2009 Mock Draft - COMPLETE!

30. Cleveland Cavaliers - Jespher

You’re watching ESPN. The worldwide leader in sports, here’s Stuart Scott (again…)

(Scott) “Welcome back to our continuing coverage of the 2009 NBA Draft sponsored by Flomax. The Cleveland Cavaliers are on the clock. The real question is can they get LeBron James some help with this pick?”

(Everyone in unison)
“No…”

(Scott) “Well what should they try to do here? They could use an upgrade at several positions after they were exposed by the Orlando Magic in the Eastern Conference Finals.”

(Johnson) “This team won 66 games last season, riding the coat tails of LeBron James, and an excellent defense. I look for them to add some length and athleticism to bolster their depth, but truth be told, this pick will probably have a hard time breaking Cleveland’s rotation.”

(Legler) “With Ben Wallace’s earlier comments hinting on his retirement, they will have a large void in the middle. There have been ongoing talks that they would try to make a play for Shaquille O’Neal to fill that void, and talks are ongoing, but nothing is official there yet. I think you have to go best player available here to get LeBron some help (laughing).”

(Scott) “Who do you like that’s still on the board?”

(Johnson) “I was really impressed with Patrick Mills in the Olympics. He abused the elite point guards of team USA, and was also impressive for Saint Mary’s before his injury last season. I like Sam Young out of Pittsburgh to bring some beef to the Cavs. I think young would fit what Mike Brown is trying to do defensively. Remember, that the Cavs did make it to game 6 of the Eastern Conference Finals, so they may just need that one last piece or free agent to get them over the top.”

(Scott) “Once again here’s David Stearn…“

(Stearn) “With the 30th pick in the 2009 NBA draft, the Cleveland Cavaliers select Sam Young, University of Pittsburgh”

(Scott) “Reaction guys?”

(Legler) “I like this pick for them as it adds another stud defender. Young can contribute right away, and can play the 3 or the 4 spot for LeBron or Varajao off the bench. He will add depth at the forward spot for the Cavs, and allow them to rest LeBron a bit during the regular season. They need to address their guard rotation as well, and get someone who can knock down a three point shot.”

(Johnson) “Coming from a half court oriented team to the Cavs will benefit Young immensely. He has some terrific length and athleticism, and can really finish down low and defend. I like this pick by the Cavs, now they need to find someone to play power forward or center for them full time…”

(Scott) “Let’s bring in Dick Vitale to get his reaction to this pick”

(Vitale)
“It’s gravy baby! Young’s a stud who should have gone in the lottery this year and he dropped all the way to the 30th spot. Get outta here! Cleveland will win it all next year, what a steal! I’m beside myself with glee at the thought of LeBron James, Mo Williams, Sam Young, Zydrunas Ilgakus(sic), and Varajao pounding their competition with their defensive will and passion for the game. Long live the King baby! I love this pick as Young’s finishing ability at the rim will complement LeBron, and maybe give him a rest or two in the regular season. I’m wearing Pittsburgh socks for a reason guys, do you like my socks? Coach Dixon really instilled a defensive passion in this kid, and he will blossom into a stud at the next level. I’m sick of summer, let’s just skip July, August, and September, and go straight into October baby! What’s with this Mills kid dropping so low? If I were the rest of the league I’d watch out. He’s going to be gunning for all those teams that passed him up. Beware baby, beware!”

(Scott) “When we return the Sacramento Kings are on the clock for the beginning of the 2nd round. You’re watching the 2009 NBA Draft Lottery from Radio City Music Hall in New York City, sponsored by Flomax.”

31. Sacramento Kings - =LarryLegend=

with the 31st pick in the 2009 NBA draft the Sacramento Kings select Dajuan Summers.

at 6'8" 240ish, his leaping ability and wide shoulders allow him to clear out space and get to the glass, Kings biggest weakness is rebounding and perimeter defense, I thin he can hep with both of these. Defensively he has good instincts and he has shown a willingness to play the passing lanes. He is also from Baltimore where Donte is from.

32. Washington Wizards - MassachusettsKingsFan

With the 32nd Pick in the 2009 NBA Draft, the Washington Wizards select Derrick Brown, Xavier.

Brown is a good type of tweener. A nice piece for this wizards team because he can play a few different positions .. good leaper and energy guy.

Going into the season, this puts the Wizards with this roster -

PG- Stephen Curry / Javaris Crittenton / Mike James
SG- Gilbert Arenas / Nick Young / Deshawn Stevenson
SF- Caron Butler / Deshawn Stevenson / Derrick Brown
PF- Antawn Jamison / JaVale Mcgee / Derrick Brown
C- Andray Blatche / Brendon Heywood / Etam Thomas

This team makes the playoffs next year if they can stay healthy. They can outscore any team in the league.

33. Portland Trailblazers - Gary

33rd pick, Portland selects Jeff Pendergraph.

This will give them a bit more size and someone with athleticism to back up the 4 and 5.

37. San Antonio Spurs - SacKings7

With the 37th pick in the 2009 NBA Draft, the San Antonio Spurs select...

Victor Claver

The Spurs almost always seem to grab late international players that have slipped a bit, from Manu to Barbosa to Splitter. Add Claver's name to the list.

#38 the Blazers pick AJ Price

If Collison doesn't work out they have another player from a good team to give it a try.

...with the 41st pick in the draft the Bucks pick Wayne Ellington. Probably one of the best players available at this point and it gives them someone to back up Michael Redd.

42. LA Lakers - Trueblood

The Lakers flirted with the idea of Nando De Colo in the first round but decided against it. He's still on the board so they'll stash him overseas in hopes that he becomes a star and since he's a 2nd rounder, they won't be stuck with him at the 1st round rookie scale.

45. Minnesota Timberwolves - KingsCitizen

With 45th Pick of the 2009 NBA Draft, the Minnesota Timberwolves selects:

Vyacheslav Kravtsov from Ukraine.

More likely, he will be a project and will have to stay a year or two in overseas to refine his game. But the height and potential is there at 6'11" after adding a few bulk from his current 240lbs.

The second round is no longer televised...

With the #46 pick, The Cleveland Cavaliers select

Rodrigue Beaubois - Point Guard

Too talented for Cleveland to pass up. This improves their back court depth so they can move Delonte West to shooting guard more often.

47. Minnesota Timberwolves - Kingscitizen

With the 47th pick of the NBA 2009 draft, the Minnesota Timberwolves selects:

Garret Siler
from Augusta

This is a total gamble on a 7'0" 300lbs guy. The potential is there for this kid if he continues his work ethic of slimming down. Not even on any mock draft, this just came out of my head. The Timberwolves just made me feel crazy with the recent acquisition of Washington's 5th pick. So now, I just don't think I may hit at least 1 of the picks I made out of this 5 picks I got. Oh wait....at present Twolves will have 6 picks in this draft. That Khan guy is crazier than McHale.....Bring back McHale to give more predictability on this draft....waaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh....

48. Phoenix Suns - Capt. Factorial (sorry for the order confusion...)

With the 48th pick in the 2009 draft, the Phoenix Suns select...

Jonas Jerebko

The Suns were realy hoping that Beaubois would fall to them, but alas the Cavs nabbed him two slots earlier. Despite the fact that they took a tall and versatile SF in the first round, the Suns will do it again here, this time with a Euro version. He's a second round pick, so there's no pressure to bring him over right away. They'll likely let him play a year or two more in Europe and see how he develops.

52. Indiana Pacers - Vlade4GM
With the 52nd pick in the 2009 NBA Draft, the Indiana Pacers select... Sergey Gladyr from Ukraine.

He can be a pretty big steal in the 2nd round. He's 19, so he'll probably stay overseas for a little while but he's pretty athletic and a very good shooter. I doubt he falls this far on draft night. Indiana needs big man depth at this point, I was in between Gladyr and Norel, but Gladyr is too good of a talent in the 2nd round and face it, you're just trying to get the BPA in the 2nd round. Carrying international players' draft rights is always valuable in trades too, especially a young guy with potential.

With the 53rd pick in the 2009 NBA Draft, the San Antonio Spurs select:

Dante Cunningham out of Villanova

The Spurs hope at least 1 of either Cunningham or Claver can give them solid minutes up front soon.
