Seems like it's considered this great classic that everyone needs to see, and you're gonna love it. It was totally underwhelming.
On the other hand, sales people say the same thing about Boiler Room, and I finally saw that a couple months ago. It exceeded expectations, not because of the plot or the acting or anything like that, but the lines and the atmosphere is exactly what you'd see if you spent time in a high pressure sales office. I could smell the sleaziness. Awesome.

I dont know why there was sooooo much hate towards "Year One", I thought it was hilarious and so did my bro, I was pretty much laughing thruout the whole movie. I think people have lost touch with there sense of humor in this day and age, and can't just accept things for what they are without always wanting more. Hilarious Movie, will watch it again and add it too my movie collection when it comes out.
Watchmen -- had surprisingly sophisticated themes and a fun retro alternative timeline thing (helped by the soundtrack) got me interested, but it really started to drag mid way through (nearly 3 hours) and I was ready for it to be done.
Happy Gilmore -- hey, I finally saw it, so thought I would mention it. Definitely had its moments but swung and missed on a lot too and wasted some good setups. And boy, I had forgotten just how bad an actor Sandler was when he first started out.

I've never watched a Chinese vampire movie, dubbed into English with a cameo appearance by Jackie Chan. I'm watching it now, though, and am pleasantly surprised.

Just watched "Leon" (1994) With Jean Reno & Natalie Portman,
This movie was very well written and all the actors played their parts amazingly.
Leon is a hitman who witnesses a little girls family get murdered and he has no choice but to take her in. And teach her his way of life, while the little girl also decides to teach him some life lessons.
This movie has Action/Comedy/Drama/Love/ and pretty much everything you could ask for in a movie.
I'm definitely going to buy it and watch it again and again, and i recommend it to everyone. 9/10
I also watched "Gamer" and thought is was predictable, not that well written and the ending was very poor. 5/10

Happy Gilmore is a CLASSIC!! One of the best comedies i've ever seen.
I think Sandler was a wayyy better actor when he first started out.
Yah he played the same character in each movie, which was usually just himself, but he played himself perfectly to each role given. Happy gilmore along with Billy Madison will go down as Legendary movies in my books!
Grizzly Adams did have a beard!
I saw this direct-to-DVD flick called "Blood and Bone", starring Michael Jai White and Eamonn Walker. It was surprisingly effective...if you're in the mood for an martial arts/revenge/street fighting movie with Steven Segal-undertones but better acting (marginally better, but better), check it out. The characters are a bit one-note but the fight scenes are very well done. Definately worth renting.
I always thought that the name difference marked two different cuts of the movie with Leon being the longer international cut but this may or may not have always been true. It has been so long since I saw the US theatrical cut I wouldn't even know the difference.
I fell asleep watching The French Connection last night. I've been picking up any Blu-Rays I can find for $12 or less if I don't already own the DVD. I may try again tonight but I went to work early this morning so I may pass out again. Also thinking about picking up Observe and Report if I find a good deal on Blu tonight, in which case I'd watch that instead.

Just saw "The Informant" on Friday with Matt Damon. Wow, what a different Matt Damon role. A truly strange movie and even stranger role for Damon. Was really good and has a great twist at the end. But very different.
Saw "Julie & Julia" the week before. Really great movie set in Paris in the beginning in the early 40's. Will be enjoyed by everyone who knows/knew who she was. Meryl Streep had a ball playing that role!!!
Guess I'll have to go see "Inglorious Bastards" as it is on some 3 weeks now, probably 'cause we live half hour south of Camp Pendleton Marine Corps base.

Pretty funny movie and good for the kids (we had a 4 and 6 year old, may be a *bit* much for the 4 year old crowd). We enjoy seeing the bits and pieces of other movies you can spot in these films. All the adults enjoyed it, too.

the sentient cooked chickens near the end. Wasn't necessary, and really threw off the feel of the movie, for me, anyways. Not a real big deal, but would have been a great location for "less is more" I think.
I watched Monsters vs Aliens tonight. The little guy seemed to love it as much as a little guy can (he started pseudo break dancing around the floor mid way through which is about as active as I've ever seen him and made my night after a crappy day) but he also loved the Shrek the Musical stuff in the extras. Hmmm. Anyhow it was pretty fun, lots of explosions to push the sub. Not sure if I just keep picking explody movies or if I have the sub set too high. Wifey complained about house shaking from 2 stories away

I guess Dreamworks has kind of become pretty good in their own right.Pandorum - twas not bad... don't expect some great philosophical meaning, but it will keep you entertained, guessing until the end (unless you're one of those people that spends every minute of the movie deducing what's going to happen at the next scene and how the movie will end, in which case, **** you, you make baby jesus cry)and it has one or two scenes that make you jump out. Overall pretty good, but at the very end you just can't help but feel that they just took a bunch of horror/action movies together, put a common theme and let it rip. still a well acted, well thought out movie.
Grosse Pointe Blank -- from way back in the late 90s, when our idea of theater was two guys throwing rocks at each other of course. Had never even known what the movie was about, even basic topic or genre. And turned out I'm still not sure. A hitman rom com? Actually think it had a good idea for what could have been a very funny movie (then again, I thought a comedy about a family of cannibals would be a riot too). But it just kind of...well, sucked. The writers should be sacked. Repeatedly had the scene set up perfectly, and then...just nothing. Very erratic.
