Sir Laurence Olivier

Baron Carnegy, "Baron Carnage" (Duelist) - A British noble who once slaked his bloodthirst by challenging duels for even the smallest of infractions. He left his birthright behind and crossed the pond for more reliable game in the wild frontier. It would be wise not to refer to him by his nickname within earshot unless one wishes to be added to his long list of kills.

Otay dotay:

Title: Growing Up Cannibal

Tag: Her family would like to have you for dinner.

Description: When two weeks before her 18th birthday heiress Elizabeth James (Drew Barrymore) announces to her family that she has decided to become a vegetarian, it threatens a secret family tradition and sets in motion hilarious events that could get half the cast eaten.
You know what's really weird is that I knew somebody with a cannibalism-comedy screenplay several years ago, and Drew Barrymore's company was very interested in it. If you switch it up so Drew has an age she can play today, there could be a chance! ;)

By the way, I didn't realize you would put the whole character capsule on the front page, I was just starting to flesh out the roles. You could just use the first sentence on Olivier's description if you like.

I haven't worried too much about the rest of my cast - with one very notable exception. I can think of TWO people in this draft at least who just might grab this actress and since I haven't been able to think of anyone else who could fit the role I'm grabbing her for, I cannot wait any longer.

Eliza Dushku

I have this funny feeling that NME's movie could well be the 2004 lakers of this draft: a cast so stacked, you ask yourself, "how could this possibly go wrong," and then it does.

The Nation proudly presents..

Ryan Reynolds

as

"Damon 'DJ' Johnson"

Blade: Trinity
The Amityville Horror
Just Friends

Eliza Dushku

I've never heard of her, but looking at the pic, I think I know which 2 people you're referring to :p

My pick:

Terrence Howard

I think he's proven that he's not at his best in a lead role. I loved him in Crash and I think that sort of role suits him perfectly. He'll likely have a smaller role in this film, but he can still be a very effective and important character.

So now that my movie's out in the open, I think I need to solidify this guy before someone else snags him. With my 10th pick, I choose:

River Phoenix
(Dink Meeker (Dutch)/Stilson (American))

Filmography:
Actor Credits
Music Credits
Dink Meeker - Ender's platoon leader in Rat Army, Dink is a very good strategist who always looks out for Ender. He tries to stop Bonzo and warns Ender of the plot to kill him. Dink is one of Ender's squadron leaders in the battles with the buggers.

More:
Dink Meeker is a Battle School student of Dutch descent. He is portrayed as one of those who refuses to play the teacher's game. He says that he was offered command of an army twice, but refused to play. He was paranoid of the game, convinced the teachers were the enemy and that the Bugger War was fake so that all children with ability for command were in the hands of the International Fleet; however, he loved the game, so he stayed as a toon leader. Dink asked for Ender Wiggin to be transferred into Rose de Nose's army under his command as a toon leader after he had watched Ender. He sees Ender's new strategies, such as blocking vital parts of the body with his legs, and recruits him, teaching his own toon Ender's tactics. Dink refrains from protecting Ender, instead inciting independence in him. Later, he is sent to Command School along with the rest of Ender's jeesh. His ability for command is commented by Petra Arkanian, who jokingly states that he has the "mind of a child".

After the war, Dink is sent back to Earth. However, he is quickly captured, along with the rest of Ender's jeesh, by Achilles. He consoles Petra and talks with her often, but they are separated when Dink and the others are rescued but Achilles keeps Petra with him. When Graff gives the jeesh the opportunity to leave Earth and govern a colony to save the world from the inevitable warfare that will come if they remain, Dink is among the first to accept.
“It’s the teachers, they’re the enemy. They get us to fight each other, to hate each other. The game is everything. Win win win. It amounts to nothing."

Stilson - The bully who attempts to gang up in Ender back in the days before battle school, he is unintentionally killed by Ender in a fight. Ender learns that he killed Stilson while watching the tapes of Graff's trial.

Shut Yo Mouth!

On loan from Hot Buttered Soul records:

Isaac Hayes

Among his many credits are an Academy Award for Best Original Song, but most importantly to the readers of this forum - he was the voice of Chef in South Park.

He will bring his incredible voice and soul, as well as his acting experience in such movies as I'm Gonna Git You Sucka, and more importantly, Robin Hood: Men in Tights, where he has previous experience working with Mel Brooks.

Damn, I had a killer idea for a LAM, too. Not as well developed, and hasn't been bugging me for the last ten years, like the concept I went with, but one that probably would have gotten me a lot more votes.

Thanks for your patience. When I say I've lost home Internet, I mean permenantly. But I'm drudging along so worry not.

I'll make this quick. I'm taking a talented actor who is a stretch for this genre and role, but because my top options have been taken, I'm going bpa or at least bpa who could pull this specific epic off.

Andy Garcia

Still debating which role I want him in. I'll get back to you

Ah yes, the votes. Time for a little annoucnement/discussion:

VF21 suggested something to me last week that sounded like a good idea, and I have since been mentally fleshing it out. People are putting a tremendous amount of thought/work into these things, and this is the movies right? So rather than having the normal bracket sort of approach where your fate is to a certain degree a matter of luck in who you match up with and half the people die int he first round, I was thinking of the following:

Have one big poll (or if the software won't allow the extension of the poll to 16 items, have two 8 movie polls), and allow each voter to "spend" a certain number of votes/dollars to watch movies per round. In other words, in round 1 with all 16 movies available, allow each voter to "watch"/vote for let's say the 4 movies they would most like to watch that round. After a week in the theaters, close the poll and send the 4 (or whatever) lowest grossing movies off to the DVD market. Then the remaining movies make it into week 2, I'm thinking possibly with their week 1 earnings intact, everybody gets new votes/dollars to spend, and you vote on the 3 (or whatever) movies you'd most like to see during the second week. Etc. Chop off the lowest grossers at the end of the week, and go to the third round, and then a 4th. Whoever has the most votes/highest gross at the end of the final week = the winner.

Would perhaps diversify the voting -- you might not have the favorite movie/genre of a particular voter, but maybe you might be the 4th favorite and they will vote to check it out.

I like it. Count me as a yes vote.
