I'm taking a specialist. I need someone who can write a realistic, emotional and believable script. He'll also help develop my side-plots etc..

Paul Haggis

Screenwrite for:

Crash
Million Dollar Baby
Letters from Iwo Jima
Flags of our Fathers

And many others. Haggis became the first screenwriter, since 1950, to write two Best Film Oscar winners back-to-back - "Million Dollar Baby" (2004) directed by Clint Eastwood, and "Crash" (2005) which he himself directed. He's a great writer and certainly one of, if not the, best around today.

It's time to start drafting specialists. I'm going to start with a cinematographer: Sven Nykvist.

Considered one of the greatest cinematographers of all time with a resume of over 120 films, Nykvist is best known for his close association with director Ingmar Bergman and was awarded the Academy Award for best cinematography twice (Cries and Whispers, 1973; Fanny and Alexander 1982; both Bergman films). The scene depicted below (from Bergman's "Winter Light") is iconic and an example of Nykvist's uncanny knack to compose a scene, and to use light to full advantage. His ability to compose a scene with respect to the lighting is going to be crucial to making this film, as you will see.

Julie Hagerty

Of Airplane! fame, but what cemented this role for her was seeing her update that performance into airhead motherhood in Just Friends (2005).

We have, BTW, an interesting offer. A new studio (Superman SCE) has offered to pick up the project abandoned by Gary Production Inc.

If there are no objections I think the time to do it would be at the end of this round -- after Monty's first pick, but before her second, Superman would get a whole swath of makeup picks to get the project back on track (4 actor/specialist picks, and a Tag pick).

Now that my writer, director and a good portion of my crew are in place, I need to make sure the mood is right or the film simply will not work. From Peter Gunn to Breakfast at Tiffany's...and many other movie scores to his credit, I figure I cannot go wrong by adding this musical icon to my project.

ForestDweller Productions proudly announce that Henry Mancini will be doing the original score for our film.

Sounds good to me.

Funny - I hadn't seen her in forever, and then just the other night she was in Confessions of a Shopaholic (watched it with my wife).

Awesome. That's like in real Hollywood where projects get restarted straight from production hell. Shell I alert Variety?

Raquel Welch

Huge pic:

Kitty DeVille (America's Mata Hari) - A hooker with a heart of gold and a pistol tucked in her garter. She retired from a life of espionage and assassination to run a brothel just outside our quiet town. "Mrs. Smith is the only woman in town who ever addressed me as a lady. Now I'm no lady, to be perfectly honest, but I always appreciated the thought."

With the new production company in town, let me make my pick so Supes can go with makeup picks now. I may make my second pick later today because I'm heading out the door shortly.

MBF Studios next selects...

Zoe Saldana - Supporting Actress

Mr. Ritchie and Mr. Hammett are still crafting characters so Ms Saldana's role will be announced at a later time.

Okay, so I'm still working on my tag and plot and such, so I'll come back to that. Let me pick some cast/crew here. I have three picks to make, plus the tagline, right?

The new studio has decided to shake things up a bit, and will be announcing some changes to the roles shortly. For now, let's show some nerve by announcing the newest member of our cast to the public.

Michael Emerson
Lost -- Benjamin Linus/Henry Gale (regular)
The Practice -- Williams Hinks (recurring role)

Superman SCE releases the following presser:

In a shocking development, Joaquin Phoenix, lead actor for our studio's upcoming dark thriller (yet to be named), has expressed a desire to leave the project. We find this desire unfortunate, and are doing all we can to appease Mr. Phoenix's desires. Partly due to the change from Gary Studios to Superman SCE, he feels a compelling desire to find his inner self. He also wishes to pursue more fully his hip hop career. We appreciate his concerns. Thankfully, he has agreed to stay on the project, but wishes to have a slightly reduced role.

Due to Mr. Phoenix's concerns (and contractual obligations), the studio will be working on some rewrites and adjustments in the coming days, designed to keep him as involved as possible. We will keep you informed.

This change has allowed Superman SCE to pursue an agreement with Sony Pictures and Overbrook Entertainment, and as such, we are pleased to announce the signing of megastar Will Smith as our new lead actor.

Mr. Smith needs no introduction, but in case you forgot, he's earned two Academy Award nominations (Ali, The Pursuit of Happyness). We feel that his contributions to this project will allow us to stay on track with our production schedule, and will contribute to an extremely entertaining overall product.

Glad to have Superman SCE join our first annual Kingsfans.com Film Festival!!! (I just made up the name... :p)

Nice find on Will Smith.

MBF Studios next selects....

Bill Murray - Supporting Actor

Mr. Ritchie feels fortunate to have landed Mr. Murray and believes his unique blend of comedic timing and flair for more dramatic roles will make him a natural fit for the cast. As with Mr. del Toro and Ms. Saldana, our screenwriter is fleshing out a precise role for Mr. Murray.

Bruce Lee

"The Dragon" (Kung Fu Master) - This mysterious visitor from the East is a hired hand that has never been seen to pick up a gun, but instead uses a strange form of combat to dispatch his foes with his hands and feet.

No mention of Transformers?

Great picks btw. If I didn't choose comedy, Smith and Shia would be long gone
Purposely left Transformers out in favor of the three movies he's done his best acting in. I haven't seen Revenge of the Fallen (yet), so I'm basing that statement off of the first installment.

With most of the cast on board, Forest Dweller Productions is looking for some cameo people to get the audience to sit up and say, "Hey, wait. Isn't that ______?" So, in a perfect small but compelling role, we're adding this actress to the crew:

Conchata Ferrell
