Last night was a strangly entertaining show. Sanjay. The little girl crying. I thought the star of the night was Lulu. Who is she? Man, she can sing and she has a lot of energy and was one of the best mentors I have seen on the show. Wtih that said.....
PERFORMANCE OF THE NIGHT - Blake Lewis (A)
This guy is cool as hell!!! That was a great song choice, and his vocals were spot on point. He is not a dynamic singer, but he is an electric performer that seems to be born to be on the stage.
The rest in order......
Haley Scarnato (C)
Her voice is so shallow that I would hit my head if I dove into it. With that siad, she was OK. She got a lot of attention with her Stockton Blvd look
(those that live in South Sac know where I am going with that
) This was her best performance, however that is not saying much.
Chris Richardson (B)
Also his best performance. I am not a fan of his, but he sang with no mistakes, under control. He can not help but to be nasaly which is rather annoying. In my view he is a terrible dresser. He looks like he should be on a bicycle delivering my newspaper.
Stephanie Edwards (C-)
I had to think about this performance to come up with a good critique. And the more I thought about it the worst the performance got. I CAN NOT HELP BUT HEAR BEYONCE. And that is not a good thing, because she tends to try to bend her notes and misses. Both Paula and Simon said she is losing her passion, drive and energy. I think that at just 19 and competing against the older, more talented Lakisha and melinda is wearing her down.
Lakisha Jones (B+)
I completely disagree with a previous poster on her performance. She was very, very good.
Not the Lakisha of the past few weeks, but still 10 times better than all but one or maybe two last night. She has this Nell Carter thing going on, and has serious stage presence. I don't know about her "singing angry". The judges were not very thrilled with the song choice, and neither was I. I am not ashamed to admit that I am somewhat biased towards her, because i have liked her since her audition.
Phil Stacey (B/B-)
Song did not fit his style, but he sounded good. I disagree with Simon, as far as him being in trouble. he did well enough to go through.
Jordin Sparks (A-)
Very dramatic. SENSATIONAL!!!! Very composed for 17, and is not fainting under the pressure of the big lights. She is moving up in the rankings.
Sanjay Malakar (B-)
WOW!!!! I was speechless after that performance. Sanjay really came out of the closet last night
![Stick Out Tongue :p :p](data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7)
. Honestly, that was his best performance and he and little Ashley's performance will get him through this week. I don't think Sanjay is as bad as many think he is.
Gina Glocksen (C/C-)
Every week is the same with her. She dresses the same way and sings the same type songs, and she is becoming stale and predictable. Simon said she has "Style over Content", and I absolutely agree.
Chris Sligh (C)
See Gina. He is the worst performer in the group. Not the worst singer, he can sing al'ight. But he too is becoming stale and boring.
Melinda Doolittle (B+)
I was not as thrilled as the judges were. Don't get me wrong she was great as usual, i just did not love her as much as the judges did. Her old fashion image kind of showed last night (that was a horrible wig she had on). With that said, she sang a really boring song well and is still the lady to beat.
Predicted Bottom Three- Chris Sligh, Gina, Stephanie Edwards
Going Home - Stephanie Edwards
