I have Omri pegged as one of sixteen breakout candidates next year in terms of taking his game to the next level. As an NBA-talent, he's definitely legitimate, is a top 20 SF already, and he was operating at a starter-type level for us last year, even despite the late season slide. And he's only 22. Decent offensive player already, but I think he's a very underrated defensive player who can D up both ways, which really helps the cause. Of course the "attitude" issues remain--he's a very confident player to the point of cockiness and even pre-draft was said to have temper issues, so there can be a Fernandez-like situation with him if he feels dissatisfied in any way. Personally I do think he has the talent to back it up as well, but Donte Greene is the X-factor here--summer league wunderkind he may be, and while he flashed a lot of potential particularly early this season he also went through a slide late that was worse than Omri's. His physical profile, deflection-style defense and budding triple threat skills can generate a trajectory similar to Andray Blatche if he gets free rein, but if he's splitting minutes it's hard to see him fully growing into his potential. I thought he ended up a solid role player by the end as opposed to certified underrated player, so I'm more confident with giving Omri minutes as of now. But what we should avoid is minute-splitting--it happened last season and while we discovered just how good both can be, if it happens next season Omri can become dissatisfied with the stagnant minutes and Donte won't grow as a SF. So there could be a dilemma there...
