this draft is so dependent on our ideas that some greats may not even get taken.
I really think this idea is key. I'm not even considering drafting many of my favorite actors simply because they're not right for the roles in my concept.

Still, I thought I'd be able to nab my leading man first and hold off on my leading lady. But Gadget and Slim spooked me and because this woman really is the only person I could legitmately see in this role, my first overall pick is:

Salma Hayek

Taking into account my genre and the fact that Hayek is my first pick, some of you may already know what I'm aiming at. But eh, I'll wait a few more rounds before I start talking about it openly.

I will say Hayek is, as I mentioned, the only person I could think of who could provide both star power/name recognition and depth/legitimacy to the very central figure in my film.

I can fill the leading man role with half a dozen solid actors, but in my mind, Hayek is the optimal choice for my lady.

You have no idea how close you came to missing out.

I had a write up halfway done, and everything. Lucky for you, I decided at the last minute that I wanted a blond lead.

Thank God too, because you would have had a Germanic vendetta* on your head. I don't even want to talk about who I was being forced to consider as alternates.

*If you're scoring at home, that would be a "Blutrache"

Almost the last day. I leave for the PR tomorrow. And now, for my first pick:

Melvin Kaminsky, also known as Mel Brooks. My musical will have the best and most brilliantest mind as its director. Behold his glory!

So I had a few ways to go here. Lead hero? Villain? Here's someone versatile enough to be both! With my first choice, I select:

Christian Bale
(Peter Wiggin (American)/Crazy Tom (British))

Filmography:
Peter - Ender's older brother Peter is a cruel and evil child, gifted in manipulation. He has the same ruthlessness that his siblings contain but without any of their compassion. Valentine is able to protect Ender as best she can from Peter until Ender goes away. Peter then decides to take an active role in world affairs and convinces Valentine to help him. Under the pseudonym Locke he begins to gather power, working through the communication nets. After Ender's victory Peter obtains total control of earth and becomes Hegemon, the ruler of the world. His ambition is sated and he actually makes for a good ruler, although he is as amoral is he ever was.

More:
Valentine and Ender's older brother, Peter is completely lacking in the compassion that the other two have and has only ruthlessness in its place. He is a sadistic brother and it is unclear at many points whether or not he is considering killing Ender and Valentine. Peter is the mastermind behind the actions that he and Valentine take in world political affairs, and he is motivated by his thirst for power. His lack of compassion makes Peter a man devoid of humanity. He acts solely for his own benefit and, although he has a profound understanding of others, uses his knowledge only to probe their weaknesses to his own advantage.

Peter eventually gains power over the entire earth and becomes the Hegemon, the leader of the world. He is able to do so peacefully, although this is not necessary for him, it was merely the most expedient way to gain power. The difference between Peter and Ender, although it sometimes seems slight, is in reality a fundamental difference. Other people matter too much for Ender to do willingly endanger them, but Peter takes the opposite path. He is concerned only with himself, and although this leads him to be the ruler of all humans on earth, it makes Peter as far from human as possible. It is the nature of power, and the effect it has on people, that creates the resemblance between Peter and Ender.
(Peter) "Another oral exam, huh?"
(Valentine) "Shut up, Peter,"
(Peter) "You should relax and enjoy it. It could be worse."
(Valentine) "I don't know how."
(Peter) "It could be an anal exam."

Crazy Tom - One of Ender's toon leaders in Dragon Army, Crazy Tom takes the initiative well and thinks quickly on his own. He is one of Ender's platoon leaders during the battles of the Third Invasion.

More:
Crazy Tom is a British student. He is a veteran soldier who leads the "C" toon in Dragon Army. He got his nickname due to his temperament, as he couldn't stand to work under commanders that he considered to be stupid. He wrecked rooms and once sent a message to every kid in the school about how bad his commander was. As a result, he was constantly on the transfer lists (soldiers that commanders were willing to trade). He was also the most transferred soldier in Battle School History who hadn't been sent home. However, once he was under Ender, he cooled down and performed well. He later forms a sort of friendship with Bean, even helping him capture Achilles along with several other soldiers from Bean's army. Bean expects him to be the next to "blow out" after the others during the simulation against the Formics but instead he seems to become "saner" as the stress piles on. He later became a commander in the Formic War where they lead a "Third Invasion" and attack the Buggers to ensure the survival of humanity. By the time of Shadow of the Giant, he has become a lecturer on strategy at Royal Military Academy Sandhurst.

For whatever reason it didn't pop up that I had a PM. I got the email but it didn't show it on this site. Anyway, on to my pick

This guy was crucial to my movie, so I'm glad I got lucky and landed ahead of Bricklayer and kingsnation. Even though they may have no use for him, I would've been very nervous on missing out.

I'm taking:

Ron Burgundy, Steve Butabi, Ricky Bobby, Frank the Tank, Chazz Michael Michaels, Jackie Moon..aka Will Ferrell

Bricklayer

Don't Make Me Use The Bat

Nah -- he was safe, from me at least. Your lead?

Hopefully you snuck this in before Dime Dropper's Emerald Isle lights out.

I'm very interested to see what direction you're taking in that case. We may not have much competition for our supporting casts.

And yes, Ferrell is my lead, a la Ron Burgundy.

Oh, I fear I have all kinds of trouble brewing on multiple fronts for my core actors. If I get my Top 4 people it will be a minor miracle -- and of course a testament to my strategical genius. :p

Yeah he would've been safe from me too.

Safest thing to do is just take my director. I don't think my movie is going to have many big name actors, anyway. I want a guy who will bring emotion, bring the best out of his cast, and produce a realistic and memorable film.

My pick:

Steven Spielberg

Undoubtedly one of the best directors of our time. The perfect director for my historical movie.

Capt. Factorial

For my first pick I'm going to select my female lead. As well as being one of the most beautiful women who has ever lived, she was a fantastic actress. She could tell more about her character with her eyes than most screenwriters could pack into three pages of script. I select Ingrid Bergman.

Will you people hurry up! My first pick is integral to the entire deveopment of my film!! Time is money, peeps.

:p

Bricklayer

Don't Make Me Use The Bat
I'm gonna pick the only guy who can make my movie and make it a huge commercial success (sorry Stanley):

James Cameron

One of my ideas I set aside at the end definitely was going to use Cameron, so guess I'm glad I went another way.

However, I am not sure how many votes you are going to win wiht a remake of Titanic. :p
