Hall of Famer
I am pretty much 100% sure that barring a complete collapse from anyone else Hayley does not have a chance this week.

One more day!

Here's my updated list:

1. Melinda Doolittle
2. Jordin Sparks
3. Lakisha Jones
4. Blake Lewis
5. Gina Glocksen
6. Phil Stacey
7. Chris Richardson
8. Haley Scarnato
9. Sanjaya Malakar

Hall of Famer
Blake --- (B-) --- Not one of his best performances, but he is not a lounge lizard type of performer...I think what he did was enough because it was out of his comfort zone, and he pulled it off admirably.

Melinda --- (A+) --- What more can be said...She's incredible.

Chris --- (A) --- The guy performance of the night...For the first time since "Geek in the Pink" I actually was wowed by a Chris performance. Great job!

Jordin --- (A-) --- Another great performance. I think she is right up there with Melinda.

Phil --- (D) --- Dreary...Dark...Depressing...Slow...Uninspired...Just not good.

Gina --- (C) --- Eh...It didn't leave an impression...She has enough to make it through another round though...Really slow songs just turn me out...Leave an impression!

Sanjaya --- (C) --- Sanjaya is a performer. He is a mediocre singer who will make his money on his antics and for some reason his looks. Bold prediction of the night, he makes it into the Top 4.

Hayley --- (D+) --- All I can say about what the judges said, "OUCH!" My gosh, that was harsh...She wasn't even the worst of the night...And her looks and marginal talent will pull her through one more time because Phil just didn't do enough.

Lakisha --- (B-) --- She was singing angry and had the whole "Ursela" sound to her voice again. I think she is a notch below both Jordin and Melinda.

Rating for this week's show.

1: Melinda (Awesome)
2: Jordin (She was fabulous)
3: Chris (Great rebound...Keep it up!)
4: Blake (For the first time I wasn't blown away, and another guy was noticeably better)
5: Lakisha (Personal taste...I just don't like her voice)
6: Gina (Rocker chick shouldn't be subdued)
7: Sanjaya (He's fun)
8: Hayley (Her looks will pull her through)
9: Phil (Sorry buddy, you blew it)

And Phil is going home.

Entertaining night last evening. One excellent, one very good, three good performances and the rest were pretty average. But entertaining none the less.

PERFORMANCE OF THE NIGHT - Melinda Doolittle (A+)
THAT WAS IT!!!! She said "I Got Rhythm" and she ain't lying she's got it. It was electric, professional. She is such a technician. She is head and shoulders above everybody else when it comes to professionalism and technical skills. She literally sang three songs in one flawlessly. Brilliant!!!

Blake Lewis (B/B-)
He sang "Mac The Knife". Not spetacular, but good. Over the last two weeks, we have not seen Blake-like performances. And that is when he is at his best and able to shine. His vocals were more in the spotlight, and that is when you see his vulnerability. I want to hear him BLOW. It did not happen last night. But he was good enough.

Phil Stacey (C)
I was kind of confused the whole time he was on stage. there was this weird disconnect between him, the song and the band. They were all on stage, but not together.

Chris Richardson (C)
WARNING BIASED COMMENTS COMING: I thought his appearance was not good. The problem I have with Chris is that he has no maturity in his voice, in a group that is full of mature voices. He was OK, the judges liked him more than I did.

Jordin Sparks (B-)
She once again had a little lamb in her throat. She was good, her breathing was not good.

Gina Glockson (B-)
Once again a solid performance. I just knew she was in trouble when Mr. bennett said that "Smile" remined him of September 11. She was a tad bit boring, but she sang well. She is showing that she can break out of the rocker chick sound if she wants to.

Sanjaya Malakar (C)
He actually looked nice. But that is about all I can say. He wasn't horrible. He is so dog gone reserved. He needs to break out of that soft singing and take some chances. His "WELCOME TO THE UNIVERSE OF SANJAYA" comment may be the break we all have been looking for. I hope America was turned off by that smugness of his.

Haley Scarnato (D+)
Somebody has told her to sex it up. Because I swear, over the past few weeks she is showing more skin. Don't get me wrong, she looks hot, but it ain't helping her talent. Last night she reminded me of Jessica Rabbit. She was pichy and a little off, worst performance of the night.

Lakisha Jones (A-)
The sass, the attitude is all in her face, and that is what makes her performances appealing. She literally feels the music, unlike some others in this competition. Her vocals were very good. I know some on this board, may see anger. Don't confuse anger with passion, she has passion. Stormy Weather is a song to be sang with passion. Her best performance in the last couple of weeks.

Predicted Bottom Three: Haley, Phil and finally a Sanjaya appearance in the Top Three.

Going Home: Phil

I, too, read the recap and I'm with you. In my opinion, Sanjaya should have been gone a long time ago.
Everyone agrees, he sucks. In fact he needs tons of vocal training because he has serious pitch issues. His voice just isn't refined.

But he has one thing that almost everyone else doesn't have. He's a showman, an entertainer. He does have a personality and most importantly uses it to put on a show. His singing may suck but at least he's entertaining and I can't say that about most of the other contestants.

Sanjaya and Haley have made it because of side reasons. Sanjaya because of his entertainment value (and the fact that its driving everyone nuts that he's in) and Haley, well if you've taken a look at her, you know why.

I actually think that Sanjaya has made it this far due to the www.votefortheworst.com website campaign.

It's a combination of several factors - that website, howard stern, indian people, apathetic people who just like messing around, etc..

But either way, my point was that even though he's bad, I don't consider him the worst because he can at least entertain. Unlike say Phil who's not that good and is boring as hell.

Haley's boring too but I definitely don't mind watching her.

At this point, as long as Blake, Melissa, Jordin and LaKisha stay in the competition, I'm not going to lose any sleep over who else gets voted off. Now if Sanjaya stays longer than any one of them, I will be very irate.

Here are my revised standings:

1. Melissa
2. Jordin
3. Blake
4. LaKisha
5. Phil
6. Chris
7. Sanjaya
8. Haley

I completely agree with that statement. With that said, I will never understand how somebody can pick up the phone and with a clear conscious (relativly speaking) can vote for either of those two.

1. Melinda
2. Lakisha
3. Blake
4. Jordan
5. Chris
6. Phil
7. Sanjaya
8. Haley

Note: Rock and VF21 her name is Melinda:eek: . I hope that is not a bad omen.

I've been away from a computer for a few days, but I was absolutely irate when Gina got voted off...I was 100% sure Phil was going to be going home.

But thats no worry...It's not a real competition until the "Big Four" go at each other.

Anyways, here's my new list.

1: Melinda (She's just great)
2: Blake (Remember, do your thing!)
3: Jordin (My new favorite girl since Gina is gone)
4: Lakisha (She's good, but not thrilling)
5: Phil (Make an impression)
6: Sanjaya (Keep on entertaining me)
7: Chris (Guaranteed he returns to his boring unimpressive state)
8: Hayley (I can't believe you're here instead of Gina)

Does anyone know the theme for next week? I must be crazy because I could have sworn I heard them say the "mentor" for next week would be Jenifer Lopez =/ I know the following week is "Country week" with Martina McBride being the musical guest. Side story about her is that she hated American Idol and now says its "ok" because these contestants still have to prove themselves as artists after the show is over.

I have no clue what they are going to do with J-Lo.

I guess it might be another pop-week? Maybe?

I guess we're on a wait and see schedule.

GO BLAKE!

I suspect Sanjaya will bring down the house, unfortunately. This seems like it might be something he could really get into...

blech.

Hall of Famer
Melinda (C+) --- And that C+ is by Melinda standards...She was still on the top tier of singers, but for the first time all season she wasn't either one or two.

Lakisha (B-) --- I thought she did slightly better than Melinda, but both of the usual two heavy hitters came out and by their standards laid eggs...Not terrible, but one of her least memorable performances.

Chris (C) --- Back to the usuall...Very unimpressive and boring until the very end when he started to up the tempo a bit...A bad start to his song really hurts, though.

Phil (C-) --- And here we see Phil come to the end of the line...He has a nice voice, but he does not has the pizazz of any of the other contestants...He doesn't have the knockout voice of the best names, he doesn't have the showmanship of a Blake or Sanjaya, nor does he have Hayley's stunning looks...All we have is an above average singer who is now in over his head...Sorry Phil.

Jordin (A) --- I love Jordin...I just do...She's a great singer and her personality is even better...She impresses me pretty much every week.

Blake (A) --- At the beginning of the contest, I didn't think Blake's vocals were his strong suit...I thought he got by on his showmanship and beat-boxing entertainment...In the last three weeks, though, he has more-or-less ignored the beat-boxing and has been truly one of the better singers in the contest. Performance of the night here.

Hayley (C+) --- I enjoyed her much more than the judges...And oh my goodness she gets more and more stunning every week. That alone pulls her into the next round.

Sanjaya (B+) --- For the first time I was wowed by a Sanjaya performance. I really admire him for being able to come through and actually sound good even though he apparently hasn't had it.

Bottom 3: Hayley, Phil, Chris

Going Home: Phil

Rankings for this show only.

1: Blake
2: Jordin
3: Melinda
4: Lakisha
5: Sanjaya
6: Chris
7: Hayley
8: Phil

What a completely uneventful night. I don't know if it was a bad theme or if the song choices where bad or if the contestants themselves were lacking. But I'm going with the later than the former(s). In any case:

Melinda: Yay!!!! My Melinda-dislike is justified! She sucked. ICAM with Simon, looked old (er than she is), sounded and acted old.

LaKisha: It was just ok. Not bad but not good.

Chris: I think I'm over the poor-man's Justin Timberlake. He and Phil should have switched songs

Phil: He can blow but he's just so awkward.

Hayley: Can we PLEASE send her home now?

Jordin: I just simply love her. I think she has the purest voice in the competition.

Blake: I wasn't as impressed as everyone else and was actually expecting more. I expected him to make the song his own and it just sounded like really good karaoke.

Sanjaya: I don't know why I'm not completely repulsed by him like the rest of American. lol He has a nice voice. But he's like the Yao Ming of American Idol.

Ratings for last night:

1. Blake
2. Jordin
3. Lakisha
4. Melinda
5. Chris
6. Sanjaya
7. Phil
8. Hayley
