what was the last movie you watched?

Last night I watched "I married an axe Murderer" with mike myers, one of his early films that he did after waynes world, its pretty hilarious if you like Mike Myers comedy. Mike also plays his hilarious dad in the movie.

I also watched "Lock, Stock & two smoking Barrels" which was very funny and one of the best put together films i have seen in a long time.

goin to see district 9 tonight ill elt you know how it is!

last night i watched "Fire in the sky" a 1993 film about a man named travis Walton who was abducted by aliens. Its a true story and freaked me the Eff out when i was done watching it. especially since i did some more research on it and watched travis walton interviews on the internet after. very creepy a must see!

Bricklayer

Don't Make Me Use The Bat
Taken -- I liked it. Neandrathal. Politically incorrect. Cold blooded (one of the most satisfyingly so since Man on Fire). Unnuanced. All of these are the good things that send little ninny critics running to the hills whining horrifically about "mean spiritedness" and poopiehead stereotyping. But they also make for a good strong action/revenge flick, and it got a big boost from having a real actor (Liam Neeson) doing the honors as lead, and from dealing with a nasty bit of real life pee you off ick: human trafficking. Nothing groundbreaking, in fact kind of throwback, but in a good way. Good guy. Bad guys. Bad guys mess with good guy's family. That was a mistake. Ignore plot holes and moral questions. Sit back, chomp popcorn.

^^Gotta agree wholeheartedly. And add one more direction: feel free to cheer out loud for the hero.

I finally got to see The Soloist and was not disappointed. I think Jamie Foxx gave a very good performance with some nuances I would not have expected. Robert Downey Jr. was also fully adequate in a roll that could easily have been under- or over-played.

INGLORIOUS BASTERDS

Didn't like it. I need a spoiler to tell you why:

I am no fan of revisionist history, not even as a work of fiction. The way they ended WWII here would have been lame as hell. No way you get all of the leaders of the 3rd Reich into a single movie theatre and kill them all at once. Plus Tarantino cheaply uses violence to keep you semi-train wreck style entertained as he drags this one out for like 3 days, getting to a climax that could have happened an hour into the movie. Waste of 2 hours and 20 bucks.

In a nutshell, it bored me. Save your money for District 9.

The Killing Room -

Okay, if someone here has watched this, can they help me out? Through the whole movie, I kept waiting for this big revelation, and it never came. The chick doctor struggling with her inner self to find out what she really is? Ok, fine. The "evil" doctor who is putting these people through the tests? Fine. But the characters and the whole plot just never got moving fluidly for me. The whole point was to figure out the human psyche, but it just felt like they strung you along for an hour and a half and then at the end you go, "Wait... that was it??!"

In any case, having heard from multiple sources that it was better than the cube trilogy, I was dissapointed.

District 9

Solid with MAJOR plot holes. **** explodes, human and alien become friends, moral story about greed and racism (hellooooo apartheid reference...) One of better movies of summer, and entertaining as hell.

Watched Race to Witch Mountain with our son. Perfect for the 6-8 year old set. For teens and adults, mildly entertaining in parts, but that is about it.

So Ordinary That It's Truly Quite Extraordinary

Watched a few Netflix streamers last night.

First was a local Portland movie called Film Geek. It was amusing to see lots of Portland landmarks as well as real Portland video stores (we have perhaps the best indie video store in the country here as well as a few others that are top notch) instead of pretending it was anytown USA and renaming everything. On the other hand the film geek's pursuit of the girl in the film makes Jon Favreau's calls to Brooke Langton in Swingers look socially healthy, and that can be painful for me to watch. This was a fun little diversion but I can't recommend it to anyone that hasn't spent a lot of time in Portland.

The other was called Hell on Wheels and was about the Roller Derby revival in Austin, TX. You may remember a lot of these girls from the short lived Rollergirls show on A&E, but it turns out that the years before the show were a heck of a lot more interesting with a league wide revolt splintering into two successful leagues. I also found this amusing because a similar thing has gone on here where I live when a non-profit sporting league I played in decided to go for profit and it was pretty interesting to see the parallels. Pretty cool movie if you're into the whole roller derby thing.

Finally watched Forgetting Sarah Marshall today. I really really liked it. Going into it I thought it would just be another dirty comedy, but it wasnt really like that. It had its funny moments, but I think it was kind of a chick flick at its core .. which is kind of odd that I liked it so much. I especially enjoyed the music =]

Also watched Fighting. Pretty much what I expected .. It was entertaining, but not a great movie. I thought Terrence Howard did a good job. If you like fighting movies, you'll like this.

haha yah I love Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Jason Segal is becoming one of my favourite actors. If you haven't seen it already you should watch "I Love You Man" with Jason Segal & Paul Rudd, very funny movie.

Tonight I watched "Commando" & "Unbreakable"

Commando- Every once in a while you need some govenator action and commando pulled thru today haha. I love arnolds one liners after he brutally murders people lol. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t-tRErs5UcI
That clip is a spoiler if you want to call it that. ;P

Unbreakable- This is just an amazing movie from start to finish, two badass actors in Bruce Willis & Sam Jackson, and a great director in Shamylan. Definitely a must see movie. one of my favs of the 2000's so far.

Saw Inglorious Basterds today - not nearly as violent as some other QT films, and a much better "film" than I anticipated. Some excess violence and bloody shots on occasion, but not TOO bad. Brad Pitt's character is hilarious.

Just watched " Curse Of The Golden Flower" a foreign film with Chow Yun Fat & Li Gong. this movie was pretty awesome, it has probably the best costume design I have seen in any movie recently and its just a really good movie visually. It has a great story and awesome action scenes aswell. I picked it up for 5 bucks at the movie store not knowing what it was, but it was defintiely worth the purchase and the watch.
