and really stepped up (there were something like 250k volunteers stationed around the city working 8+ hour shifts in the rain to direct visitors) to make a world class experience.
I'm really proud of what the US did too, especially in Nordic skiing, an area we have never done well in, with a silver in a CC race and a Gold-Silver finish in Nordic combined, and our first bobsled gold in over 50 years. I never understood why we struggled so much at bobsled, hopefully this will start a trend.
Now we just gotta figure this curling thing out. Maybe we can wear the best pants in 2014.

thank you lol, canada dosent get much recognition for anything usually.. except for having igloos and beavers. so its nice too see my fellow country succeed and bring home so much pride.
usa had some great performances aswell. i dunno if anyone can take down kevin martin in curling lol. hes too mentally strong.

Yeah, it seemed like he was so far ahead of everyone else out there. Canada's women were great too, what a tough loss to take in the extra end with the hammer.

Apologies if I come across a thread****ting, since I haven't watched any part of the Winter Olympics that I could avoid (which, sadly, hasn't been as much as I would have liked, since they have been on at work), but am I to understand that pdxKingsFan took his family to Vancouver for the Olympics? How much did that set you back, codger?

I was so into the USA vs. Canada hockey game today that I completely forgot the Kings game. Lets just say the sport of Hockey just got a couple new fans over here.
A+ for Canada, you did a hell of a job hosting these games.
A+ for all the athletes. Way to push the human body to levels I can't even imagine.
F- for NBC. Honestly, you couldn't have worse job. People better get fired of this "Prime time" BS.

It was a great hockey game and both teams should be proud. Congrats to Canada on a record-setting number of gold medals and congrats to the US on a record-setting number of total medals. North America rules! As an American-Canadian I was proud of both countries. Whether is was the Canadian flag or American flag rising to the top, I got to sing along with both anthems. 
Also, congratulations on a being a great host. I've been to places in Canada (born in Ottawa), but not yet to Vancouver. I really hope to go there sometime soon.

It was a bit different than I was expecting but it's a great city. I'm definitely planning a return trip to do more city seeing.

Conde Nast's annual survey of international travlers has quite consistently had Vancouver at number one or close to the top, as the most desirrable city in the world to visit.
I have been to Victoria, which I loved. Been to Banff National Park which is spectacular. Been to Ontario, of course. Also have visited a close friend in Cape Breton, which is a wonderful place to visit, too.

One of my old jobs had clients in Banff but I never got to go. The other Canadian places I've been are Toronto, a casino ~90 mins away from Toronto, Windsor (Detroit border town where the difference is night and day) and Sault Ste. Marie. I think I liked Vancouver the best though I didn't really get a fair tour of Toronto.
It was a much bigger city than I was expecting and it sure seems like I missed out on a lot since we were focused on the games. We did spend a day at the Aquarium in Stanley Park, and I think that whole park deserves at least another day. When we left there we got into this public area with lots of crazy sculptures that I'd really like to check out.
I was obsessed with getting this stupid jacket that I never got so that sucked up a lot of my free time.
