I seriously doubt it. They changed half of their roster from the bad defensive squad we saw last year and almost everyone they added is a plus defender. Maluach and Fleming haven't played yet. They're a young team so it may take them a month or so to find their footing but they'll probably finish this season with better defensive rankings than we will.

Is the 28th best defense REALLY better than the 29th best defense?

Is the 28th best defense REALLY better than the 29th best defense?

Based on the way they played in pre-season, I expect the Suns to finish somewhere in the 12-20 range in defensive rating this season. I don't think the Suns owner needed to clap back at Bill Simmons on Twitter -- let your team's play do the talking for you -- but that team obviously made a serious effort to address their defensive shortcomings with their off-season roster moves and he's understandably a little upset if no one has noticed.
