I'm going with possibly the best movie to ever be released, and certainly the best sci-fi themed movie in existence. Its charm captivated youth and adults alike even today, 32 years after its first unveiling to the world in 1977. Ladies and Gentelmen I choose the Star Wars Universe.

If Kings Faithful had been thinking in broader terms, my first pick could have been stolen from me. As it is, however, to start this draft I'm taking:

Movies -- All of 'em. Whatever I feel like watching, whenever I feel like watching it, there it be. Beautiful prints, with great sound, forever at the ready. Going on the assumption that the next few rounds are going to feature broader and broader picks (as people realize how much they can get away with in this draft and before things get so over-selected that we have to start creating groups and sub-categories), I knew that I'd want to start with an enduring source of entertainment. Of all the things I nerdily obsess over, and this draft should show that there are A LOT, I have been a fan of film the longest. So, everyone is of course welcome to continue grabbing individual titles and genres, but I've got access to the whole lot. And I'm good with that.

Don't forget! By picking movies you also get the countless crappy ones that come along with it! :p

GGG, by the end of round 20, I think some of the best are going to be ripped from your fingers!

However, do enjoy Caddyshack 2, Antz, and Jason Takes Manhattan because the rest of us will sure miss those golden gems which shall sadly remain in your archive forevermore!

Again, there's really no finger ripping in this draft.

By selecting "movies" as a general category/concept, it means that I'm the only one with unlimited access to every movie ever made in the history of film. However, this doesn't mean that other people can't select films in other configurations (whole genres, whole franchises, whole filmographies, etc.), nor does it mean that any of those configurations selected later would somehow be deducted from the movies theoretically available to me.

Books

My knowledge is expanding and limitless, points of views across generations of people and time, stories of tribulation and sadness or of fairy tales and happy endings.

Pure knowledge, lessons, teachings. All mine all the time.

While I would normally include a picture and a bit of a write-up with each pick, I think I'm going to skip that this time. For reasons that should be obvious. With my second pick, I'm drafting:

Sex -- 'nuff said.

I gotta tell you I am staying in this "draft" purely for GGG's sake at this point because this is just stupid. :p

We've gone from a favorites draft talking about favorite albums or restaraunts or games or whatever to a broad as possible everything pile of mush inside of one round. In fact I think I'll just make that my next pick "Everything" just to make sure I cover infinity.

I'd protest an "everything" pick, for the record, but I don't know if it would be seconded.

Also, it feels ridiculously broad at this point, but I don't imagine it will stay this way for long. Logistically, that's not even possible. Based on the decision to go a full 20 rounds, I think it will start to get very narrow and very specific pretty soon. I don't know what anyone else is planning, but my list has a pretty good range of both broad topics and specific items.

Ultimately, it's based on pdx's vision, so I can't really comment on his specific motivations, but he was clear in wanting to allow broad topics and ideas. Took me a bit to pick up on it myself, hence the initial flub in the rules, but in the long term one can see how such unfettered freedom will eventually force a different element of creativity and strategy that should be very fun to watch.

Ultimately I guess if someone wanted to they could come up with the most broad and expansive picks imaginable and if the voters vote on "he who has the most toys wins" principle then maybe they will win. I know that's not how I vote but I seem to get stuck in last most of the time so what do I know? I think there's been some really interesting picks so far by those that aren't taking the try to capture everything in one pick approach.
