I don't think Jordin is boring. I don't think Blake is boring. I think they're entirely different talents and it's really unfair to compare them. I do think Jordin has more market appeal to a broader range of people and, for that reason, I suspect she will win hands down. Blake is more of an acquired taste. His beat box gets old sometimes, which is unfortunate because I really like his singing voice.

I cannot understand why anyone would be upset with either of them winning. I still maintain they're the best final two in a very long time and should both end up with nice careers.

I agree that Jordin will win. I completely disagree that she is more marketable!! Jordin can sing, but she is boring. She is marketable how? Because she is young? Because she.....what? Though we live in a world of MP3, CD and recorded music, we also live in a world of You Tube, MTV and videos that are used to market songs. Jordin is a stand still singer in the mold of Whitney Houston. Every other pop star can dance and has a particular look (i.e. Fergie, Gwen Stephani). The days of the stand behind the microphone and blow type singers are of the past. You've got to have a niche, an edge, an act that people can see.
Jordin has the most potential. That is why she is the most marketable. Right now, Blake bores the crap out of me. Jordin at least is pleasing to listen to. The rest of the stuff can be taught. Blake's beatbox thing is really old, and thats his niche. He voice isn't great, even as a "different" kind of voice. Bon Jovi = different kind of voice, but he sings somewhat in tune. Blake hurts my ears. Maybe its all the years of musical training and the music snob in me bleeding through, but thats just me. Fortunately, the rest of the world doesn't care if the people they listen to can actually sing (i.e. Fergie, Gwen Stephani).

It may not be fair to compare the two, but guess what, they are both in the final 2, so they get compared. Are they the best final two in a long time? Meh. I guess so. I'm not sure thats saying much.

It's like comparing apples and oranges IMHO. Of course, I don't have the benefit apparently of years of musical training so please forgive me if my opinion isn't as valid as yours.

Most of the world doesn't have years of musical training. Has little to do with who ends up as a music "idol."

I just find them to be very different. To me Jordin is the best vocal talent, although she bored me sometimes. I suspect she will develop vocally and especially become a better performer. She's only 17, after all.

I just like Blake. He has a lot of appeal/charisma. He's certainly not the vocalist Jordin is, but I find him less boring and more entertaining as a performer. His vocals are sometimes boring to me, just like Jordin. I did like the fact that he was sometimes willing to take a risk with how he performed songs. More creative and not a clone every time.

I suspect both can have successful careers, if they really want it (along with Melinda).

VF, now now. I didn't say your opinion wasn't as valid, I belive my post said, "but thats just me." Nowhere did I say that your opinion wasn't valid. I simply gave my points for believing what I do. I didn't realize my rebuttal to the discussion had risen to a personal attack.

Right now I think it's Jordin's title to win or lose. I'm looking forward to their last performances. Blake has continued to improve, and I was pleased to see that he listened to the advice of Randy and Simon, and cut back on the beat box stuff a little. He has a great voice...

I'm thinking this is just about the best final two I can remember.
man i think this was the worst american idol ever, blake doesn't have a great voice just beat box thingamigy skills, and jordins singing hmmmmmm probably a 5/10,but then again its not about talent its about winning over the world with what ever you could do best be it dancing, style or "BEAT BOXING" but this year american idol defintely lacked the talent singing wise , i liked the year with bo bice, im looking forward to the lot! yeah thats how much american idol sucked for me!!!!:D

Cripes... I sat through two hours of dribble on the DVR only to find the winner got cut off cuz the show ran over? What a waste. So much filler and garbage, especially Gwen via sattelite. Oh well.

Congrats to Lady Jordin Sparks!!!! Well done, now go forth and share with the world your gift of singing.

As far as last night's show.......:( . The highlight was Blake's performance with the "great" Doug E. Fresh. Maybe it was a downer because I was looking for the greatness of last year's finale. I was looking for the "Prince" moment. Hoping beyond hope that Michael Jackson ("The Original American Idol", "The King of Pop" who was rumored to be a part of the show this year) would come from behind the curtain and throw down a set. But it did not happen.

This was a down year for Idol. But I will say my favorite performances of the season included

Blake's - The Time of the Season (best of the season)
Lakisha's - And I am Telling You
Melinda's - I'm a Woman

Until next season.......

SIDENOTE: Take a minute to go back at the beginning of this thread to see how we did as far as rankings and prognostication. for the most part we all did, very very well. Based on what I saw we had the final Four (Jordin, Blake, Melinda, Lakisha) slotted very early in the competition. WELL DONE IDOL HEADS.

Congrats to Jordin!

And I cannot wait until the first Blake CD comes out! It's probably a blessing for his career he didn't win so he could do his own thing instead of what American Idol Inc. tells him to do.

Congrats to Jordin...she was the better of the 2.
As for the show, I thought the singing with G. Knight was awesome, Milinda & Lakecia were the highlight....beautiful. I kept hoping to see Jennifer Hudson get up from her chair & break out singing! Oh yeah she was voted off back in her day...too bad;)

Yeah, thanks VF! I've seen very little of Jordin but she has a good voice, Blake is more of a beatboxer than a singer (from the clips I've seen on youtube). I really don't know enough about them to say who I think should have won.
